He knew if he stayed in Vegas, he'd get caught up in prostitution and gambling much easier, so Arizona was a big market for him

Humble_Handler93

That’s the narrative I’m gunna go with 😂

Marauderr4

That is pretty dumb, but they probably just base it on the size of the city (or the city in their name, at least). Phoenix has a ton of people, and technically Vegas doesn't. But obviously the Raiders are a much bigger market team then Arizona so it's not well implemented

Nickdog8891

ARE the Raiders a much bigger market team? Obviously the Raiders as a franchise has a much more storied history than the Cardinals, but im not sure that they have a bigger market currently. They play in a smaller city, and recently moved, AND they haven't been very relevant as far as playoffs go for a long time.

Marauderr4

All that's true, but the have a shit ton of older fans. And large groups of holdouts in Oakland and LA

Nickdog8891

My guess is that fans that are out of market aren't really factored in? Because unless you NFL Gamepass, you are stuck watching the team in your area

Marauderr4

Oh yeah, definitely.

Nickdog8891

I think Vegas actually has a very small market. I know it might seem odd at first, but Glendale is in the Phoenix metro area, so it's actually really large. Vegas has almost nothing around it, and it doesn't actually have that big of a permanent population. This has been brought up a ton recently, due to the Athletics leaving a huge market, and moving to a much smaller market.

FatalTragedy

I mean, the Phoenix metro area is twice the population of the Vegas metro area, so that makes some sense to me.

FatalTragedy

I mean the preference is to play in a bigger market. To me that means population and only population. It would be weird to me if it meant anything other than purely population.

FatalTragedy

The NYC metro area has four times the population of the Phoenix metro area (20M vs 5M), so that's not the case at all.

bradmfer

It is a bigger market by far though

Prestigious-Two9522

Not sure why youre getting downvoted, the phoenix metro area has like a way higher population than vegas

bradmfer

It's like double the size, maybe more lol

Melodicmarc

they need to improve the system. Each player should have a financial motivation, a roster motivation, and a misc. motivation. They should be based on player rating, position and age. A WR with an overall of 96 should be motivated to be the highest paid at their position for their financial motivation and their roster motivation would be to play with a franchise QB or play with a winning team. Their misc. could be the big city market. Once a player starts to get pretty old, their misc. motivations would start to matter more like playing close to home or being a super bowl contender. A young low overall player would be just trying to make a roster, so their motivations financially would be getting a multiyear deal or guaranteed money, and their roster motivation would be joining a weak position group or having a mentor.

JTribs17

this makes so much sense

SnooOwls487

And that’s why Madden won’t do it lmao

Paliosback

They will do it...just will take 6+ months then listed as one of the MAJOR changes to franchise mode as new feature LOL

Melodicmarc

they should hire me because this type of stuff is all I think about

Donclat

Have you considered applying to EA?

Melodicmarc

I have, but I already have a great job in a low cost of living area with good friends so I wouldn't want to put that at risk

koncha22

Then why aren’t you working at EA then lol

koncha22

Then why aren’t you working at EA then lol

PersianKicks

@EA hire this man

FreeLilDeebo

One of my players was from Oregon and his close to home for the hawks was all the way red like bro where else would you go

mawkis_12

I feel like I saw someone test this. The real players have their real hometowns coded in. I dunno if that was real or if this applies to your situation tho

i-like-your-hair

Wil Lutz is as close to a mentor as it gets for a punter, a position in which teams don’t carry two of anyways. New Orleans is the perfect team for this guy, other than one of the Florida teams with a vet kicker.

prickleypears

Will Lutz is a bronco

i-like-your-hair

Oh fuck lmao, it’s been a minute since I played Madden and I don’t watch either Denver nor New Orleans. Good catch.

madbroumadbro

I used the preseason squads

duddyface

Just wait till the free agency period. Nobody is going to sign him and you can offer him a bare minimum contract with no signing bonus and possibly even multiple years. I do this all the time with backup QBs and then dump the ones I don’t care about if they don’t pan out. And if they do? Hey cheap contract for multiple years and can still cut them any time I want.

JacksonTheReader

When you get a Hawaiian player…

theuncharacteristic1

I had an "international" player want to be close to home once. Like bro....

ComprehensiveHost490

The heart wants what the hearts wants

Gabaloo

Mentor at position is so dumb. My superstar 99 DL was full red because of no mentor at position. After scanning through every single DL IN THE LEAGUE.  Only 1 guy had the mentor tag. Game sucks

madbroumadbro

It should only be a motivation for young backups. Not PUNTERS AND 99 OVR DLs

Gabaloo

Or you should be able to have a larger more specific staff, or be able to assign certain tags to guys who've fulfilled whatever career landmarks. Have an aging player?  Boom, make him a mentor

itsSUPREMEXIV

WVU legend

DannyDevito_IsBae

I mean you're playing without salary cap, so just give him the max deal, doesn't matter anyway

YouEcstatic8499

Even with Salary cap off you will get fired from the team if your overall money stays negative for more than a couple years. Yes, even as the owner lol.

DannyDevito_IsBae

Playing without salary cap, may as well turn coach firing off. Playing the game on baby mode anyway

YouEcstatic8499

It's a video game. Play it how you want and dont be a whiney bitch about how others play. Real life baby mode doesn't look good on anybody.

JTribs17

i mean he’s not wrong lol, it’s not like he’s playing realistically so atp the realism of the motivations doesn’t truly matter

madbroumadbro

Mind your fucking business

madbroumadbro

I'm trying to play like it's EAFC

Ok_Butterscotch5259

special teams think they own shit when it comes to contracts annoying asf and it be the mediocre ones too

MackeyD3

A punter wanting a mentor might be the dumbest motivation I've seen so far

madbroumadbro

Me realising that even if they add long snappers it would just be the same old special teams dumpster fire ![gif](giphy|1guRIRVN8Y9S8huFLAk|downsized)

Tarus_The_Light

I mean. The first 2 are fair I guess. even though Alabama should probably include as a 'neutral' to Louisiana. Maybe he just really wants to be a Titan and didn't want to outright say it. Clown really says "Go hire a 40 year old punter so he can tell me how to do my job" tho,

MoscowMitchMcKremIin

Plus he's 77 ovr... So he's already like top 10 or damn near...

Plane-Individual-185

He wants to go back to college.

madbroumadbro

Who does he want his mentor to be? A professor?

RedKnightJAS

The “close to hometown” state is also auto generated so there’s no way to change / see where they are from before hand.

madbroumadbro

Ok but its Alabama and hes playing in Louisiana

TheReturnOfTheOK

And what other team would be closer

RedKnightJAS

My point is this feature in madden sucks.

Successful_Log4050

Falcons, titans, jaguars. I guess teams from states that have a border with Alabama

trymyomeletes

About half of Alabama (East and Central) is closest to Atlanta, and about a quarter each are closest to Nashville (Northwest) and New Orleans (southwest). If this guy is from Mobile, or anywhere else in Southwest Alabama, New Orleans is the closest team. New Orleans is no lower than third closest anywhere in Alabama. Jacksonville is not the closest team for any part of Alabama. Interestingly, the western panhandle of Florida is also closer to New Orleans than Jacksonville, and a small portion of the central panhandle is closer to Atlanta than Jacksonville.

Aggressive-Drop-3265

Pick players that have at least 2 green demands they sign for less and if they’re good you can keep them for a while

yamada800

I noticed more of these recently. Im in 2031 and my 77 ovr DE who won DL of the year asked for a 1 year. I let him hit FA, panthers sign him to a 1 year so I just edited it to a 40m 3 year.

alexfrankone

Falcons

DirkDongus

Things like this make me go "WTF" but make me love Madden. ![gif](giphy|pPhyAv5t9V8djyRFJH|downsized)

skeeter2012

Paying punters is a waste of money anyway. Never pay kickers or punters. Only exceptions are SS kickers.

madbroumadbro

So who kicks your field goals

RustedKnight04

For a 22 year old I'd say those are fine. Stupid was when my 29 year old 99 OVR QB who had two MVPs and 3 super bowls wanted a mentor at his position. No state income tax is the smartest if we're equating it to real life. Imagine playing in California and losing half your contract so the state can provide needles to homeless drug addicts

madbroumadbro

Income tax is fine but hes a punter, he can't have a mentor. Also he's mad he's not close to home. We are in Louisiana. He is from Alabama.
