We had a plug n play with a bunch of NES games on it when I was a kid so I played the OG on that a lot. That was back when 4-1 was the most insane level and I just had fun with only like 3 screens I could reach
while I grew up when the ds and Wii were still getting games, my introduction to video games was on the 64, playing either Mario kart, Mario party, or Mario 64. I did play on the ds and Wii more, but the 64 was definitely my introduction to video games
Honestly I've loved Mario my entire life, so I don't even remember a time before I knew the series.
But I know my first game was Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World. So I'm not surprised I fell in love with the series considering I got to play all the classics in a single package. Then my next Mario game was Super Mario RPG, which is still my favorite game of all time and really cemented my eternal love for Mario.
An old fan site that has long since been taken down. It had a number of music videos and games on it, like “Ignorance is Bliss” and “Rawest Forest”. The background was in the style of Super Mario World and I remember watching the sprites bounce around entranced by them.
Not long after I got my first Mario game, New Super Mario Bros for the DS.
In 2005, My Family & I when to visit My Aunt’s aunt in law’s place, her grandson was their playing video game’s, & One of them is Super Mario Bros. I play the game as well as Balloon Fight, I enjoy the those 2 games.
The original Super Mario Bros. game way back in the 80's when I was little.
Trouble is, I can't remember which version I played first. NES or Arcade Cabinet. I remember playing both quite frequently.
At the public pool we used to go to when I was little, they had a small video arcade, and I remember sinking tons of quarters in that thing trying to get farther than World 4.
I also remember visiting family who had an NES and a copy of Super Mario Bros. / Duck Hunt, and we'd go back and forth between both games all the time.
my brain suddenly sparked a huge energy to get into mario when i saw my younger cousin play the snes classic with mario rpg in it......then i gave an emulation a shot and bam
I was around 3, my dad was playing Mario 64 (this was like 1998-1999) and I have a very fuzzy memory of seeing him navigating the castle grounds and wanting to play……I ended up playing, because soon after I was also playing Donkey Kong 64 and wanted to invite all the Kongs to my birthday!!
Now that very same Mario 64 cart, all these years later, is signed by Charles Martinet as of last year. I even told him it was my first game and he was so nice!! Said it looked brand new 🥺🥺
Full circle!
It was probably my 4 year old brain thinking "Funny man jump when I press button, he walk when I press button, I have power over funny man, this is now the most important thing in my life from now until the end of time."
To clarify, it was the original Super Mario Bros on NES.
The first time I played a Mario game wasn't even an official one.
It was a flash game with SMW sprites, you had to get a star on every level and the musinc of the entire game was a remixed version of the Mirabuto Kingdom theme from Super Mario Land.
I want to play it again, but I don't remember the name. I think its around 17 years old.
My Father when he was a kid got an NES with the SMB and Duck Hunt 2-in-1 combo. When I was a wee baby (I was born in 2003) I would play the NES as he had the console hooked up in my Nursery for some reason. That is my earliest memory of Mario. That being said, the original SMB was my first memory of Mario, but according to family photos, my first Mario Game was MK: Double Dash as my Dad got my Mom and her Sister a GameCube at the time. I have no recollection of ever playing DoubleDash but there is enough evidence such as photos and the fact that I now own the GameCube my Mom and her Sister have. Unfortunately the Double Dash disc has been lost somewhere at my Grandparent’s house although I do remember seeing it as a kid. I just never popped it in because I didn’t know the GameCube worked and I already had MK on the Wii. It was at this time I had no clue that the Wii could even play GameCube games either. So there’s my Mario Story I guess.
my first introduction was donkey kong for the arcade, i still had no idea who mario was though it was just something my dad showed me when i was like 3
my real first introduction to mario was super mario world, i think i was about 6 or 7 years old and my dad introduced it to me again and it was beautiful, all the colours, sounds and character designs struck everything in me, i still laugh sometimes and remember lil me thinking donkey kong was in the castle on top of yoshis island and my dad just sort of laughing to himself about it and then told me 'its a dragon called bowser'. smw wasnt just my introduction to the game but also my introduction to the characters and themes of mario
When I was a baby, my mom bought me a Mario doll and gave it to me as a gift. Mario has just been with me almost all my life and honestly I can’t complain.
My first gaming device was a Game Boy Pocket, I was 6 or 7 and had absolutely no clue about games so my dad used to buy me random games. One of them was Super Mario Land, that was my introduction to Mario. Shortly after that I got my N64 with Super Mario 64.
Okay, so…. I actually did found out about Mario when I first access to the internet back when YouTube wasn’t all about the money and I became fascinated with him ever since.
I think my first Mario game technically would've been Mario Kart Wii, but the one that made me truly fall in love with the franchise was Super Mario Galaxy 2.
Emulators, more specifically, Project 64 and ZSNES, the first games i played in my entire life we're Super Mario 64 and Super Mario All-Stars, so basically, i've known Mario my entire life at this point.
Partners In Time! I say that but I also remember playing SM64 DS and MPDS really early in my life, but my earliest memories are with PIT. Specifically the part on Bowser's ship where Baby Peach starts crying hysterically lmao
Mario kart Wii. According to my family I was like 5 and walked into my brother and cousin playing the game while my brother was Mario. I looked at Mario and said “ he’s red, he’s my favorite character now “
Thought I would share a silly story on how I found my favorite franchise lol
