Stefano Caselli’s Ultimate Thor is by far my favourite. I met him at a con last month and he even did a drawing of him in my book and signed a couple of comics for me free of charge
The Walt Simonson Thor was meant to be a homage to his mythological roots that looks like something out of an epic Fantasy novel and is probably the closest he's ever come to looking like his real world counterpart minus the red hair.
Olivier Coipel is just the GOAT but I am digging the current design for Thor in immortal Thor. Yeah it’s the classic design but it has sutle changes that I like.
Also Avengers Twilight is just amazing
honestly, as a guy being overweight seeing thor like that, a hero with a belly, that was great.
i don't like the way he was a joke most of the time, i loved that look specifically, we needed to see that and Hemsworth fought to keep that look in the movie, becouse it does more for the audience.
What trips me out is that the Deodato Jr artwork I can only find in The Crossing. Thor's comic at the time had him just in jeans and shirtless. What was the origin of that costume?
It's very MCU-ish, so I can understand some people not liking it, but Jason Aaron's run was my first exposure to the character in the comics, so seeing this battered and bruised man, missing an arm, and without all the bits and baubles his armor usually has felt like a satisfying evolution
Olivier Coipel for the comics, no contest
And i actually really like Thor Design in the Love & Thunder Movie, even though i dont like the movie, the designs were peak.
Ya I didn't want to add to many pics you know? Like if I added every thor design people have been mentioning there would be like 30 pics 😅 I just added a collection of some of my fav looks
The current one which is basically just the classic with some tiny changes. I don't like Thor when he's wearing all silver or all black cause it looks really boring in my opinion
#Donny Cates King Thor with the blue Rune Stripes
#Infinity War Bring Me Thanos!
#Avengers Twilight
#2007 Thor modern LOOK and EMH
#Jason Aaron's God Butcher Look
#Classic Thor look from EMH
For the comics I like the new Ultimates Thor. Also liked the design from the more recent Cates run.
For the MCU I really liked the blue and gold from Thor Love & Thunder. I think that's inspired by the Walt Simonson run. His look in Infinity War was pretty badass as well.
N°1 Walt Simonson I believe is the only artist to ever surpass Jack on his own game in regards to Thor h made Thor glide through the pages like nobody else did, N°2 is Jack Kirby naturally he didn't just made Thor but the whole Asgard aesthetic still shines through his drawings so many decades later and N°3 I really love Simone Bianchi which is a complete contrast with the classic style and not only is extremely detailed and somewhat photorealistic but also of an homage to the more traditional Viking aesthetic without giving up the impossible super hero physique of the God of Thunder.
Number 3 Thor (2020)
I think that Thor has a good design, because it was out of the re-design of the circles on the suit. Also he has a rune that lights on when he uses the mjolnir.
Another thing that I liked, was the stars/universe on his cape and the rest of the suit.
My favorite is the classic outfit. I really like the bright and vibrant colors and the simple yet iconic design. I think Kirby and the artist for the current Immortal Thor run draw it the best.
For me it'd have to be the Classic Thor look. When drawn right, it can look just as great, if not better, than the more popular modern looks. I believe Thor in The Super Hero Squad Show was my first Thor experience and that really set the tone for me (even though he's way goofier than most of the other Thor adaptations). I also wish we saw more of this costume on Young Thor in Thor: Love and Thunder.
SHS Thor also wears the arm and leg plates and it looks really good! The classic arm/leg played suit is #2 for me overall. I think that's the look used in most animation and definitely is great in the MCU and comics!
I really liked the design used on the original solicit ad cover of Ultimate Universe #1. It was a cool combination of the classic comics Thor while maintaining the sensibilities of the original Ultimate Thor design...
Simonson's Thor, which I don't see here. I also liked Beta Ray Bill's look when he first grabbed the walking stick.
From the pics you posted, # 11, the Ultimates version of Thor is best. I lost all respect for MCU Thor with the jealous Stormbreaker nonsense, and I can't look at him the same.
Olivier coipel no doubt
Agreed! The first thing that pops in my head when I think thor
You missed the most powerful Thor of all , Rune King Thor he'll beat every version of Thor you posted here. https://www.reddit.com/r/Marvel/s/iRSTPOzvk2
Ouu damn I've never seen that one. Looks amazing though!
Yeah, Coipel’s is a great modernized version of the classic design.
Honestly the best compromise we could possibly get between the original and modern designs.
I will alway have a soft spot for Olivier Coipel thor look
Top teir thor design. That whole run from 2007 is easily my favorite thor run
Stefano Caselli’s Ultimate Thor is by far my favourite. I met him at a con last month and he even did a drawing of him in my book and signed a couple of comics for me free of charge
That would be the original ultimate thor eh? His design did go hard af ngl
Young Thor as done by Esad Ribic
Came here to say this. Best design by miles!
classic
Classic designs iconic. Can't go wrong with the ogs
The classic design is solid but Kirby’s art absolutely elevated it to god-tier
Sleevless has got to be one of my favorite character designs for demi gods
That's fair. I personally prefer the metal arm designs but sleevless looks cool to!
Herald of Thunder was a thing of beauty. Dude looked majestic
The Walt Simonson Thor was meant to be a homage to his mythological roots that looks like something out of an epic Fantasy novel and is probably the closest he's ever come to looking like his real world counterpart minus the red hair.
Coipels, but not gonna lie really like the Herald Thor
Esad Ribic's Thor.
1,3,4,5,9,11
Good picks man. That avengers twilight design goes real hard. Never read it myself but alot of the designs look fire
it's a really great miniseries that just wrapped, so you can read it from start to finish without waiting.
Ultimate Thor
Kirby. The rest just tweak his original.
I like the old Thor look from the butcher of gods comics, also like the young one
the avengers twilight and golden arm thor!
Yes those designs are sick! Golden arm thor goes so hard
I really liked the desgin immediately following "The Herald of Galactus" arc, I forget the writer on the run (I think Cates?)
5 among these.
Word that twilight design goes hard man
Avengers Twilight.
Put a goddamn cape on Ultimate and we are in business. Otherwise I like Twilight design
Olivier Coipel is just the GOAT but I am digging the current design for Thor in immortal Thor. Yeah it’s the classic design but it has sutle changes that I like. Also Avengers Twilight is just amazing
The second picture is what I think of when I think of Thor.
Number 1
Number 7. Rock star hair and midriff showing.... said no one ever
i like endgame vs thanos look. when he sayes "lets end him properly this time".
Ya I personally wasn't huge on fat thor but take away the chonk his design is sick with the dreadlocks and dual weilding mjolnir and stormbreaker
honestly, as a guy being overweight seeing thor like that, a hero with a belly, that was great. i don't like the way he was a joke most of the time, i loved that look specifically, we needed to see that and Hemsworth fought to keep that look in the movie, becouse it does more for the audience.
Ultimate
What trips me out is that the Deodato Jr artwork I can only find in The Crossing. Thor's comic at the time had him just in jeans and shirtless. What was the origin of that costume?
Pic #11, with no cape. Looks badass. Then #1 followed by #3.
1,9,11
[This is peak Thor obviously ](https://www.slashfilm.com/909251/remembering-that-80s-tv-movie-where-thor-fought-the-hulk/)
Can't argue with that 😅
I watched this again a few years ago and it's unintentionally hysterical 🤣
Beard Thor with the prosthetic arm
Word I love that look! You can tell he's been through it, looks sick
It's very MCU-ish, so I can understand some people not liking it, but Jason Aaron's run was my first exposure to the character in the comics, so seeing this battered and bruised man, missing an arm, and without all the bits and baubles his armor usually has felt like a satisfying evolution
I get what you mean, unlike other designs you can really tell he's been though hell and fought uncountable amounts of battles just by looking at him
I like 5 and 11 from the comics. They represent the more iconic aspects of the thunder god.
I'd say ultimate
#7 is so 90’s it’s hard to hate.
Live action Thor in Avengers AoU/Thor Dark World to this day is my favorite Thor look.
His unworthy outfit
Short hair and beard
The one based on war of the realms
I saw someone say Thor's helmet wings should show emotion and now that's the only Thor for me.
My favorite comics look is from Straczynski's run, and my favorite live action look is from Thor Ragnarok
Honestly? I think probably his fur look from Love and Thunder, that he had for all of 10 seconds. Didn't love the movie, LOVE the look.
Olivier Coipel for the comics, no contest And i actually really like Thor Design in the Love & Thunder Movie, even though i dont like the movie, the designs were peak.
1, 3 and 11. With 1 being the favorite.
I'm comfortable with the "Thor: Son of Asgard" model
The classic Kirby is the best, but the Coipel is great. I also like the Esad Ribic one from God Bomb. The Avengers Twilight one is peak as well.
Fatty Thor is my favorite, because its the most epic version, he looks like a true viking
Where's my boy thunderstrike?
All of Thor's design. All of them.
Respect 🙏 thors one of my top 3 marvel characters and you really can't go wrong with him
I will respect Thor. He is my favorite Marvel character too. I like their designs.👍
Not marvel but god of war’s design is real good
1, 3, 7, 11 and you left out Dad Bod Thor!!
Ya I didn't want to add to many pics you know? Like if I added every thor design people have been mentioning there would be like 30 pics 😅 I just added a collection of some of my fav looks
No excuses. Every version ever or the post is unreadable!!! XD
Call me weird but 10 really tickles my fancy
The original Ultimate design will always be my favorite, hammer and all
MCU thor
I'm partial to the Interpresse Valhalla comics version.
Infinity War. It was fucking perfect.
1 is the absolute best. Feels both classic and modern at the same time
Twilight for sure.
"Fat bro thor"
The current one which is basically just the classic with some tiny changes. I don't like Thor when he's wearing all silver or all black cause it looks really boring in my opinion
None of these.
I’m going to go against the grain and say 10
The first one for me
#Donny Cates King Thor with the blue Rune Stripes #Infinity War Bring Me Thanos! #Avengers Twilight #2007 Thor modern LOOK and EMH #Jason Aaron's God Butcher Look #Classic Thor look from EMH
Unworthy.
Jane.
That's a respectable choice. Totally forgot to include her. But ya her design is top notch man!
Classic, Modern, Ultimate, MCU Blonde, Marvel Now, Infinity War.
That Acuna one hits hard.
For the comics I like the new Ultimates Thor. Also liked the design from the more recent Cates run. For the MCU I really liked the blue and gold from Thor Love & Thunder. I think that's inspired by the Walt Simonson run. His look in Infinity War was pretty badass as well.
1,11,12.
God of fists thor
Probably Rune King, but I love the helmetless Immortal look, specifically the hand wraps.
War of the Realms Thor. The one with the arm of the Destroyer, the eyepatch, and Mjolnir with the World Tree branch handle.
Classic
The initial pic, I always forget who drew it, but the storylines in this time period absolutely fucked
Write in: Thor from Marvel 1602
Oliver Copiel's design. 100%
Number 3 tbh. Love that design!
The Esad Ribic redux from the Aaron run. Jane Foster Thor was a great design, too (Russell Dauterman design, I believe).
God in Black when Thor absorbed a symbiote
Coipel by far
I think it's the ultimate version but I like that one
If he had a cape in pic 11 probably that, otherwise Infinity War
I like first Avengers movie Thor Design
Any besides the 90’s one
Coipel's art on the JMS run. It's still my favorite Thor run, and I love that design.
I'm normally a sucker for the OGs, but Cates' Thor with the Norse rune is really hard to beat, especially when the helmet is on.
Walt Siminson
I know it’s more recent but I actually really liked Herald Thor.
The Six Pack Headlight Design lol
Classic
Number 3 Thor (2020) I think that Thor has a good design, because it was out of the re-design of the circles on the suit. Also he has a rune that lights on when he uses the mjolnir. Another thing that I liked, was the stars/universe on his cape and the rest of the suit.
Twilight
7 and 11, Glam Metal Thor and Ultimate Thor.
number 5
5,7,11
90s crop top Thor
3 and 4
I mean, Olivier Coipel is da shit. Either classic or unworthy. But... Ultimate is also sweet.
Twilight and beer thor from end game
Dautermann or Ribic.
Dark World Thor is peak Thor.
I really liked the turner cover to bad he didn’t do much of Thor
Who are Thor’s artists in picture number 6 and 7?
the first one
J.M. Straczinski's Thor run.
Number 9,Number 9,Number 9
I choose 1 and 2 but his outfit as King of Asgard looks dope too.
I really like his suit in the dark world
Five. Why would you ever cover those arms?
Allfather Thor from the later cates stuff, Pretty much the herald look but sleeveless and a beard and helmet
olivier coipel followed by mcu phase 3 Thor
Classic, Heroes Reborn, Infinity War and Herald of Thunder
For me Walt Simonson defined what Thor looks like, like Ditko did with Strange, Kirby with Galactus and Surfer, BWS with Wolverine
Either Unworthy or the one from Love & Thunder (not the blue and gold one, the one with the fur collar).
For me it’s Esad Ribic design for Jason Aaron’s run. Thor looked so fucking awesome in that. Love the way he draws him
My favorite is the classic outfit. I really like the bright and vibrant colors and the simple yet iconic design. I think Kirby and the artist for the current Immortal Thor run draw it the best.
Number two.
I‘m unironically a sucker for the 90s ultra edgy superhero designs
No Ultimate Thor, really?
I like the first two most so simple and classic
Ravager Thor
Slide 11 is sick
Slide 11 or 12
I just really like the helmet from Avengers Twilight. It gives that Dragonborn vibe.
Number 5, 11, and the mcu suits.
Walt's gold and blue with the beard.
First 2
Can’t beat Kirby.
Walt Simonson Forever.
Ultimate design
11 Thor is basic and hardcore because of that fact. 7 has that 90s over design edginess to it that I’m all for.
Classic design
Donny Cates
4! Next…
Daaaamn 7 looks awesome with that ab window and all those straps!
Ultimate will always be my favorite, but the absolute absurdity of the overly edgy 90"s look? Perfection.
One from the new god of war was sick.
the one in the seventh picture- those locks- 🥵
Olivier Coipel, then Walt Simonson, then Martin Coccolo.
OG Classic Thor. Love that costume
I loved the first one as a modern , but still cool and “older” looking design for Thor, compared to his classic suit. That was Heroic Age right?
My top 2 are Unworthy Thor, and the Herald of Galactus Thor. I can't decide which is better but they're both sick.
It was a cool combination of the classic comics Thor while maintaining the sensibilities of the original Ultimate Thor design...
i like all the suits in this list, but my favorite one was the devourer king thor suit
Where is the comic eye patch Thor?
Who does beardy thor?
Love me some Ultimate Thor. Could not even begin to guess at why.
That design from the Donny Cates series is an all-time for me. Didn't even read it but that design is so iconic.
Classic and herald Thor will always be my favorite
Simonson's Thor, which I don't see here. I also liked Beta Ray Bill's look when he first grabbed the walking stick. From the pics you posted, # 11, the Ultimates version of Thor is best. I lost all respect for MCU Thor with the jealous Stormbreaker nonsense, and I can't look at him the same.
Herald of Thunder and the 11th designs go unnecessarily hard.
Chris Hemsworth
2, 4, or 11
Classic Jack Kirby is my top pick.
Classic Jack Kirby is my top pick.
Definitely NOT the Liefeld one!
These all seem like they’re rough drafts to me.
I don't like the hair and face, but you just can't beat the coamoc triangle (3)
Infinity War, I don't care
11 if it’s pride. 5 otherwise
2: The classic 1: The update of a classic 8: the only time someone added gold to a character that wasn’t Iron Man and it was good
Slide 3 is so fucking good…
Infinity War Thor
Colosseum Thor from Ragnorok.
Definitely god of fists, incredibly underrated and has a better arc of overcoming his need of the hammer than the mcu ever did
