This has to be it, the “original slayer fans” all hate this album. BUT not only does it kill, but it brought a whole new generation into the slayer family!
I skipped school to buy it the day it released. I got back to school thinking I could sneak back in unnoticed during passing time and everyone was just staring at the TVs in the hallway.
I was so fucking confused as to what was going on.
Then the second plane hit.
I woke up to my roommate coming home and talking about “we’re under attack”. Watch shit unfold on tv. I realized what day it was and went to Best Buy to get the cd. Drove around before work blasting it. Still love the album.
Honestly I think the production makes it sound awesome. When I think bad production i think failures for gods by immolation where it literally sounds quiet and static-y. Divine intervention more so sounds just raw af
After the amazing production quality of the previous three albums divine intervention sounds like it was recorded with a potato. I actually like it also. Or it has grown on me over the years. Every slayer album sounds very unique it is one of the reasons they are such an awesome band.
Is "God hates us all" really underrated? I've mostly heard praise over it since its release. Some magazines reviewing it at its release calling it their best album since "Seasons in the abyss"
I agree. It gets a lot of hate, and It's absolutely not one of their best albums as a whole, and it sounds quite different from many other Slayer-albums. But in my opinion, both "Death's head" and "Stain of mind" are really good songs that gets your blood flowing.
I never understood the hate either. People will say it sounds more nu-metalish, but frankly I think *God Hates Us All* has more of a simplified, nu-metal sound (still an incredible album).
Honestly, listened to it for the first time a couple of months ago. And I was underwhelmed by how not bad it was, it's okay, but man not nearly as bad as people make it to be.
Hardcore punk is my favorite genre, so to me Undisputed Attitude rules so hard. Plus, Gemini is an underrated song... It's so heavy and Paul goes nuts on the fills.
I've heard it said that whichever Slayer album you hear first is your favorite. So for me, that's *Diabolus in Musical.* I realize that's the album that most fans, and the band themselves, dislike, but I played that thing *nonstop* when I first heard it at age 14 and I still like all the songs on it. Bostaph's drumming is superb.
Repentless. Crucify me, but Gary holt brought something different to the band that was very welcome. There’s more songs on that album that I think about than World Painted blood or god hates us all. Christ illusion is also a good answer, honestly either one
Time to move Sabbath's Forbidden off worst - the remix/remaster by Iommi as part of the Anno box set is a complete transformation. And underrated? Should be Never Say Die! That weird Sabbath row was done by a Sabbath fan poser or AI.

God Hates Us All
Disciple is my favourite Slayer song
Yeah, I prefer Hell Awaits to this, but this one should win because it’s actually underrated
Yeah, that was my thinking as well.
PAYBACK'S A BITCH MOTHERFUCKER
I shit on Kerry's sloppy playing, but fucking hell is this song violent.
PAYBACK’S A BITCH, SHERYL!

I KEEP MY BIBLE IN A POOL OF BLOOD SO THAT NONE OF IT'S LIES CAN AFFECT ME! New Faith is top tier
My favorite Slayer song.
This has to be it, the “original slayer fans” all hate this album. BUT not only does it kill, but it brought a whole new generation into the slayer family!
I'm old, totally "an original Slayer fan"and this album absolutely rips! I'd agree on the most underappreciated for sure.
I'm an original Slayer fan since the day Show No Mercy was released and I love this album from start to finish.
I skipped school to buy it the day it released. I got back to school thinking I could sneak back in unnoticed during passing time and everyone was just staring at the TVs in the hallway. I was so fucking confused as to what was going on. Then the second plane hit.

Came here to say this. Bloodline and Disciple are easily 2 of their best songs
Saw slayer live in 2001 and they opened with disciple…if my old ass tried to be in that pit now id need a hospital bed pronto
the song writing on this one is stronger than the few that precede but man it just sounds like shit
Feel free to cry about it 👍
😢
This one right here
Y’all are weird.
i know why your prayers will never be answered.
Its probably my favorite
Tragically underrated
respectfully this is their worst album after diabolus
Hell Awaits. Seems to be the least talked about of their 80s output
My favorite Slayer album but I don't think it's underappreciated. While it's not everyone's favorite, it's held in high regard.
Least talked doesn't necessarily mean underrated, Hell Awaits is one of the most praised proto-death metal records out there.
Very undeserved. Its a killer album
Their best album too imo.
I would consider it better than Reign in Blood personally. It's a top three album for me and usually a top 5 for most people.
This is my favorite Slayer album, easily. However, in my circles it is spoken of highly quite often
Christ Illusion. The only post-divine intervention Slayer album I listen to from time to time.
Jihad is an absolute banger
And cult
Definitely. It was one of my favorite albums growing up too
Divine Intervention 100%
Hidden behind the disjointed production is an awesome slayer album. I think it has aged very well actually. Paul bostaph was great
Honestly I think the production makes it sound awesome.
Yeah I mean comparatively it’s so much worse but I like to look at things as they are, just the album itself and how the sound makes me feel
My main love of the album is his drumming
People are saying Hell Awaits and GHUA, but those two are quite popular. Divine intervention is the real underrated album.
Dittohead goes hard as fuck.
This is the best slayer album period.
Controversial maybe but I really do enjoy World Painted Blood
Same! The title track was the first Slayer song I learned to play on guitar.
Agreed! Amazing album, I prefer it slightly over Christ Illusion and it shits all over Repentless, imo
Undisputed Attitude gets way too much hate. Such a fun album.
If we upvote this comment enough can it also win underrated?
I agree. Take it for what it is it's got some fun base lines, riffs n drumming.
God hates us all
Is "God hates us all" really underrated? I've mostly heard praise over it since its release. Some magazines reviewing it at its release calling it their best album since "Seasons in the abyss"
Diabolus in Musica
Either Divine Intervention or Diabolus in Musica.
Diabolus in musica
Perversions of Pain was actually the first Slayer song I ever listened to. I fucking love that album.
Honestly, listened to it for the first time a couple of months ago. And I was underwhelmed by how not bad it was, it's okay, but man not nearly as bad as people make it to be.
God Hates Us All. Payback is one of my favorite Slayer songs.
Same!
Show No Mercy.
Most over rated more likely
GOD HATES US ALL
God Hates Us All
World Painted Blood
Christ Illusion
Diabolus in Musica
God Hates Us All
God hates us all
Divine Intervention definitely most underrated
Hardcore punk is my favorite genre, so to me Undisputed Attitude rules so hard. Plus, Gemini is an underrated song... It's so heavy and Paul goes nuts on the fills.
Gemini is the only good song on that album
Have they ever played Gemini live?
I don't know.
Divine Intervention - Slayer's last great album, and IMO has never been properly appreciated.
Divine Intervention is the only correct choice here. The others are either not underrated, or not good.
Honestly it's World Painted Blood imo. Nobody really talks about it and it's brutal as hell. And it's the last album with the original band lineup.
Divine Intervention
Seasons in the Abyss
Undisputed Attitude is far from their worst album. This sub is cooked
I think I'm going with World Painted Blood
Show No Mercy
Christ Illusion
Divine intervention is my favorite by far but it seems to be lower in the pack if I understand the consensus opinion correctly.
Repentless
God Hates Us All
Undisputed Aggression is not their worst album. Fake metal heads on this subreddit
God Hates Us All and Christ Illusion stand with the 80's classics. A new Slayer sound with the same Slayer intensity.
Hell Awaits. It really helped define their sound, first whammy bar usage (I think) and is my favorite album.
Divine Intervention.
Undisputed getting worst album is a sin wtf
I still can't believe Twist in the myth was voted BG's worst album
GOD HATES US ALLLL
World Painted Blood
Repentless. Crucify me, but Gary holt brought something different to the band that was very welcome. There’s more songs on that album that I think about than World Painted blood or god hates us all. Christ illusion is also a good answer, honestly either one
Divine Intervention
World Painted Blood
Divine Intervention
Seasons in the Abyss
God Hates Us All!!!
Time to move Sabbath's Forbidden off worst - the remix/remaster by Iommi as part of the Anno box set is a complete transformation. And underrated? Should be Never Say Die! That weird Sabbath row was done by a Sabbath fan poser or AI.
World Painted Blood
~~Show No Mercy~~
My answer is Divine Intervention
UNDISPUTED ATTITUDE
God hates us all
How did Diabolus in Musica not get worst? That album is a streaming dog turd
Divine Intervention
world painted blood
Diablola in Musica
Repentless. I mean, last album, but still underrated regardless. Delusions of Saviour, Repentless, Take Control and Chassing Death are great.
That one’s just not that good
Case in point \^ extremely underrated album.

I think that's intentional. It gives it a very staccato feel. Never struck me as a mistake.
