I’d rather see more of what Metroid’s setting has to offer than to revisit old ideas. I’d be perfectly happy if no versions of Mother Brain, Kraid, Ridley, or even Metroids show up in new games. Now if instead of a totally new game, they were to remake Other M from scratch and try and fix the problems with the story and characterization in that game (and give it a less gimmicky control scheme), I’d be interested in how they could improve MB in that.

Ill-Entrepreneur443

>I’d be perfectly happy if no versions of Mother Brain, Kraid, Ridley, or even Metroids show up in new games. Same it's really boring the always see the same villains. The Metroid Universe has more to offer than that.

DinkleDonkerAAA

I would love for Other M's story get another chance in a remake but given how loathed it is and how pissed off at Nintendo Metroid fans usually are I doubt Nintendo would piss the fans off with a remake unfortunately

Johnvon92

I would rather see Father brain or Grandmother brain

Hour-Investment7147

What are you doing, step brain!?

steveosv

Nephew brain

GazelleNo6163

Nope.

Whipperdoodle

Preferably no.

Gum_tree

I like that metroid dread referenced mother brain, with us seeing a lot of the same tech, without rehashing the same old villain again.

Kilroy_1541

Other M did fail on that front, yes, but we've also had OG MB (NES), upgraded (Super) remade OG (Zero Mission), the Federation's versions in Aurora Units (Prime 3) and the Mawkin's in Central Units (Dread). While the history is definitely there to make another version, for the love of geemers, I don't want the next one to be shoehorned in like Ridley was in SR. Dread's Central Units were different enough and served more isolated purposes that I thought they were done really well. Even if Metroid 6 is about Mawkin-X, I don't want more of the same. Being the Luminoth back so we can see them in real combat for all I care. I just don't want the same bosses again.

Adventurous_Lab3128

No. She reeked of sexist undertones.

Master_Explosition

How so? I've never heard of this take before

Adventurous_Lab3128

Basically MB becoming self-aware and developing a “soul” is analogous to a girl going through puberty and the stereotypical things that come with it (IE: Periods, PMS, etc).

Master_Explosition

That is such a terrible take that I have trouble believing you're not just shitposting. It is the most half brained, Tumblr-ass freshmen college literature class take I've ever heard. Mother Brain is a computer who became self aware, it was the most popular sci-fi trope of the decades before and after the original Metroid came out. It's literally such a popular trope that it's given real people brainworms about the sub-infantile AI we have today. Mother Brain is so generically evil that her entire plan is to use the space pirates to fight the federation and then personally finish off whichever side survives so she can be the only thing left alive. It is so unoriginally tropey that I can't believe anyone would ascribe as much meaning as you claim to be in actual good faith.

Adventurous_Lab3128

Hey it ain’t dumb. It’s logical.

Adventurous_Lab3128

Also I ain’t shitposting. MB is a dumb character. She was BASED on Mother Brain. She wasn’t Mother Brain Reincarnated. Yes I know that Computers become self aware in fiction. However, there was ways to do it in fiction without being sexist. MB was basically going self aware with Menstruation as a metaphor. Hell Other M is sexist and you know it.

Rootayable

I literally don't know what the point of MB was.

Treebohr

I see where you're coming from, but on the other hand, I think we've killed Mother Brain (and things that look like her) enough that it would easily come off as stale, unoriginal, boring, etc. Not to mention that any reference to Other M's story is likely to provoke an instant, negative reaction in many players.

Campbell464

Idk I wrote some insane fanfic about the Federation secretly copying the Metroid DNA within Samus’ suit, to use Metroid technology to benefit the universe unlike the Space Pirates. (But then all shit goes to hell)

march sort icky worthless murky offend late amusing long subtract *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

NovaPrime2285

I’ll never understand why some people out there want regurgitated villains that never die and always come back. Shit is lazy as hell.

finfaction

It's bonkers how many players want Phazon and Dark Samus to return for Prime 4.

Ill-Attempt-8847

You don't know how right you are

_DavidDeBergerac

I would like to see Other Brain come back

Master_Explosition

For the love of God, no. It's overdone. They should have better ideas.

Ill-Attempt-8847

I can understand but who should rebuild it? Ridley is dead(his head was decapitated in Super, which means he can't eat, which means he can't regenerate) , Kraid is at large, the space pirates are scattered and useless without leadership...

DinkleDonkerAAA

I mentioned in the post they haven't resolved the plot about the Shadow Group in the federation, those idiots are dumb enough to do it

Ill-Attempt-8847

I don't think they're that stupid... But they could have some Thoah DNA in the database since they were an allied tribe, so they could clone one and use it to control the Metroids. And even if they didn't have it they should have Samus's and could trace the Thoah DNA from there

Hour-Investment7147

I don't think they realize the difference between the tribes. And if they do, they'd prefer Warriors over thinkers and philosophers. Talking about stupid: they were stupid enough to rebuild MB once and mayyyyybe learned from the mistakes on the bottle ship? How many rogue research factories can there be? One cloned whatever they found on Samus' suit, the others developed vaccins and underestimated the X... I'm intrigued if the third time is indeed the charm.

Ill-Attempt-8847

Yes, they recognize the tribes, it is said in Dread. In fact only the Thoah were allies. A Mawkin would be quite useless compared to a Thoha as it is recognized as an enemy by the metroids while the Thoah can control them

Scuzzles44

let MB remain in super. id be more excited for a reimagining of super so that it fits in with the Mercury studio storyline of Dread. dont get me wrong, super is a perfect game but it isnt friendly toward modern gamers and it could use a refresh. the reason i think it also needs it, is because so far the Samus returns storyline is pretty much able to ignore Super Metroid and Zero mission entirely. a modern fan really only needs to play fusion and dread, and if they want more story, Samus returns. zero mission is fine as is, but right now theres no real point to play Super Metroid if you want to have play dread

DinkleDonkerAAA

I'm talking about MB as in the clone from Other M, I think they wasted her potential
