I'm on an SSRI and didn't know that about activated charcoal. Thanks for the info, I looked it up and it was super interesting to learn about! 👍

carceryvale

I’m glad I could help !! it sucks because all the activated charcoal food looks so cool to eat too

snowxbunnixo

I wonder if snris are the same deal hm

SculptedMask

It could also be squid ink! It’s a commonly used natural food dye

descartesasaur

I assumed that Lagoona's was for sure!

cammyy-

w way to spread information

cosmic_waluigi

They also aren’t on birth control, another medication affected by activated charcoal (and grapefruit!)

carceryvale

I didn’t know that about grapefruit !!!

trekkingdoves

Yes grapefruit can make the body absorb too much or too little of a medicine. it doesn’t affect all of them though so we must research before consuming if on any medications ✨

anaesthaesia

AFAIK particularly high dosages of citric acid and / or vitamin C can impact slow release adhd medication if taken together.

sapphiespookerie

Omg that’s so true and such a funny observation! I guess the food could be made with squid ink, but that might throw off the taste, huh?

MephistosFallen

I had squid ink pasta once and I honestly didn’t taste a difference that I could notice lol it may be flavorless, but don’t quote me on that

aquacraft2

Well my guess is that you probably don't need much to color everything. Squid ink being truely black and not just a super concentrated saturated color means that it won't lose any saturation when used. That and cooking it probably knocks back any sort of chemical taste.

MephistosFallen

I’d say that’s a solid guess! It was cool. The noodles had a chewier texture maybe, but tasted no different, and they were DARK BLACK, left no color stain anywhere. It was cool tbh. Interesting.

ComfortableCopy10

I mean the girls and frankie eat things like brain puffs ans eyeballs I think they'd be fine with a lil squid ink

draculaureate

In case anyone is wondering \*why\* you can't eat activated charcoal when you're on medications, it's because charcoal is really good at soaking up toxins and it is sometimes used in the case of medication overdoses (or other poisonings) to absorb the medication in your stomach before your body does. It also unfortunately can't tell the difference between a toxic dose and a regular therapeutic dose of a medication so if you ingest charcoal there's a chance it will absorb medication that you've taken and make it less effective or completely useless!

carceryvale

thank you for the explanation!!! I’d pin this if I could :>

PlasticFangtastic

🤭 I just assumed it was squid ink, but I suppose it could very well be bamboo charcoal like they used to color the infamous Kuro Burger bun!! I've seen bread loaves baked with squid ink but for the burger specifically I've seen it was charcoal for the bun & squid ink was used for the ketchup.....so this may be accurate OP 😂 ....Although squid ink seems right up Goona's alley hehe 🦑🫧

Haandotexe

LSDKJFLSDFJ??? ok... good to know for future reference.

Gacha_Catt

That’s hilarious- and also a very important PSA lol- IF YOURE ON ANY KIND OF MEDS YOU HAVE TO TAKE DAILY ORALLY- BE VERY CAREFUL WITH FOOD WITH CHARCOAL IN IT AS CHARCOAL WILL ABSORB YOUR MEDICATION BEFORE YOU WILL.

dracucore

charcoal doesn’t absorb your meds, but it does prevent your body from absorbing them and you just pass them as waste:)

dracucore

pharmacy student here! no matter what meds you take, you are generally ok to consume activated charcoal so long as it is not within 2 hours either side of taking your meds! activated charcoal can prevent your meds from being absorbed into your body, but after 2 hours they should already be mostly absorbed. ofc always ask your doctor or your pharmacist, but it’s most likely safe:)

Ancom_and_pagan

Does this apply to extended release medications?

dontredditdepressed

Activated charcoal and grapefruit are both foods to avoid with both hormonal and psychotropic meds.

devilpaste

JAJAJAJA i was so confused until i read the caption 😭😭😭

melly-ssk

This isn't something that's ever come to my mind with doll collecting lmao.

carceryvale

I’m just eternally tormented that I can’t eat cool looking black foods 😩

Ancom_and_pagan

I tend to just say screw it and use food dye lol

Anon9472529

This post genuinely made my day! ❤️😂

aquacraft2

Let me just say, for as nice as the creepros are, getting on for the first time they really don't have a whole lot, for me personally, the stand and the diary, while very nice, aren't the same level as a mini burger or hotdog. I love monster high accessories because they're mini monster-fied versions of regular things that I can really scrutinize and obsess over. It was a little disappointing, spectra was beautiful, her hair felt really nice, and everything was as expected, but really it was just the doll. So with that in mind I've gained a bigger appreciation for g3, even if they do reuse molds to hell and back.

parasidic_

Had a genuine chuckle at this 😂

smilenotslime

wait… PEOPLE EAT CHARCOAL??

Ancom_and_pagan

It's used as a dye for foods

EirianwenStudios

Icl I just thought you, like, couldn't eat activated charcoal in general

Spring-and-a-Storm

oooh shit I didn't even know that it's unsafe to eat shit with activated charcoal... I've been on antidepressants for years. I don't think I've really had any food with that stuff in it, but ty for spreading the word.

killmykind

What does that mean?

Ok-Caterpillar-Girl

I just assumed that any black or weird colored foods in the Monster High universe are naturally that color. If monsters can exist there, so can black food.

slither36912

Oml unironically this is an important psa thank you I did not know 😭
