They’re convenience combos, not discount combos. It’s so ridiculous.

Yoshaay

Nah we reintroduced combos at our theater a few weeks ago, but they literally make no price difference so I don't really see the point.

TheParking1

Tryna get people to pay for the candy I guess

nix_the_scientist

They used to be slightly discounted years ago before they were discontinued but even then you were only saving like 50 cents. Pretty sure they only brought them back because employees got sick of telling people there weren't any combos lol

TheParking1

Someone starts to order the combo and I’m like “just fyi the combo does nothing, just order what you want”

Marlon0201

my gm activated combos without letting anybody know the other day so at one point on Monday everybody went up to me and said “let me get a number 8” or “let me get a number one” and I was lost until I turned around and saw the combos. I also learned that it saves nobody any money at all and made it even more infuriating and upset that we need to learn what each combo is only for it to be pointless.

TheParking1

The one pro of it is that when you successfully tell someone the combo does nothing, it does show them that you the worker are being honest with them about trying to save them money, hopefully making them want to come back, with the downside being that it makes corporate look worse, which is deserved

Marlon0201

I agree, someone asked me if it saved money and I looked around for my gm to make sure he wasn’t around and I said no with a straight face. my gm would somehow get upset if I told them no but I gotta be honest haha

Kranon7

AMC does the same thing. They haven't had discounts with their combos for years.

Vivid-Bag59

we have had them at my theater since decmeber and I tired of being asked how much are they and I always have to tell them it depends on what you get

DarkthorneLegacy

It is even worse because they always ask "how much is combo X?" and it could be between 11.50 to 14.25 depending on the candy you pick, ICEE or fountain? you can upsize the large to an XL now too. so we printed out the lowest and highest each combo could be and have that list at the register... but, all that work is totally pointless because it saves you nothing but only serves to make you think you need the candy to make it a combo. I also don't like the recant redesign on the menu screens they did at our place. they don't show all the fountain flavors anymore and it is harder to read some things ect. but meh... rant over

RobStar0917

We have them at Marcus. The most annoying thing about it is when customers ask for substitutes or upgrades when they're not available. The Number 4 is a large popcorn and 2 small drinks, that's it. Some people will ask if we can upgrade it to an Icee like we can for the Number 1 or 2 (Spoilers: We can't.) Not that it matters anyway because it's the same price if they got what the combo offers separately.

Exact-Inspection9681

its been like this at amc for decades lol

mten12

Cinemark always being behind lol.
