there is a strike tomorrow, so it will be hard. Check the mvg app!

Normally the S2 but since that probably won’t work with the strike try the U4/U5 to odeonsplatz then U3 to Moosach then take the 710 bus to Dachau. But like check with google maps and the mvv app

Very sound advice. This should be the top reply.

You need to take the S2 going towards Altomünster. The ticket has to be for zones M-1. For a single one way ticket it’s 5,80€, for a full day ticket (including as many rides as you want) it’s 10,50€. A group ticket will be 19,50€. It’s valid for the full day and for as many rides as you like within that zone for up to 5 adults travelling together. So if you’re two or more people and aren’t travelling just one-way, the group ticket is the way to go.

And since the Deutsche Bahn is on strike I would recommend to use the DB App or alternatively check the bahn.de website. It’s more reliable during strikes than the MVG App and it’s already showing the striking schedule (about one SBahn per hour going that way)

Oh boy, do I have bad news for you. Starting at 2am, there will be a nation wide strike of train drivers until Wednesday at 2am. All regio, long distance and s-bahn trains will be affected and nobody can tell you now which trains will and which ones will not go. Tram, Subway and busses are not affected, but will obviously be very crowded. According to the MVV, the S2 to Dachau is planned to drive every 20 to 40 minutes. But as I said, the strike will interupt the entire schedule so don't expect them to run on time or at all. You will have to go to the platform and see there if your train will depart. You will need a ticket for zones M and 1 ticket for 5,80€ one way or 10,50 for a day pass.

At least during the last few strikes, the S2 was somewhat reliable in my experience compared to other lines. Had to go to Munich a couple of times, and they all arrived at the time stated in the app. Might have just gotten lucky though haha.

OP, I am the same. There is an app called citimapper that will tell you where to board the train, when to get off and guide you to your destination.
