Btw good taste man. That's why I put so much effort to type all of these out
Songatsu no Lion!!! It’s soo good. It will have you fully invested in things and side characters that you never thought you’d ever care about. And plenty of emotional moments too. I wish there were more seasons!
natsume's book of friends - its like mushishi in modern times (but not as good imo).
great pretender - just very fun and interesting
gto - animation quality isnt the best but if you dont mind that its a great watch
bartender - anime about a bar, cocktails, and the stories of people that visit it
ping pong the animation - a great show about ping pong, talent vs hard work. its very easy to binge
time of eve - a cafe in distant future where both robots and humans can hang out
violet evergarden - a child of war learns about humans and emotions and stuff while working as a letter writer in a steampunk 1930s world
oddtaxi - a tarantino style mystery anime where everyone is an animal
silver spoon - a highschool anime about a nerd who enrolled into a farming highschool
ping pong is exactly how it feels to be decently good at something, and then depending on how good you actually are, you end up as one of the characters, peak.
well then bartender is pretty much the closest it gets to time of eve imo, and also everything about it was done so well, even the shitty 2007 cgi drinks dont make it unappealing to watch. also here are some more slower slice of life show that i found decently interesting:
call of the night - very nice scenery about a kid that cant sleep, so he encounters a bunch of people along the way (also its a decently ecchi which is kinda annoying but it can be excused because the atmosphere of the show nails hanging out with a friend on a summer night at 4 am, its a great late night watch)
girls last tour - a slice of life about 2 girls exploring the post apocalyptic world they live in in search of humanity (a 10/10 show)
sonny boy - very odd, but interesting, starts out slow with the first 3 eps, but it picks up at ep 4.
I know that Sound Euphonium is on my list, but I usually don't like shows where the main point is that it is cute girls.
So is there more to this show then just that?
I also love sound euphonium but id say the show is a coming of age drama/adventure that really makes you reflect on your dreams as you watch the fulfill theirs (it did for me at least). It also does have a lot of emotional and heartwarming moments about friendship and overcoming personal problems. What’s great about it is that has an actual conclusive ending that leaves you satisfied.
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.
Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions.
Frieren: Beyond Journey's End.
Barakamon.
Kokoro Connect.
I assume you've seen K-On! and Cowboy Bebop?
Nice taste by the way.
Thank you, never heard of Kokoro Connect or Barakamon but will add them to the list.
And yeah i have seen Bebop which was awesome and K-On which was also good and very well made but a little bit boring
Cowboy Bebop is the same creator of Samurai Champloo. They are supposed to be a reflection of eachother. (Cowboy is the “opposite” of samurai, and bebop represents Jazz while champloo represents hip hop)
I’m so happy to see Samurai champloo in someone else’s top 5, it’s my favorite anime. I’d be real interested to check out some of the ones you put on the same list with it.
Sonny Boy, The Heike Story, Run With the Wind, Dennou Coil, Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu, Mawaru Penguindrum, Eccentric Family, Flowers of Evil, From the New World, The Tatami Galaxy
I'm sure someone's already recommended this one :
""My Teen Romantic Comedy Snafu" --- all 3 seasons.
It's unique in so many ways.
It's under the "slice of life", "romance", and "comedy"genres. But I think it steps out from under these labels. It's different --- in a superior way.
If a new genre ever branched off someday, "Coming-of-Age" would be the best descriptor.
"My Teen Romantic Comedy Snafu" would not only be No.1 in that genre, but it would set the standard for any others that attempted to follow. It's my favorite from this combination of overlapping genres.
I would add to that list "Violet Evergarten" and the movie "A Silent Voice".
If you give those a look, I think you'll see it too.
All the best!
I dislike all the anime here that I have watched so I’m just gonna give you anime that I also disliked but are somewhat similar to these
Air
Keep your hands of the Eizouken
Kokoro Connect
Saekano
‘Natsume Yuujinchou’ is very similar to Mushishi, but a little less mature. Still, I recommend it a lot! It has some beautiful stories and the music is so relaxing. I love Mushishi, btw. It’s my favorite anime of all time.
‘Kids on a Slope’ is also very good. It’s a music anime, about people finding each other to play jazz. I recommend it. It’s directed by Shinichirō Watanabe, which is the same guy who made Samurai Shamploo
‘Spice and Wolf’ is another recommendation. It’s sort of a romantic anime based in medieval times with economics built into it. Not sure how to explain it exactly, but it good.
Hyouka is one of my favorites.
Since I share some pretty similar interests, I liked:
- Classroom of the Elite
(Definitely has a mixed energy with ups and downs)
- The daily life of the immortal king
(Calm energy like Hyouka)

Strong recommendations.
Nice list, I’d like to add beyond the boundary, Sunday without God, and katanagatari Maybe Charlotte or 91 days as well.
BASED recommendations, i would strongly second Aria The Animation and also add to this list Natsume book of friends.
Natsume was recommended by the other comment that's why I didn't add it to my list though it is the most obvious next choice imo
Oh my god, a fellow xxxHolic fan? At this rate we might hit double digits!
And you watched all of them?
90% of them, yeah. The rest are from my PTW list

Ping Pong was not what I was expecting but it turned out to be better than I expected. I also recommend it.
ping pong is exactly how it feels to be decently good at something, and then depending on how good you actually are, you end up as one of the characters, peak.
I'm really interested in more stuff like time of Eve, I thought it was good and wouldn't mind it being a show.
