I wish we had rules about when and how often political ads could air. I don't need to be inundated with right wing propaganda while I'm trying to watch a race.
Larson getting destroyed on these restarts. Which is not surprising given this is all brand new to him. At least he is getting reps in early in the race. Absolutely worst scenario for him right now is to wreck out this early and also miss the nascar race.
NBC is giving Fox a run for their money with these commercials. I get it's under yellow but damn. There's been like 3 ad breaks with 30 seconds of updates at the track

“So far rains here pushing north of Charlotte track. Green flag at 6:22p ET.”
lol my local news station interrupted right at the state because of a tornado warning in the area, I gotta watch that but I have the Indy 500 on my laptop.
Quick question after listening to Kyle Larson interview in the car why are F1 radios so clear and NASCAR aren’t also at F1 races can fans listen to the crew and driver on a scanner?
No I understand that this is historic and important, but if you're going to have a rule that you have to start every race to qualify, then you should enforce it.
They should just get rid of the rule instead of approving every waiver request
The rule was to prevent teams that win and are playoff locked, from parking until the playoffs start to save money. Everything else is pretty well eligible, minus "not wanting to race that week".
Isn't Kyle Larson essentially saying "I have better things to do this week"? I understand the point of the rule, but to me it doesn't make sense to give the waiver for situations like this. I also felt like Elliott and Bowman shouldn't have been given the waiver last season.
If NASCAR truly wants this to be a rule, waivers should only be given for illness, injuries during a NASCAR race, or family emergencies.
If the Indy 500 isn't worth a waiver to you, I'm glad you're not the one calling the shots.
I understand your want for following rules to the letter, but like most things and history has proven, Nascar views them as guidelines and are100% understanding of reasonable exceptions.
And, yes, the Indy 500 is more important. The amount of money and dealings for this to happen say it's more important.
Ok maybe I'm not making my point clear: the entire concept of waivers is dumb, especially if you're going to give them to a driver because he's racing in a different series. Just say you have to be in the top 25 or 30 in points to be eligible. Solves the problem without the silliness of waivers
Your point wasn't lost on me, I understand what you're saying and why.
You're more concerned with getting your point across rather than understanding the concept as a whole and realizing why they do what they do. And for that reason, I'm no longer going to comment on this.

Indy won by a mile which is ironic since it's a mile longer than Charlotte
The stage break has been almost 10 laps. Awful
How the fuck did Dixon not get a penalty for that?
It’s always funny to watch drivers rubberneck or pay so much attention to the wreck in front of them that they get wrecked or nearly get wrecked.
Praying that it’s a good night for the 22 team tonight!
It feels weird to be watching the 500 & the 600 at the same time.
Was just saying the same thing. It feels wrong tbh
The weather from Indianapolis has reached Toledo, OH
Honda Engines be like "A'ight I'mma head out".
3 is out front for DAEL
What did I miss so far?
I can’t get NBC Sports, Hulu, or Peacock apps to show me the damn Indy 500. 🤬🤬🤬🤬
Got bunny ears? It’s on big NBC.
I wish we had rules about when and how often political ads could air. I don't need to be inundated with right wing propaganda while I'm trying to watch a race.
NBC will struggle without Dale Jr.

Larson getting destroyed on these restarts. Which is not surprising given this is all brand new to him. At least he is getting reps in early in the race. Absolutely worst scenario for him right now is to wreck out this early and also miss the nascar race.
4 wide????
Blistering pace being set so far….. Larson might catch the lap 200 halftime show
All the Qvist's going down.
this is giving me vibes of the 2017 Indy 500 when Honda motors were blowing up non-stop.
They were at least fast while unreliable then.
My Honda lawnmower from 2004 still works though.
So that's 2 engines and 2 cars crashed out by lap 23.
Too much rice in the rice burner! /s
Is Alan Bestwick doing the track announcing?
I miss him
yes, he is on the track PA.
Yes
Cool
They threw a caution for smoke.
Bro NASCAR throws cautions for imaginary debris
That smoke was oil. They are going 220 mph. You really want them to wait for a car to destroy the wall to see if there is oil on the track?
Can’t risk having any kind of fluid down on the track. These cars crash way too hard.
And down goes another engine
Poor Katherine…
These cars draft way too easily
That’s just the nature of fast openwheelers lol
Ok now Larson just needs to finish the race without dying
This is way too much attention the broadcast is giving Larson. If I was an Indy fan I'd be pissed.
Look at how much we gave SVG during the street race
I mean, he was fighting for the lead, leading laps, and won the race.
Yeah, and we pretty much loved SVG's involvement universally. I haven't seen a single unkind word.
Based on the comments in the IndyCar thread, they’re not huge fans of him.
5th place was out of line to pass 4th before the green, and that was ahead of Larson
Larson typically is aggressive on restarts he’s gotta have that here
The thing that went wrong is that Larson doesn't know how to restart with these cars yet.
Omg, that could have been disaster
Damn he REALLY fucked it
I think Larson forgot they restarted earlier than in NASCAR.
Nevermind. Over upshifted.
That was almost disastrous for Kyle
Oofff Chase Elliott restart for the 17
Man Larson almost got ran tf over
Larson expecting a nascar restart?
This broadcast got caught with their pants down for the green flag.
Oof, Larson completely missed that start
Larson getting used up on the starts
Had tickets to the Coke 600. Got rear ended about a mile away before I parked, now I’m gonna miss it.
That’s quitters talk! /s Hope you’re okay.
Damn, we already down to 29 cars left.
Indycars are finickiest race cars I've ever seen
This is gonna be one of those races isn't it?
Well now that’s unfortunate
god this is so chaotic
NBC is giving Fox a run for their money with these commercials. I get it's under yellow but damn. There's been like 3 ad breaks with 30 seconds of updates at the track
Still doesn’t feel as bad as the Daytona 500 this and last year.
Christ, enough of the "feel good" stories. All sports need to ditch this shit.
Can’t wait to watch Axel F lol
Honda implosion starting early huh
Race control making sure Larson doesn’t make it to CMS at all today lol
Did race control blow someone's motor and extend the yellow?
Yea, she was running that Alinol stuff from Cars 2.
and i thought fox's commercial breaks were bad.
What are we missing? Nothing.
Turn the race into 6 segments you say. NASCAR’s ears just perked up.
Alright lets try this again?
To help waive off the bad luck for Jimmie Jam, I vote Cindric and Zane Smith for the lap 1 wreck in Charlotte.
Not all heroes wear capes
Cindric already wrecked the last two, take someone else
Whos in the 50, JJ Yaley? We can sacrifice him.
50’s Ty Dillon, 44 is yeley. I’d say one of those two or BJ McCloud. Those three are probably gonna finish last three running anyway
CMS needs to put this on the big screen
https://x.com/bobpockrass/status/1794833272087740596?s=46&t=hH0HWL7Ca99Hcbc8v22_Hw “So far rains here pushing north of Charlotte track. Green flag at 6:22p ET.”
Oh please don't. I can't afford any delays!
Is this thread going to become a NASCAR/Indycar hybrid thread once the 600 starts?
Unlike Larson, we’ll do the double here
500/600 and High Limit happening here
It’s has been for a couple hours now
Come on NASCAR, everyone is doing it, first lap wreck in the 600
They've all been hard hits too. Predicting a hard, Davey Allison-esqe, front stretch hit
Involving a Haas driver
With a veteran at the back getting caught up in it.
Is Jimmie in the race? lol
Yes, he is…
Yes.
Then it'll definitely be him
.....
How do sports book handle a driver not starting the race? If I bet against Larson in matchups it's guaranteed money isn't it?
I would put bets on others as their odds will be going down if Larson doesn't start.
Would depend on the sportsbook and fine print but I would imagine they would void it before the start of the race.
Some cells are in the Charlotte area, let’s hope for the worst
Hell nah. Selfishly I want others to make up points on Larson and win stages
The track already announced they’re racing to 8:15…. Failing to even get into 5th gear so Far isn’t ideal
Would be really nice if the NBC Sports app would stop crashing. I’m trying to watch (well, more listen to) a race here.
Both races today so far have had big wrecks on lap 1. We gonna go three for three with the 600?
Good thing they put a catchfence up in turn 3 a couple years ago, they might need it Oh no what have I done no please not like this!!!
Well so much for having a quick little clean race huh? Is it gonna be one of *those* 500s?...oh boy....
Tool 4 hours to go green, took 2 turns to go yellow.
Why does Indy have so many seats tarped off in the short chutes?
Track can seat like 400,000 people. Defi Italy gonna have some vacancies.
Shhh, only nascar does that… lol that’s what they say
Man what a fucking hit by Marcus holy shit, and they weren't going that fast either....jeeeesus
That was the definition of running out of talent. He just busted ass at half speed
Hot start for Larson if he wanted to miss as few laps as possible….
lol my local news station interrupted right at the state because of a tornado warning in the area, I gotta watch that but I have the Indy 500 on my laptop.
Dedication my man, stay safe though
Stay safe.
So Monaco and Indy had a lap 1 crash. Who wrecks out tonight at Charlotte Lap 1?
Jimmie: ![gif](giphy|74ZOAgI9Al0Dm|downsized)
Cindric
Allgaier
Jimmie Johnson
.....
Jimmie
I mean... I cant argue this but come the fuck on.
The math is mathing
Sorry, it was the low hanging fruit :(
: ( its alright. By contract I cannot bitch after the amount of luck it took for him to get the 7th.
So both races today had a lap 1 crash…
Lets go for 3!
I feel like Lap 1 crashes usually happen after weather delays
Well that was fast
Let's goooo!!!...and stop
So 2 of 3 of the Brits are already out of the race? Damn.
Wow. Fun to wait all that time only to not make a single corner.
Larson not in it
Throws glove Safety worker: Oh hey you dropped this here you go
Why do drivers always lose their damn minds after a delay…
I don’t normally watch Indy, why do the announcers scream so much?
Because they’re actually good commentators
Well that was quick
Oof! Well that didnt take long damn
BOOOO
It's been a while since we got a turn 1 lap 1 wreck holy shit
2012 Daytona 500 vibes
My first thought too
Shit show. Did I do NASCAR subreddit correctly?
People do love to use that word around here 🤣
Jesus Christ hahahaha
That didn't take long.
Here we go!
Well, it wasn't Larson
It might be 4 hours late, but I got my pizza, got my boba, it's the Indy 500 baby.
Here we go!!
WOOOO
Pull those belts tight one more time
The things I would do to have NBC broadcast the Daytona 500
If I'm about 4 miles LoS from CMS, would it be possible to get any team signals with my scanner?
Ironically I now have a severe thunderstorm warning in my area lol.
Uhhh personally speaking, that being Kyles teammate is not a good omen.
Sucks for Ilott.
Quick question after listening to Kyle Larson interview in the car why are F1 radios so clear and NASCAR aren’t also at F1 races can fans listen to the crew and driver on a scanner?
F1 uses digital radios. Pretty much cellphones.
Very interesting!
Larson wishes this was the mic he used in 2020

I didn't realize Churchill Downs was that big. Can we get a Truck race there?
🤣
Well I guess Allgaier is getting his once every other year cup start tonight.
Larson getting a playoff waiver is kind of BS, but so is the entire championship format in NASCAR so it's ok
Why? Cuz he's doing something awesome? You really can't comprehend why he'd get one?
No I understand that this is historic and important, but if you're going to have a rule that you have to start every race to qualify, then you should enforce it. They should just get rid of the rule instead of approving every waiver request

Is Kyle Larson the most complete driver alive currently? Maybe I am biased
I would argue Mario Andretti but Larson is up there for sure
Ok how about “active” hahaha
Yeah I’d agree with that, dude can drive anything
LET'S GO LARSON, BRING US TO GLORY
I don’t even like him, but I hope he runs well.
I sure would love to hear what Larson is saying
Tony Stewart’s double may never be beaten. Hopefully Larson does it again next year. I think a year of experience and he will be a legit contender.
I became a Tony fan because he did the double. It was great!!!
And we are moving. Pulling for Larson to have a great showing today. Good luck Kyle!
Step 1: Get that radio fixed lol
not really a larson fan on most sundays, but pulling for that boy today...
Roger low key enjoying making sure NASCAR gets screwed out of their half of the hype.
