We used Save on Foods delivery when we were stuck at home with covid. It was decent!

hbprof

I second this. I used them for the same reason, and had zero complaints.

Save-On has worked well for me -- they have large delivery windows for a small fee (ex. 3pm - 10pm for $4.95) or smaller windows for a higher fee (ex. 12pm - 2pm for $9.95). They've always arrived within the window, though usually right at the end of it. They also usually call or text when they are getting close so that you can be ready. Their app is decent and I generally get exactly what I asked for. They bring everything in bins on a handcart so it's easy to get groceries right to your door and the drivers/delivery people have all been very nice.

Save-On also has really good policy on returns/rejects. If some of your groceries don't look good enough(ie not so fresh produce) the delivery person will take it back and automatically credit you for it. The couple of times we found they had given us expired product, the customer service line has given us a refund no questions asked.

Doodlefish25

Do NOT do Walmart delivery. Used to be very good, at some point they switched out their in-house people and trucks for door dash.

I haven't tried any yet. Preferably ones that have a delivery window that is dependable.

Save On without a doubt! Pre-Covid I would have said Instacart but as soon as the lockdown occurred every person with a car signed up to be personal shoppers (how hard can it be?). Service became so bad and prices rose to a laughable amount. Save On has in store shoppers and company paid drivers with refrigerated trucks. Are they perfect, no, but at least we got 85% of our list without faults and other than supply chain issues we only returned a handful of items over two years. I tried DoorDash at Walmart once and the experience was so bad that I ended up throwing out so much I never considered a second attempt.

Any grocery stores but Save on do it? They're pretty decent usually. The one thing I've noticed they don't do is make a point to prefer products with expiry dates in the distant future. They're just concerned with the quickest item in stock to give to you. Nevermind that it expires tomorrow. But other than that, not had a problem with them, though the long delivery windows kinda suck. Tried groceries at a few delivery services that aren't actually the grocery store, and they were complete dogshit with fucked up quantities, missing items, stupid drivers, everything. No I do not want to order 80lbs of jalapeno peppers. Nor do I care that you can't fulfill an order that large, I didn't ask for it....

Yeah, this is why I stick with Save on Foods. So tired of getting slabs of pork and other weird stuff that is by no means a substitute!

Azuvector

Yeah. "You ordered limes. Are lemons okay?" "I mean, they're both citrus fruits, but they're pretty different...."

sideshow_em

It really depends on who the shopper is. I've had some awful substitutions from Save-On. One time I ordered baking yeast and they gave me brewer's yeast instead, another I ordered small kitchen compost bags and they gave me the large garden bags instead.

That’s at least on the ball park — Instacart is WAY more creative 😂

UNIVAC-9400

Could've been worse - at least you didn't get Marmite! 😂

gravitationalarray

Very happy with Save-on. I used to rely on Spud, but they're so expensive now!

Commanderfemmeshep

We also use SaveOn (when I can't make it to Costco). They've been very reliable, and all the drivers are really friendly-- we know a few of them now. Have never tried Instacart but I know a few people who got burned by weird subs and stuff. Save-On is good with the substitutions for the most part!

mooonriverrr

We love love spud !!! Mostly local Farmers and produce and quite affordable organic stuff

Thanks guys! Looks like save on is the winner so far. Has anyone tried superstore?

bbnotinmyhouse

I did and wouldn’t recommend. This is no crack against the regular employees that work at superstore. The higher ups off-load deliveries to a delivery start-up so if there’s a mix-up or groceries are never delivered, you get a total runaround for a refund. It’s also not uncommon to order the groceries and, because it’s not regular employees making them, they just keep them for themselves.

ChelloMarshmallow

We are using Superstore, they have a promo to charge $100 for grocery delivery for a year. So far we’ve been happy with their delivery service

Really appreciate all of the feedback so far. Thank you 😊 I am a regular shopper at Safeway though I usually go there.

As someone who’s worked all these shopping services it’s funny to see the peoples perspectives on the end result…. As correct or incorrect as they may be.
