Yeah I’m not overly keen but the more I look at them, the more I’m interested. I look forward to seeing on-foot and in person images, I feel that could change a lot of people’s minds.
Ye the right colorway could make em pop. They look too weird to be dad shoes and too retro to give off the oncloud finance bro look so those are both pluses imo. Rather hated than basic!
Looks like an amalgamation of Nike Air Max models, particularly the 97 with hints of the 95. Silver Bullet 97s are one of my all time favorite sneakers, but I don’t need an imitation of them, I already have the real deal.
I can see the resemblance but I don’t think it’s fair to call these an imitation. It’s a 25 year old silhouette, which only released two years on from the OG 97. These are a bit on the chunkier side, as is New Balance’s M.O with most releases. I’m not keen personally but they have their own charm and looking at the 2002 and 1906, no doubt NB will slightly tweak some elements in due course. It’s a quintessential y2k runner, which is currently on trend and I can see a lot of people going for them.
Yeah but a lot of running shoes from that era followed a similar aesthetic. Sure, the kinetic panelling is reminiscent of the 97, which is especially magnified with this colourway, but I think they can definitely co-exist.
It’s like saying the Nike Dunk low is an imitation of the NB 480, they’re similar but that’s it.
I suppose, but these just seem redundant if you already have some 97s. It’s a bit like buying all 3 of the Kith Asics that just released. Not saying these are terrible, just that to my eye, it looks like a worse Air Max 97.
It also has the same tongue and lacing system as the 95 and 97.
I don't think there's anything wrong with taking inspiration from different shoe brands they do it all the time and I think they did it here 2 years after the 97.
The 97 has hidden eyelets and a pull tab at the tongue so I don’t quite see the resemblance there, maybe it’s closer to the 95 but still, they’re all unique in their own way. The former was designed by someone who started out at Reebok and you can see a similar design language there and the 95 came from a dude who worked at ACG and the approach shoe influence is clear. There is rarely such thing as original design and that’s okay.
The 95 has that exact same strip that comes down the middle of the tongue and hides the laces It's pretty much identical on the 1000.
Sergio Lozano Designed the 95 he was also doing a bunch of ACG stuff at the time Any designed the 95 for heavier Runners who needed more cushioning.
Christian Tresser Did the 97 inspired through nature and mountain biking.
I agree with the original design thing and it being okay .
Some of those design elements is what makes me Excited about this silhouette though I think it looks pretty cool. All it needs is some good colorways and it can be a hit. I mean as long as it's not too much of a hit I'd like to get some shit on sale soon.
I hate everyone we've seen so far except for the Joe Fresh Goods Pairs which I think really look good. But the silhouette is kind of weird and hard to judge without seeing a bunch of different on feet pics.
I do get it has some inspiration from the Air Max 97 and 95 but both of those shoes are infinitely better classic Timeless Silhouettes.
But I would like to get that Joe Fresh Goods color shift darker pair because they look a lot like the 97 Skepta Which resale is way above my blood for that shoe and it's a super duper Grail. I think it totally inspired jfg to do that shoe that color.
But I'm not completely opposed to the silhouette like some others are. I just really don't like the two-tone like the green pair and the Pepto-Bismol pink pair. This silver pair looks pretty decent but I think the Joe Fresh Goods pairs look exceptional.
The Black Ice JFGs have grown on me significantly. That pic of them hanging from the metal folding chair in particular makes them look really good. I want to see some more on foot pics with something other than wide-leg track pants tho…
They do look exceptionally good in that picture you just mentioned. Definitely the best picture we've seen of them yet. I can't do the wide leg thing So I agree with you. Definitely want some on foot real life case scenario pictures.
Love these and will get them. I like to get the original CW for the collection. I do not know if I read it right but wouldn’t they release MIUS pairs from this model?
I’m not sure if the og 1000 was miusa in the first place but the 2002r for example, first released as a made in USA model but when it got retro’d a few years ago it wasn’t - so it almost definitely won’t happen with these. Although I’d love to see limited miusa runs of current “standard” models.
I love the silhouette but will wait and see what other colors/materials they do with this shoe
There’s a green and white pair in suede/ leather that I think is the best we’ve seen so far.
That green and sail colorway looked real nice to me too.
Different materials could change my mind, but I hate shiny shoes like patent leather
Hmmm. This model is weird. I think I like it? We’ll see what colorways come out. If everyone hates it, all the better. I’ll snag it on sale somewhere!

Easy pass on this silhouette.
Agree. Too chunky for my liking
🙋🏽♂️
Sick silhouette tbh. Love it
Fire🔥🔥🔥
Nice
Shipping cost probably $50 but I’m so ready, I’ve been edging this release for months
Try to cop JFGs pink one

If it released originally 2 years after the AM97, doesn’t that reinforce my point that it’s an imitation of the AM97?

Hard nope on this model
The more I see these the more I don’t like this model. They look like Air Max 97/98
They do. I was thinking silver bullet when I saw this
Maybe we’re getting an actually comfortable 97 lol
97s have the worst comfort, almost as bad as my vapormax plus. 97s are my daily beaters tho so can’t hate too hard
Which sucks cause they’re one of the best looking air max’s
Loving this pair. This GR and the JFGs are really nice
Very interested
I was sold on the JFG Black Ice but this colourway has kinda unsold me... we'll see I guess.

personally not the style I’m going for when I buy new balance lol. seems good with the 2000s nostalgia resurgence though.
Not off first glance, but I can see these growing on me👌🏿
Ngl, was expecting these to be $160, tops, but was thinking $140 or $150.
Ikr? This is like 180ish US $. Seems steep.
Wild they post it up for a whole month wait. Well at least we know one place that will have them.
More retailers will be dropping release info in the coming weeks.
I'll do the light JFG 1000S
This model is right up my alley. Will probably be grabbing a good amount of these cws.
How do you style shoes this dad-core and still keep a contemporary look?
You’ve either got it or you don’t. That’s up to you innit.
Word
Model looks dope. I saw some future color ways earlier and they looked nice.
I wouldn't wear these but I think they're cool
I’m a sucker for metallic color ways but I’m not sold on the silhouette yet. We’ll see. 🤔
I want the JFG one. I like the colorway better
Love these and will get them. I like to get the original CW for the collection. I do not know if I read it right but wouldn’t they release MIUS pairs from this model?
Nah these aren’t made in USA.
I know these are not US made but, maybe they would made a US made version of NB 1000. Possible that I read it wrong.

I'm def going for the silver and black. Also the purple JFG. Wasn't feeling any of the other CW's
I'm good.
Imma pass. I don’t do shiny shoes
We need a courdroy version with multiple colorblocking.. Aka NB SEAN wotherspoons
Someone else suggested that, I’m all for it.
Twas me 😁
Twas me 😁
Nope.
This is probably where I draw the likely 00s runners with some metallic? Cool. This? I dunno man
I like these a lot and I think I'm going to try for a pair
Need em. I've been waiting for NB to bring back these type early 00s shoes
These remind me of air Max’s
Are these considered a “made in USA” model?
No 👍
Does someone know how thick/warm this shoe is?
Model doesn’t do it for me
It's a no for me
The true test of a brand is releasing garbage like this and seeing if people get hyped about it
They should drop these in a tweed
Looks like Ken Griffeys
Not for me. It looks hideous
