One of my industrial frigates is named Nostromo. I also have industrial frigates named Ishimura, Event Horizon and a couple of other scifi horror spaceship names.
I'm looking for an A class support frigate so I can name it Nebuchadnezzar. I won't accept anything less than an A for that name though. I know the Matrix isn't horror, but their real world is scary enough I think.
I just want to throw this out there in case you didn't know. They upgrade their class on their own as they go out on expeditions. I got most of my frigates at C class and all of them are S class now, and most are near or at the max rank. Rank is separate, as their stats will continue to increase even past S class until they've hit 55 expeditions.
Mine is also a nip-nip farm, but it is cleverly hidden behind a hydroponics setup for everything else, which was part of my freighter base build pre-endurance update when the hydroponic planters could be built on the freighter. Unless one both knows where to look and has the required security credentials, it is unlikely for anyone to find them.
First one I named the MS Uedama, after an infamous system in EVE Online. Then I got a pirate dreadnought and named that one the MS Ahbazon, after an even more infamous such system.
MS just stands for "my ship", lol.
Early on I tried a few different names from the Iain Banks books but eventually named my current one after my cat. (Who is named for a small town in Greenland.)

1. Battlestar Mancunia; the way the freighter pops into a system followed by the fleet of frigates reminds me of the Battlestar Galactica series and the Latin name for Manchester is Mancunia.
2. HMS Keano; reference to Roy Keane.
3. Class of ‘92; reference to David Beckham, Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs,the Neville brothers and Nicky Butt.
4. Trotters Independent Traders; reference to the TV series “Only Fools and Horses” due to the trading playstyle of the save.
5. Oil Drum Lane; reference to the TV series “Steptoe and Son” due to the salvage playstyle of the save.
6. USS Tiberius; it’s an Enterprise class freighter so a nod to James T. Kirk of Star Trek. Went for USS rather than HMS to reflect the Enterprise’s designation.
7. Astra Terminator; revolver class freighter. I liked the name of this revolver for a starship.
8. Golden Hind; galleon class freighter. The Golden Hind is probably one of the most famous galleons in history.
9. Eye of the Tiger; it’s an orange Iris class freighter.
10. The Black Pearl; pirate dreadnought freighter, so a nod to the Pirates of the Caribbean series.
11. HMS Broadsword; Blade class freighter.
12. HMS Erasure; Sentinel class freighter so a nod to the sentinels programming to erase civilisation.

VCM-1 Time Bandit
Why: As an ode to the movie Time Bandits which has time travel as a theme.
If you’re not familiar with the movie, a group of dwarves steal a map of “space time” from the supreme being and use it to steal treasure throughout time etc. It’s a neat movie.
I thought the name was fitting not just for the time travel aspect but also, the ship is crewed by Geks and they are short like dwarves.
Also, for the time it takes to travel my ship’s maximum distance in real time (~2500ly for about ~15-20 second warp cutscene), she isn’t just hauling ass, she’s breaking the laws of known physics.
Travellers tempest. Sounded cool and a little poetic.
Then.
I name my traveling ship the Tempests Gale, like a wind that comes off a tempest.
**Then.**
I name my combat ship the Hammering Hail. Because that does the most damage directly.
BlackDwarf.
Cause I like the Red dwarf show, but my huge pirate capital ship was black.
And the thing about space, the colour of space, the basic space colour, is it black.
So who's gonna see it then?
Hence dwarf. I guess.
ISS Juggernaut. It was the first name that came to mind when I saw my freighter and it stuck. Spent days building a base on it but never got to completing it cause it almost hit the part limit.😭
Ooo this is fun. Mine are extremely nerdy.
Very first freighter: F/C-1 Thrawn. F/C for Fleet Command, and Thrawn because I'm a huge Star Wars nerd, and it was a Imperial-class freighter.
When I found my S-Class Resurgent-class I named it F/C-2 Tarkin.
When I started a new pirate save it was before the Omega update so I had a Battleship-class Sentinel freighter named P/V-99 Luffy. P/V for Pirate Vessel, 99 for the year One Piece started and Luffy because I had just started watching One Piece (and I will never ever finish).
Lastly, after the Omega update I knew I needed a pirate dreadnought for my pirate save, so I named it P/V-23 Zheng. 23 for the year Our Flag Means Death ended, and Zheng after the pirate queen Zheng Yi Sao.
A freighter in one of my saves is a 7-segment Sentinel freighter. There was a brief graphics bug which made every other segment disappear, so it looked like five separate freighter parts floating together. The bug has since been fixed (sadly no screenshots).
I named the freighter "Trance Gate", in reference to an effect where a step-sequenced gate is applied to a sound (in Trance - hence the name - and sometimes Techno, this sound is usually a drone made with pads, or a SuperSaw lead, but it can be any sound really). The gaps in the sequence make the sound rhythmical. So the freighter looked like someone applied a Trance Gate to it because of the gaps left by the disappearing segments.
Sorry, I had to geek out. [This track at around 2:10](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_kdfqdDMdf0) has a choir-like sound where a Trance Gate was applied. Off-topic, but this is one of the only contemporary tracks from Armin that I consider good. He and Tiësto were *much* better back in 2008 and earlier IMO.

Beelzebub CV-7 - It's a pirate freighter and was named something like "Bezel"-something "CV7" and I just automatically thought Beelzebub would sound like a pirate ship.
I had a Venator type Resurgent class that I named ISS Lusankya.
I've since switched to a pirate freighter, but haven't named it yet.
Lusankya was the name of a Star wars Super Star Destroyer

CM-117 Avalon! CM-117 because it's a shortened version of my gamertag on Xbox and I love Arthurian legends so, yeah, Avalon. The mythical island where Excalibur was created! I plan on making a landscape focal point in the center of my freighter base and do my best to make it look like a sword in stone. Which, depending on the telling of the story, is Excalibur or Caliburn. For me, it's Excalibur.
HSS Valkyrie (HSS = HyperSpace Ship). Im currently taking the time to make the outside of it look like the LOD model that it spawned with (the two conn towers behind the bridge section); no easy task.
I asked my sister to name my freighter. We both grew up playing a lot of video games, especially JRPGs like Final Fantasy. I told her it was the biggest ship in its class (resurgent venator.) and that my color theme for the game was orange and yellow, which were originally intended as sort of high vis/safety colors, since this game is more about building and exploration than combat. She decided on SS Fat Chocobo, and I loved it immediately.
While we're at it: I painted my bike red, named it Kaneda and I absolutely do the Akira slide every time I stop. My Interceptor is orange, kind of has tail feathers, and is mean as hell, so it got named Sun Shrike.
I have a whole naming scheme for my Navy and it's been so long I can't remember what the acronyms stand for but in short:
Naming convention prefix is similar to UK HMS but I translated to Spanish I think.
- All regular ships use OMT-(#) naming convention named after anything from famous ships, battles, tweaked default game names etc.
- Pirate Vessels are OMT-(ABC) and are simply nicknames like Ironsides, Meat Grinder, etc.
- Support Vessels follow PEtO-(Roman Numeral) guidelines which is derived from some navies having different designations based on ship type. These are reserved for notable American servicemen, currently Cassius Clay, Daniel Daly and Joe Medicine Crow.
As for my freighter, it's OMT-O Halberd's Edge which I believe I just tweaked the default name to include a preferred weapon of one of my favorite videogame characters.
"The Ninth Planet." My name pretty much everywhere is "Nine," and it's kinda fun to be like... Whatever solar system I'm in, my home base is on the ninth planet!
Disco Volante. Generally a good name for a space ship (being Italian for Flying Saucer) but also because it's the ship of the greatest badass ever to grace the multiverse. He's so cool he doesn't even need to be named.
I have a stranded S class freighter. I am still looking for S class pirate freighter. I originally named her HMS go feck yourself, but the filter now stars out feck.
Her new name is HMS Go frack yourself.
On a side note, I have just finished rewatching the original and the 2004 Battlestar Galactica, I would love to have the Galactica as my freighter.

For the same reason the outside of my freighter base is full of grass and trees.
SS Resolute, close to 100 warps to find my S class pirate dreadnought with three touching supercharged slots, the right crew, and another 350 warps to find her fleet of multiclass living frigates. Add another 50 to find my four squadron ships (all living ships with complimentary colors) and you have a truly ridiculous fleet.
The dreadnaught. All white with black accent sentinel class fully stacked. Honestly because KH2.
But it matches my white solar, the white moth, and my speeder, dreadmaw
For some reason my freighter name changes between my main save and the name of the freighter from the Frontier expedition. I have not yet figured out why. That said, I just haven’t bothered to name it because it doesn’t seem to know which name it wants.
I keep the procedurally generated names for most things except for bases because otherwise I can't keep track of what base is what.
I take great joy in finding stuff with cool names. Freighter names are generally ass though, but I can't be bothered to rename it. It's my only freighter, whether it's called [something Japanese-sounding and a number] or Boaty McBoatface is absolutely irrelevant to me.
I usually just look at something for a second and think of words and whatever sounds either funny or cool is what I pick. I have a dreadnought and they look like star destroyers so I named it celestial deconstructor.
Dark Horizons
Back when I played Eve Online I fell in love with a few names for ships I came up with. Dark Horizons was a sniper-fitted Sansha battleship designed for long range and max volley damage. It was great.
The name of my carrier was Divergence and I think I may change my freighter soon.

I told her it was the biggest ship in its class (resurgent venator.) and that my color theme for the game was orange and yellow, which were originally intended as sort of high vis/safety colors, since this game is more about building and exploration than combat. She decided on SS Fat Chocobo, and I loved it immediately. While we're at it: I painted my bike red, named it Kaneda and I absolutely do the Akira slide every time I stop. My Interceptor is orange, kind of has tail feathers, and is mean as hell, so it got named Sun Shrike.

I have a whole naming scheme for my Navy and it's been so long I can't remember what the acronyms stand for but in short: Naming convention prefix is similar to UK HMS but I translated to Spanish I think. - All regular ships use OMT-(#) naming convention named after anything from famous ships, battles, tweaked default game names etc. - Pirate Vessels are OMT-(ABC) and are simply nicknames like Ironsides, Meat Grinder, etc. - Support Vessels follow PEtO-(Roman Numeral) guidelines which is derived from some navies having different designations based on ship type. These are reserved for notable American servicemen, currently Cassius Clay, Daniel Daly and Joe Medicine Crow. As for my freighter, it's OMT-O Halberd's Edge which I believe I just tweaked the default name to include a preferred weapon of one of my favorite videogame characters.

Add another 50 to find my four squadron ships (all living ships with complimentary colors) and you have a truly ridiculous fleet.

For some reason my freighter name changes between my main save and the name of the freighter from the Frontier expedition. I have not yet figured out why. That said, I just haven’t bothered to name it because it doesn’t seem to know which name it wants.

I keep the procedurally generated names for most things except for bases because otherwise I can't keep track of what base is what. I take great joy in finding stuff with cool names. Freighter names are generally ass though, but I can't be bothered to rename it. It's my only freighter, whether it's called [something Japanese-sounding and a number] or Boaty McBoatface is absolutely irrelevant to me.
I named my freighter, an A-class pirate ship, after the debut album of the german krautrock band Amon Düül II: Phallus Dei.
DSV-2 Cierein Croin, after a giant sea serpent from Celtic mythology.
I usually just look at something for a second and think of words and whatever sounds either funny or cool is what I pick. I have a dreadnought and they look like star destroyers so I named it celestial deconstructor.
I have one called the behemoth. And another called Big Burrito and the frigates are taco, nachos, etc, etc.

Dark Horizons Back when I played Eve Online I fell in love with a few names for ships I came up with. Dark Horizons was a sniper-fitted Sansha battleship designed for long range and max volley damage. It was great. The name of my carrier was Divergence and I think I may change my freighter soon.
