I'm just going to point out 3 things here.
1. She was 49 in 1998 when they shot this movie.
2. Women of that age then, and even now hardly ever get cast as a sex symbol. Perhaps because they where supposed to all be past their prime?
3. She killed it. Looked nothing like that age and very in her prime.

IIRC for Galaxy Quest she explicitly asked to be depicted as sexier than her other roles which is kind of ironic given this comment lol

I remember going to the theaters with my friends; they were 17 and I was 16. Plan was to buy Galaxy Quest tix but sneak into The Hurricane movie. Well, I got kicked out of there but they let me go watch Galaxy Quest instead. Thought it was going to be lame but wow what a huge surprise I thoroughly enjoyed it. Friends didn't really care for the Hurricane so I'm glad it turned out the way it did.
She got 14 year old me interested in that movie after being a fan of her from Ghostbusters and her as Ripley.
I was never attracted to her until this movie and she was just such a stunner. Then 14 year old me found out she was 50 in this movie and I was blown away.
Fun fact: she smuggled that wig after the movie and wore it to the Alien anniversary premiere and all the cast from Galaxy Quest was there rooting for her

This is one of the best movies ever made. Play this to an audience and The Snoozefather (godfather) in another theater and I bet one group will have a new favorite movie, and you'll have to wake the godfather people up.
I love Ripley BAB (Bad As\* Bit\*h) but this is about the only movie I ever found here attractive in. She just never did it for me. Even in the underwear scene at the end of Alien.

She is way too hot for that role. Hot to the point that it wouldn't make sense for her to be doing conventions for the appearance fees.
Have you ever been to a pop-culture convention? There are dozens of actresses with autograph and picture booths who might be past their glory days of acting, but who still look gorgeous even today. A girl's still gotta make money and pay the bills after all.
Not arguing and didn't mean to sound that way, sorry. I just wanted to make sure people know that just because an actor fades away from the limelight, doesn't mean everything else about them does as well. In the movie, her fans still loved her, and in their eyes she will always be relevant!
