The former mayor and a local business woman helped champion a Go Fund Me to help pay the fines and continue the threats against the state.
That business woman and mayor also worked to overtake the city government and school board through threats and intimidation, including the use of Proud Boys and out-of-town Nazis (they actually identifed themselves as Nazis). The school board just passed a charter school that was originally partnered with the right wing Hillsdale College, which aims to enroll 50 percent of area students. Two nights ago, someone ripped up a pride flag outside the house of a local teacher that came out as trans. Interesting times here in this once peaceful little town.
