yeah but you lose money by the time you make them into lightbulbs. stone=2gold, glass pane= 13 gold, lightbulb=34gold. one glass pane is ten stone, and one lightbulb is two glass panes, so to make one light bulb that sells for 32gold, you need 40gold worth of stone.
Make glass panes!! It takes 10 stones to make 1 glass pane. Then make light bulbs. I’ve just been getting into furniture making and you needs lots of them☺️
And if you leave the panes and/or bulbs sitting in their crafters you've both got them on hand for when needed *and* opened inventory space ... to make room for more stone.
I actually use the crafters as storage too 😆 I only take 1 slot of the finished product to keep producing and/or if I need some of it for use 🤭 it’s very handy especially with planks and bars. Also I’ve been making it to furnitures now since furnitures don’t really count when you put it on your chest storage. I just keep making even though I don’t know how imma decorate my house yet. When i do i don’t have to run around and wait for stuff later on 😅
Buy chest upgrade recipes at Tish’s shop. The Bronze chest recipe costs 25k gold and the Iron chest recipe is 50k. You need a basic chest to craft a Bronze chest and a Bronze chest to craft the Iron chest. :D

I tried to get away from my hoarding ways by selling the insane amount of wood I had...only to remember I still needed to increase my furniture skill...to which those were the main thing needed, and now they were gone. That was a sign that hoarding is the only way because you just never know. 😭

I’ve gotten to a point in the game where I don’t need lots of money all the time so I’ve finally started keeping starstones instead of selling and they are just piling up it’s beautiful. I’m also very partial to Proudhorned Stag Beetles. I think I have 30-40 in my inventory atm. 😅
I turned one of my rooms into a library and built a bunch of bookcases in there. Since we don't have books to put in them, I've been putting stones on the shelves. Really looks nice. Also, I've been putting them on wall shelves.
I was going to saw yes before I saw all the comments; I try to keep 1 of everything, a few extras if I know their gifts and harder to come by; that and big stacks of supplies for furniture but since I’ve gotten maxed storage I’m never anywhere close to full so guess I’m not so bad lol
It’s pretty great, i just always stop at Sales Bin as soon as I get home and dump as much as I can and making as much furniture as I can because that keeps the material stacks low. I also am working on building 1) a little cafe that I will store lots of stare quality food in and 2) a kind of museum for trophies and storing star quality bugs and such so it’s kind of just hoarding I. Your house instead of your storage box. I look at it as half the game is gathering so if I don’t have something I need it’s just like a new mini quest to go find it. Still never sell off the rarer stuff though.

I'm a chronic hoarder. In WoW, on my oldest character, my banks and void storage too were always full, so it spilled over and my inventory was always at least half full too. In this case though, it was primarily nostalgia, old stuff I couldn't get anymore or that brought back memories; then neat stuff I could use but that didn't go into the toy collection.
Honestly, I'm sort of a hoarder IRL, for both of those reasons. 😄
I'm glad I'm not the only one! Over all my alts I have arrows, reagents, reputation items, and previously useable things like idols that are all grey now.
On that note I got my first starred Fairy Mantis last night. I built a museum/nature center just for this reason. I was hoarding bugs and fish, now I have somewhere to look at them. 😀
I wonder if it would make sense to start working on building the components (if you have the gold to buy the permits), even if you don't assemble them in their final form? I don't *think* the completed rooms take up storage space (much like furniture), though I could certainly be wrong...

Exactly! I have some pal bars specifically made for giving away. I don’t like the furniture that you need them for (I like the wood furniture pieces) so now it’s just a giveaway item. I kinda want to see how much I can sell all my pal for. Not that I’m going to do it tho, because it took A LONG time to collect😅

I see people referring to a second plot. It's this different than the main one you get in the beginning? I've just unlocked all of the squares on mine. So will I eventually get a chance to get another piece of land? And how do you get bigger storage chests?
Tish sells recipes for the bigger boxes, plus some for boxes you can lock! The items in the locked ones don't get pulled out for crafting.
On the switch, you push down on the left joystick to get to the house menu, then hit + and it opens a drop down menu. You should have one extra house plot by default, and you can buy more. Buying more is how you eventually unlock the gazebo for purchase.
Ok, on the boxes, that's great. As far as the plot goes, I'm still a little confused. When you start the game, you get the area to put your tent, and it has multiple "boxes" around it that you can purchase writs for with renown. Are these boxes what you are referring to as plots? Or will I eventually get a chance to get another area just like when we started the game?
That's on your existing plot, it's just a way to expand the plot. Additional plots can be purchased from the housing menu, and they are not a new area, it's the same area as your first plot, it will include the boxes you've unlocked with renown, and I think any trees and rocks you didn't remove on your main plot, and it also has a mailbox and shipping box. Any furniture or buildings on your main plot aren't accessible from additional plots though, so you can build new stuff.
Some people use them to make museums with their star quality bugs and fish, additional houses they want to make, some display their extra furniture or just place furniture on extra plots so they don't have to scroll through all the furniture in storage and whatnot. Some just leave them empty.

Yeah I don't like it, but found it easier to stay out longer cause I super dislike the fact that in a world where we appear from cosmic dust, and the wood doesn't burn of a bookcase with a lit candle in the middle; that we are restricted in our non hoarding XD

Rainbow Tipped butterflies, Proudhorn antlers, heartdrop lilies and palium...no nvm not palium since I do give it away, but the other three I have no reason to have an abundance of.
Oh, also the star stones. I only sell when I run out of storage and it's always Garnet that gets kicked out. Lol.
My first obsession was the briar daisy. I spent hours each day to find where it spawns and wouldn’t return home without having at least 20 daisies. Before that it was Palium…. After reaching the psychological limit of 1000 briar daisies I started collecting Dragon’s Beard Peat……. I stopped at 800 only because I discovered the corals and now the Golden Glory Bee 🐝
i kinda learned from stardew to always keep a bundle of stuff in case npcs need or want them(especially for Tish). my storage is always pretty full but can still handle a bit more when i need to temporarily throw a bunch of random stuff in to clear my inventory.
I had no inventory space because I had 750+ of one wood, plus I think over 500 of another. Also keep pretty fish and insects for a while that aren't star quality so I can't display them.🤣

I horde ores, bars, wood, planks bricks and food. My storage is always full until I cook a bunch of foods. I only have 2 of each crafter. (Smelters, preserve jars, seed makers, worm farms, ECT..) so it's hard to put things in them to make something from them because they're always full making stuff too.
I have three smelters, one glass maker, three sawmills, 10 preserve jars, and 6 seed makers. Oh and two glow worm farms, my regular worm farm is in storage. I think I have room for two more crafters.
How do you get more than 2 of each one? I'd love to get more preserves jars because it's where my gold star crops go to make money, but I can only have 2.
Oh I can't afford crafting licences. Don't they cost renown? I don't have very much renown at the moment because I spent them on the Phoenix statue where I was born to boost my bonus percentage which is now at 98%
I prioritized jars because it's good money! That's why I have ten of them. I make nearly 20k per sale, I don't fill my shipping bin fully, nor do I wait until my jars are full to sell. I tend to collect the jams/pickles that are in there once per real life day, sometimes twice, but I usually wait and let them do their thing.
But what if I need 500 stones later?
Hoard light bulbs, they cost more and take up less space. ;)

I love foraging. I'm really surprised that my mining is way higher given how many of the forageables I end up with on any given run!
Mining and foraging for me go hand in hand. My level is equally high for both.
I only save in case others need I happen to share a lot too.

You go to town hall and buy more crafting licenses! If you are near gold cap at all, this will help, they get increasingly expensive.

I prioritized jars because it's good money! That's why I have ten of them. I make nearly 20k per sale, I don't fill my shipping bin fully, nor do I wait until my jars are full to sell. I tend to collect the jams/pickles that are in there once per real life day, sometimes twice, but I usually wait and let them do their thing.
