I’m a 90% controller player in PoE 1, hoping they have figured out inventory management so I can go 100% for 2. Or at the very least I hope it’s hot swappable without going out to the main menu. 😂
They said they're going to get hotswap in because of how much it was mentioned during the last event.
It was asked about before then, but the interviewers nor Jonathan understood what was meant by "seamless".
Currently there are ~20 buttons to map on Mouse&Keyboard. That should be possible to play without buying a new mouse, but especially the flask remapping on the controller just removes some of the additional button presses. I'd suggest the Gulikit Kingkong 3 max as it is cheaper than the xbox pro controller, while having similar feature range and hall effect joysticks
So far I've used a regular mouse with two thumb buttons (one of which is usually reserved for push-to-talk, although I haven't played PoE with voice chat in quite a while, not sure if ever), but if I was getting a mouse for PoE2 I'd seriously consider getting an MMO mouse with 12 thumb keys in order to have greater freedom of movement with WASD.
As someone that plays PoE on console, i'd definitely recommend a controller with back buttons, so either the xbox elite or dual sense edge. For most games controller backbuttons are irrelevant, but with the ability to rebind basically everything in PoE2, the extra buttons will add huge quality of life.
Gamesir G7 SE is a wired only, xbox layout controller with two back buttons at a very affordable price. Sticks have hall effect technology so they won't develop drift as fast. One of my favorite controllers
There's a severe lack of [mice with integrated thumbsticks](https://imgur.com/a/gsaL3mH), probably because there aren't many games that can make use of this feature, but I'm not sure how good a mouse like that would be for PoE 2 to begin with, because I think that controlling both your movement and the direction of your character with the same hand could potentially be confusing for the brain, but I have no way to be sure.
There are [thumbstick attachments for keyboards](https://imgur.com/a/DeAgpOh) that could allow players to control the character movement with their left thumb, leaving all four fingers free to press the keyboard buttons, which seems to be the best solution if someone does not want to keep constantly swapping between different input methods, but if swapping isn't a problem then there's also the more pricier gaming keypad models that also come with a thumbstick.
Xbox controller, all the time!

I use m+k for inventory management in diablo 4, and is swappable in the fly!
Yeah any modern game is, I’m just glad we have controller support at all in PoE 1 tbh
I haven't tried poe1 with a controller, tho. Hope poe2 controller support is just as good or better as d4

Is the software/driver solid?
Yes

Controller for comfort is The Switch Pro Controller for me. Most and Keyboard, I really like my Deathadder and Razer Ornate.

Logitech G13. This was my MMO go to back in the day. Still have one.
I would recommend a MMO mouse or even a Moba mouse. I have always used Razer Naga, but I'm sure the are other brands aswell.
Almost definitely they will work equally well on both controllers, the answer will be the controller you prefer which for me is hands down XBox.
Thanks yall, lots of good tips here

Take a look at the Logitech G13. If they still sell them.
