This is a commission for my battle oracle by Monkey King (https://twitter.com/kingwukong).
He's a human ganzi, born to his house in a stormy night and touched by chaos. When his divine powers awakened in his youth, he was deemed unstable and ousted from his house. From then on he traveled the land and he followed the call of the Swordlady in Restov to claim the Stolen Lands. His curse tends to drive him into a rage when fighting, even though he is actually a pretty artistic and chill dude with a faible for infrastructure.
Build wise, he is a battle oracle with Archer dedication and I tend to focus more on the cast-y side. He is pretty much the face of the group, since all other people are charisma potatoes. I try to theme most of his feats towards valkyrie / einherjar and aim to pick up Eldritch Archer and chain lightning when the time comes. He is pretty much my favorite character I have played, torn between art, war and being a noble. Tho I honestly hope the oracle gets a bit of love in the remaster, at least better refocus rules. :)
Can't complain, really. We are currently level 5. My main routine is to use Weapon Surge + Bespell Weapon to buff my attacks - can lead to pretty obscene damage if you roll lucky. I also grabbed the Jolt Coil for Electric Arc + Lightning Damage shots. Tho in a pinch, when I cannot attack for whatever reason, I am not as punished as I would be in melee, usually, and can focus on healing / buffing / debuffing. Next level I'll get some boom spells with Fireball and Sure Strike, looking forward to that. :)
I also tried out a Cavalier build inbetween, but after being one-hit KOd a lot, I decided to go with Archer again. :)
Weirdly enough, the party I GM Kingmaker for also has a nobleman from House Orlovsky who has a rocky relationship with the House and is also an archer (dex-based fighter in our case).
Oracles have always been my favorite from 1E and while I haven't got to play much 2E, the implementation tickled my brain in a good way. Hope you're having fun with this chad lad!

I've never really looked at battle oracles before because my smooth baby brain finds champions and warpriests easier to grok. What's it like?
Haha, I pretty much think of him as a buff Caspian most of the time. Sometimes with short hair, sometimes with long hair like here. So, yeah, always a hottie. I actually pondered playing a warpriest, but we needed charisma in the group, so I landed on the oracle, and I am also primarily filling the role of support caster. Offensively I use my strikes + Weapon Surge and Bespell Weapon usually, sometimes buffs/debuffs like Enfeeble or Bless. Often I throw Heals around, since mobs in Kingmaker can hurt a *lot*. My curse keeps me standing because my saves are pretty shitty, ngl.
I tried to retrain to Cavalier for a bit, but I went down in one round on 4 different occassions and so it was not that great, even tho the concept was neat and the damage was better. Overall, I like the fiddlyness and options of the oracle, and I think Battle is one of the better mysteries / curses. I lean more into the casting side and being an archer allows you to not strike for a round without getting hammered instantly, or to just play a turret with 2 action casts + strike.

So the battle oracle is frail, but a good buff/damage pivot? Sounds like the kind of silly gishing I'd enjoy. Thanks for the breakdown!
Thanks! And yeah, your curse gives you fast healing to let you get up easily, but if you don't want to dump charisma you are pretty squishy with not so great defenses, especially for the frontline.

How has being an archer oracle been combat-wise? I always thought that the Battle Mystery’s boons would be a good fit for an archery build.

Nah, I chose Orlovsky because they are the least war-like and Levan because I wanted a cool sounding russian name. :)
