With this much notice, you shouldn’t have to pay $300 for any of the main cheaper hotel chains. Ibis, Travelodge and Premier Inn all absolutely fine in central London, nice big simple rooms and always spotless in my experience. My personal favourite is Ibis Shepherds Bush, have stayed there plenty of times.
The underground system in London is massive and normally very efficient, so no matter where you stay, as long as it’s fairly central you’re never that far from anywhere else
Crikey well if you want any advice on where to go in London (I'm an English southerner who spends a fair amount of time in the capitol) then please don't hesitate to drop me a PM. Regarding hotels, your budget is more than enough. You could get a *very* nice room for that price.

Yeah $300 a night you should be fine in most places. I hope you both enjoy London and have a great time!
Just sent you a message
Would recommend staying in a hotel near the jubilee line
