I have raised kittens. If you don't confine them when you are fixing their food, they swarm up your legs like tiny, screaming furry commandos.
And even if it's only been 2 hours since the last feeding, they act like it's the first meal they have seen in a week.
Same with chickens. I've built sooo many chicken farms where there'll be like 30 in a 2x2 hole (droppers and chests underneath to collect the eggs/meat). It got so bad one time that it would lag the game for my boyfriend or brother (or both if we were all playing together) whenever I was *near* my chicken farm.
Not gonna lie. It still seems kind of a shitty that you're keeping that closed as they clamber over each other just to get a video.
Edit: Idk about yall but when I go to feed my cats I don't stick a camera in their faces and hold the food out in front of them for them to react.

They were only in there for a little while. These are some wild kittens who haven't learned their table manners yet
Reminder to all that kittens and cats in general should not be given milk. It will cause them stomach distress since their stomachs can't break it down.

Theres clearly plenty of space in there, they’re CHOOSING to clamber over each other. You can’t snap your fingers and make them all sit patiently. And they need to be in some kind of chamber or they’d be doing the same thing up the person‘s jeans as they’re making the food.
I’ve raised 21 stray cats, and trust me, just opening a can of food gets them mad, they won’t even wait for you to put it in a plate and will actually smack you
I too have had more cats than I can count... My 2 cats now are very nice and polite. I got them each as kittens. Last fall I found and cared for a cat who would jump onto/into the food bowl(s) and knock all of the food onto the floor for my dogs to eat (one has hypothyroid & kidney disease and the other resource guards). Nearly. Every. Single. Day. I had this cat for several weeks. I was at my wits end by the time his owners finally contacted me.
It is not going to kill these kittens to learn to be patient.

I don't know what people are talking about "not being able to pour a bowl without them climbing on it," why would you not prepare things on a counter then set them down. It's a single bowl that the person is holding one handed.
Edit: to explain more, I mean, it's clearly purebred kittens, so this is a breeder, and admittedly I don't have the best opinion of breeders to begin with -- but I've raised dozens of litters of strays and it would never occur to me to get them this psyched out and distressed during feeding time. Yes kittens get a bit feral around food, but they are old enough that they should be getting normalized out of that behavior, not encouraged.
The only thing I can think is if they are trying to force a ween from mom for some health reasons

One time, when my mom was preparing formula, I saw a kitten climb her leg, back, shoulder, and started to try climbing her head. They're adhorrible.
