Simon has the right balance of stubborn and stupid, I’ve seen people say Hal Jordan but he’s too smart, while he’s a really high level contender, Hal will understand the scale of threat better than Simon, so I think he will understand better just how stacked the deck would be against him which would demoralise him more than Simon, who simply isn’t smart enough to understand screaming at the problem won’t work, which is why it does.

Natsuki Subaru goes from regular human to outerversal
I want to add onto this with the What If part of Rezero. In the Greed story, he was willing to die over 100 MILLION times to achieve his goals. That is the equivalent of 10 Holocausts worth of people dying. 1/3 of Americans. More deaths than both world wars combined. To further emphasize this, let’s say he spent a measly hour in every round, which he definitely spend more in a lot of them, that is 4,166,667 days or 11447 years. Earliest estimates of civilization go back 4000-3000 Bce. Subaru lived for nearly twice the number of years humanity has had civilization. He is a man of focus, commitment, and sheer fucking will.
does anyone react to subaru acting completely different right before one of his rbd checkpoints?
cause it seems in the greed route, with all that time dying, thats enough for like a bajillion character arcs
Quite often I find myself thinking abt the fan art of joker terrorizing NY and finding out how shitty Peter's life is. Caising him to rethink the whole one bad day thing
This is badass but really not impressive. I feel like there’s multiple characters in like every shonen ever that do similar but their willpower is so strong they don’t have any doubt or even inner monologue like this
There are three heroes in the Marvel Universe you do not want to see opposing you because they will never stop, never give in, never give up.
Captain America
Cyclops
Spider-Man
Well… Hulk isn’t willpower-based, it’s rage-based though.
But totally spot on in terms of never giving up.
Because technically Deadpool and Wolverine have high regen rate/immortality, but doesn’t mean you can’t make them mentally give up.
Maybe you could add Batman, but not will-power based, more like will-to-resent-power based. If the circumstances are right, which they most often are, you will never outlast Batman.
Honestly, it was just a shit character that was created for the sole purpose of saying, "My character beats yours." Similar to Suggsverse. People tend to hate those types of characters. Add that their stories are pretty mediocre, and it just created the perfect storm.
Bro has had his liver destroyed (Choso fight) and still kept going, putting up a good fight too, watched both friends and mentors die horrifically, watched Megumi's soul sink deeper and deeper into despair, and from the very start, was told that his body was just a vessel meant to be destroyed after everything was said and done.
And what does he do?
HE FIGHTS. HE CONTINUES TO FIGHT. HE IS THE DEFINITION OF **UNBREAKABLE WILL.**

Literally saying no to death through willpower then rampaging without stop for eons means this fucker has absurd amounts of willpower
"Hal Jordan" No. Green Lanterns literally already scale based on their willpower, that's how being a Green Lantern works. Hal's power remains exactly the same.
Not true. Hal Jordan had to overpower the very embodiment of willpower (which was a shark for some reason) that powers the green lantern corp, amongst others. Basically, Hal had more willpower than the literal god of willpower.
The ring holds him back. If you're green in a Justice league fight? Prepare to get beaten by almost nothing. Like nothing as in a mugger with a stolen wallet.
So what if his powers remain the same? Any character who was stronger than him but with weaker willpower automatically scales lower than him if we scale by willpower. And I don't believe that there are much characters who have willpower stronger than his.
This. Hal’s Will power is so strong he can force his ring to break its own rules. Back in the 80’s he could control other Green Lanterns rings while they were on their hands. He has killed Guardians multiple times. Maybe his power level doesn’t go up, but nobody in fiction has more willpower than Hal Jordan.
Yuji Itadori would instantly become outerversal

Characters in Tensura (the literal OP power among the OP skills in Tensura is Willpower).
Subaru (He got strong willpower)
Guts (Pretty sure, guts has very strong will power than your average shounen protagonists)
Superheroes and Shounen protagonists.
Forgot to add: Mumen Rider
Any Chinese novel cultivator mc: "normally, anyone else would've been killed countless times over, but li mingyu was able to preserve his life through a will that exceeded the heavens!" Small example, willpower is heavily focused on for any and all of them, if they were weakwilled at the start it's beaten out of them
Saitama literally became the strongest based only on will power...
Perhaps frisk? With how they tank the whole power of >!Asriel!< And goes "but it refused"
Gael from ds3 , literally a slave knight that managed to outlive every god and living being in the universe just because his will power was so great he refused to lose his mind and go hollow from the undead curse. His task of reclaiming the dark soul probably took millions of years.

he solos, this guy can willpower so hard he breaks reality
you could take his powers away, break his kneecaps, gouge out his heart, impale his lungs, light him on fire and break his arms and he'd still get up from sheer determination
I didn’t expect to see a The Boxer character here, and certainly didn’t expect him out of all people. Injae also deserves a mention here. The Manhwa highlights the efforts he makes throughout the story with things like the Tree scene and the training arc.
~~which now I remember was also with this guy.~~
Idk
Man through sheer will power kept beating the shit out of the strongest character in the verse after he already died for a long ass time all while constantly being hit by the strongest attack in the verse and simultaneously hitting back with that same attack
As someone pointed out someone beat the god of willpower. How tf can you have more willpower than that God. Damn dc comics lol. If not for that I would 100% say Adam.
Kyle Rayner. His will power is so powerful that every single colored ring actually looked for him at the same time and even became a White Lantern which basically made him an OP Space Jesus. He is able to bring the dead back, heal from fatal injuries, and even use every lantern power.
In terms of just Willpower Hal has the most, he told Kyle this; When it comes to Willpower he's 2nd to none among the GLs.
Hal literally Outwilled the Embodiment of Willpower. He's the only being to almost just forced himself into breaking into the Speedforce; Like no wacky speed bullshit, he just willed himself to go faster and faster, and he was starting to brush into the speedforce almost breakingt through.
New 52 and Rebirth was filled to the brim with Hal Jordan glazing lol
I just thought of another person besides Deku, Shotabaru(Subaru when he is turned into a kid), bro is the epitome of willpower, he died 100s, possibly 1000s of times and was still pretty fine(this was in a loop that lasted 10 seconds each, with him dying in extremely painful ways each time) and when he was in that arena, he was the calling the shots
Shoutout to Hi3's Seele, who broke open a dimensional barrier with her bare hands, and seemingly raw willpower. She might not end up the strongest, but she def won't be fodder.
Most old gens are eating good tonight but..

Soul eater is definitely one of the strongest
Hal Jordan from DC would be extremely overpowered, having enough willpower to do anything. But if he faced something beyond even him, he would understand that and be demoralized enough to he weakened.
Simon from Gurren Laggan would have just as much willpower, but lack the understanding of "that's to much for me" so he'd go further and beyond and just power through anything or rather, *drill* through anything.
Now for Spider-Man, it's debatable if he has less willpower than the two, what's not debatable is that he wouldn't always be on the same level of willpower ad them, and he has the same weakness as hal: he would understand when something is too much for him.
But, even then, at those moment's where he's facing something beyond whatever has appeared beforehand... He'd know he's outmatched, and he'd ignore it to just do everything in his power to help people and in turn, outshine everything and everyone with his will power skyrocketing as if he was a Super Saiyan.
So, Simon takes the crown as the most powerful, but Spidey would borrow it from time to time.
Oh and Frisk is exempt from the ranking. Kid is filling themselves with determination left and right no one can keep track.
Sisyphus. Particularly the Ultrakill version, but any version where we must imagine he still wants to be a little shit works.
A lot of the characters mentioned here have the willpower shown to keep fighting through hell on human timescales, but most of them still have moments where it wears on them, and they just want to rest. Guts, Superman, Spiderman, Hal Jordan, all that. Even the green lanterns, despite using it as a power source, are very much not just made of the stuff. Not comparatively.
They do have times when they would really just want to stop fighting and just. Rest. Being beaten and forced to do thousands of years of punishment and forced labor, even if it wouldn’t break some of them, would take a toll on them.
Sisyphus outmanoeuvred the gods, got locked in centuries of physical labor and soul breaking punishment, and the moment they eyes of the gods leave him he immediately starts organising a revolt knowing full well he’s going to get his shit pushed in.
And for Ultrakill, after getting killed and his entire army slaughtered, upon being free’d his first word are something to the effect of “Hey who’s ready for round 2?”
He simply Does Not Care what you do to him. He is the symbol of Hubris and Mankind’s Unbreakable Spirit for a reason.
Asura might be the only exception to this, but unlike Sisyphus, Asura also has the crutch of being basically a demigod to give him far less resistance than the average guy. Sisyphus was just a really cool dude.
Characters like Frisk I’m not sure I would count for this, simply because willpower is an aspect of one’s personality. Frisk is, by canon, a stand in for the player and a complete blank slate. Within Undertale, they have no personality past the one we give them. They are a vessel, not a person.
Fanon versions of them might qualify, but within canon I wouldn’t count them.
And Chara is only barely more developed than that.

Simon solos fiction
This is basically the whole foundation of Gurren Laggan's power system. I feel like this is the correct answer.

Yeah it's also stated that he's will power is he's strength
"Hal Jordan" No. Green Lanterns literally already scale based on their willpower, that's how being a Green Lantern works. Hal's power remains exactly the same.
Not true. Hal Jordan had to overpower the very embodiment of willpower (which was a shark for some reason) that powers the green lantern corp, amongst others. Basically, Hal had more willpower than the literal god of willpower.
Mhm, impressive feat there. How did he do it? Was it by chance through his willpower?
The ring holds him back. If you're green in a Justice league fight? Prepare to get beaten by almost nothing. Like nothing as in a mugger with a stolen wallet.
Because of how I read that, I imagined him getting beaten by a mugger *with* the wallet.
If the wallet is yellow and depending on what year it is? Yeah that can happen
I get the yellow part but can you explain the year part please?
within the last 25 years. The green lantern's weakness to yellow has been removed. Mostly. Sometimes its there. Most of the time it is not.

Gon from HxH is now constantly in his final form.
Most battle shonen mc like luffy, gon and also Simon from Gurren laggaan will become too strong
Netero from HxH https://preview.redd.it/dpz6uh5vvryc1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=64ebd653b1636bad2718926f54b5fc518861754b

A lot of one piece characters are suddenly universal
Definitely not the highest, but what about midoriya, I gotta give bro credit where its due
another the boxer W https://preview.redd.it/bkkkzc0geqyc1.jpeg?width=620&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=faf0fa312f5a6d068732eb770c707f073a9b14f0
special mention: bellamy the hyena https://preview.redd.it/7mnk8b75fqyc1.png?width=375&format=png&auto=webp&s=118a85311d99ada7c62f49f059132c494096744f
W
He was goated. Didnt expect him to get mentioned
W TAKE, love to see it
I didn’t expect to see a The Boxer character here, and certainly didn’t expect him out of all people. Injae also deserves a mention here. The Manhwa highlights the efforts he makes throughout the story with things like the Tree scene and the training arc. ~~which now I remember was also with this guy.~~
Tensura characters are suddenly even more powerful because of how the power system works
Adam scales pretty high but probably not the highest
Idk Man through sheer will power kept beating the shit out of the strongest character in the verse after he already died for a long ass time all while constantly being hit by the strongest attack in the verse and simultaneously hitting back with that same attack
As someone pointed out someone beat the god of willpower. How tf can you have more willpower than that God. Damn dc comics lol. If not for that I would 100% say Adam.
Not midgiri
Luffy is now multiverse level if not higher
Itadori has an absurdly high will power
Frisk
I’d have to say Eren Yeager but this is hard. Most Anime MC got the indomitable human spirit within them.
Traveller from Genshin literally uses the willpower of the world to fight the gods and win so.
I become baby tier
Meaning you can grow
I miscalculated, I become stone tier
I have no tier I’m so weak lol
Guts Berserk
Slave Knight Gael
Violet evergarden, she was willing to go through any extent to save Gilbert, having both arms blown off even
Doomslayer
Sisyphus can finally push the rock
Persona characters would actually scale to Outerversal.
Lucifer Morningstar from DC is described as a being of infinite will, to the point he can warp reality through that alone.
I got to day 4 lf NNN sooooooo...
You can make it, I assure you.
Natsuki subaru ,kaneki ken,guts
Shoutout to Hi3's Seele, who broke open a dimensional barrier with her bare hands, and seemingly raw willpower. She might not end up the strongest, but she def won't be fodder.
Sinbad from magi is one hell of a candidate, the guy formed his soul back after it was dispersed back into the cycle of life or whatever
Adam’s the strongest
Guts solos any other verse now
Most old gens are eating good tonight but.. https://preview.redd.it/450n4sk2btyc1.jpeg?width=300&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=79e36c84648fc0b074ab53c575974845129fd51d Soul eater is definitely one of the strongest

Usochad?!!!
And for Ultrakill, after getting killed and his entire army slaughtered, upon being free’d his first word are something to the effect of “Hey who’s ready for round 2?” He simply Does Not Care what you do to him.
