Literally just had a tryout in Philly. All actual athletes with little to no experience. I think it's clear that WWE doesn't care all that much about free agents when they have the capability to to produce their own future.
If they can get a early-mid 20s ex football/wrestling/etc athlete and teach him to wrestle/speak then makes sense rather than getting a indy fanboy who can do 1000 moves but is 5'8 180 and can't speak to the public
A person who's gone through a D1 football program has proved he is highly athletic and can be coached and thousands of d1 athletes graduate every year and do not go pro and they need jobs. If they have Charisma and the it factor all you need to do is train them.
Look at Tiffany Stratton. 2 years in wrestling but years before that training as an athlete. The skills do carry over and can be taught.
That's true, the ex athlete is used to coaching and has proven he can listen/take advice, if they got a natural charisma/public speaking ability that can add to their looks/athleticism that's a bonus

As for Fulham, there's a similar story when they're in the EPL, the TV money generated by the big teams bankrolls the small teams. Fulham are a small team by EPL standards and for a team like this one bad season leads to relegation which can cause a cascade which is hard to recover from. They're pretty safe this season mind.
TK's role with them is odd anyway, he's still titled Director of Football (roughly equivalent of GM in American sport, not a job for a part timer or someone with no experience in the sport) but I'm not sure how involved he is at this point. He used to be heavily involved which was stupid.Ā

I often wonder if Finn lays awake at night, haunted by what they've done to his Bullet Club brainchild. There's zero chance Shadid lets this happen. It's hard to believe considering both teams are wildly inconsistent, but the Jags and Fulham actually makes them money. AEW does not.
The NFL makes money, not the Jags. Just the TV deal covers more than the salary cap per team.Many of these teams don't even have to pay to maintain the stadiums or rent as they foot the bill on taxpayers. Everything else is just gravy. Yet still, the NFLPA voted the Jags as the worst franchises for players in the league. If the Jaguars had to actually run the team competently and effectively to survive on their own, they'd have moved out of Jacksonville ages ago.
As for Fulham, there's a similar story when they're in the EPL, the TV money generated by the big teams bankrolls the small teams. Fulham are a small team by EPL standards and for a team like this one bad season leads to relegation which can cause a cascade which is hard to recover from. They're pretty safe this season mind. TK's role with them is odd anyway, he's still titled Director of Football (roughly equivalent of GM in American sport, not a job for a part timer or someone with no experience in the sport) but I'm not sure how involved he is at this point. He used to be heavily involved which was stupid.Ā

From everything I've read Nemeth is sensible enough to realise he'd get even more lost in the mud in AEW than he ever was in WWE, which is why he's working smaller companies where he'll be a main attraction for a bit. If he has a good run in as TNA champion and some bangers in Japan he can then name his price to Khan I imagine. Some AEW guys should have figured that out.
