And for those wondering if this is one of those "we don't have enough business" situations, it is not. The cashier told me that the old owner died and the new owner was raising rent (again) and after trying to negotiate Frosty Queen realized it was a lost cause and decided to just close down
That’s what I heard too, altho the folks on my Next Door app are all blaming it on “no one wants to work.” 🙄 Just another reason I don’t go on that app often.
Not just them, but I would bet at least in my area, they’re the majority. I know many of the neighbors near me and most younger aren’t on there. I’m on there rarely, but I don’t engage at all. It was interesting on first launch but devolved quickly into toxic garbage.
GH is changing. Can’t say “gentrification” because it’s already a decent economy here.
With the Rams moving into the valley permanently and the area value is increasing I expect to see changes like this occurring more and more.
Much like main Los Angeles the valley is about to transform as areas like Reseda and Lake Balboa will also change due to how close it will be to the “new valley”.
You can see the buildings on Van Nuys blvd slowly getting demolished and rebuilt.
Last few remaining parts of Los Angeles so close to main LA that still has “potential” areas.

I feel bad for all the ppl finding out afterwards 😭
You're craving a little something-something and find out you can't have it... Sorry you got to find out this way!
The same reason a lot of LA businesses are going out of business. The old owner died and the new owner is raising rent/causing problems and doesn't care for a legacy business. It's a shame.
So many great memories here. Talking my son after little league games, riding our bikes there during the pandemic and eating burgers and dipped cones. So sad.
Found out today. Oh man, I will miss those nice people who worked there always so cheery. This is Newsome CA. He is such a plague. Perchance the guy needed to raise more money monthly to pay for Newsome freebies to everybody but those who paid into the system.
It has gone downhill over the years but didn’t expect it to close. The drive thru is possibly the slowest I’ve ever been in anywhere in my entire life.

Wow another business ran out by greed. So sad to see.

Bored dipshit boomers fucking love that garbage app.
You think it’s just the boomers?😂
Not just them, of course, but it's very much their style.

Bunch of unoccupied buildings on Chatsworth. Such a waste. Hope something happens here.
Wait, the owners of Frosty Queen don't own the property?
that sucks :/ it’s going to get bulldozed for sure
Maybe that means they'll start up again st another location?
Dude, I hope someone reopens it and they dont tear it down. Granada hills wont be the same without it.
End of the month as in next week?
Yes! It's so sudden!!
WHAT. Literally, where else am I going to get a dipped cone and a pulled pork sandwhich at the same time. Horrified.
bro, their dipped cone is so fucking good wtf
WTF!!!! What kind of blasphemy is this???? Please tell me this isn’t true……….
Very random/sudden. I asked when I went for Chillers today and the cashier confirmed 😢
When is it supposed to close????
End of the month
Truly saddening, I’ll have to patronize them before their closure
NOOO MY OREO CHILLER!!!!
My favorite!! 😭
This is so sad! 😭
Not even a week left to enjoy? Really hurts my soul.
Is this the one in Granada Hills on Chatsworth?
Yes it is
Oh, how heartbreaking. My Mom went there when she was in high school. Surprisingly, I don’t think I’ve ever been.
Are they planning on moving somewhere else? Frosty Queen's been around over fifty years.
That's a good question! They didn't mention it on their official announcement but it'd be nice if they did
Best breakfast burritos in the valley IMO, RIP

It's the opposite of gentrification. It's a shit hole now
Damn I came here pretty often as a kid.
I was just here didn’t feel like, that sucks
Devastating
When?
End of the month... So literally Friday, May 31
Going to take my kids so that experience this we live 5 min away.
That’s so disappointing
I just drove by there, how did you confirm this?

I’ve never been here but I’ll check it out this weekend. What’s good to order? Cones?
Cones for sure! All their different malts, Chillers and Shakes are great
Noooooo. It’s so good! :(
This breaks my heart. If anyone goes today or tomorrow, can you find out why they didn’t try a GoFund Me?? Do they want to?
New owner I guess wants to much money. Not worth it. Was thinking about starting one for the workers as They will be out of a job.
we went today and it was super busy. first time too. i tried a couple of the things mentioned but not everything :(
Used to go here as a kid and as a HS student broke af. Sad to see this.
Just went over there yesterday and discovered that it had closed. Damn I’m going to miss that Granada burger and the chocolate ice cream in a cup.
I feel bad for all the ppl finding out afterwards 😭 You're craving a little something-something and find out you can't have it... Sorry you got to find out this way!
I’m high as fuck and I just saw this place closed down. Noooooooooooooooo I wanted a chiller lol
This is so upsetting. I grew up eating there
Noooooooooooooo!
Was any reason given? Business seems good
The same reason a lot of LA businesses are going out of business. The old owner died and the new owner is raising rent/causing problems and doesn't care for a legacy business. It's a shame.
I heard the owner of Porto’s died today. I don’t want this to happen, but I’m not hopeful
Lol. Porto's is to big to fail at this point due to something like that.
If the owner died, how is a new owner raising rent?
The son.
Boooo.
Damn that makes me sad
No wayyyyyyy. Been going there forever. Definitely getting some chili cheese fries and a dipped cone before they close 🙏🏽
Oh noo, I go there rarely. What items should I try before they're gone 😢
Sausage breakfast burrito
NOOOOOOOO
Which frosty frezze?
So many great memories here. Talking my son after little league games, riding our bikes there during the pandemic and eating burgers and dipped cones. So sad.
Noooooooo
NOOOOOOO!!!!!!! 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
If they had more business they could afford the rent ...so, it kinda is about not having enough
wooooow. their chili cheese fries man. used to get their peanut butter shakes back in 2012. gonna go get some chili fries today x(((.
Found out today. Oh man, I will miss those nice people who worked there always so cheery. This is Newsome CA. He is such a plague. Perchance the guy needed to raise more money monthly to pay for Newsome freebies to everybody but those who paid into the system.
So sad to see. I stopped by last week not knowing and was extremely disappointed to see that it had already shut down.
It has gone downhill over the years but didn’t expect it to close. The drive thru is possibly the slowest I’ve ever been in anywhere in my entire life.
I’m near
