If it's the same as Mido's scenario, then you should've been told that the false cats face one direction and the real cats a different direction. Also the monster ones have a monster roar on the overworld as a tell. You should be saving frequently to address this possibility. Personally I cycle through 5 saves and after basically every fight save my game, just in case I want to go back a few decisions (almost never do, but better safe than sorry).

Rewow

How do you keep track of 5 different saves? Do you just save in a new slot each time you save?

jakeisbakin

Each character I start with doing a new save 5 times, then I just push up-up to get to the bottom save every time I save in the future. So they're all like 3-30 minutes apart usually. This way I'm not tempted to like redo an entire world but sometimes I might go back a few saves to affect the ultimate outcome at the end of the world.

Rewow

Oh, that's interesting. So when you do go back, you know exactly which save you need to revisit?

Empty_Glimmer

Idk when I’ve been to delta base they had a pretty clear directive (cats facing one way bad, facing the other way good.)

Aviaxl

The game does tell you. If the cat is looking to the right it’s real if it’s to the left it’s fake. You have to pay attention to the dialogue in this series it’s not just flavor text like other modern games. The game even has you answer a prompt to see if you’re sure that you chose the right cat.

Multiple save files.

pktron

Don't stress it. You'll replay Delta Base enough times, and you'll cycle through different missions for different factions as you play.

OmnicromXR

In Delta Base? They do tell you explicitly how to tell which cats are real and which are fakes.

Dragon drops Dragon scale sword though. It's a rare drop, but the rate is noticably higher than previous SaGa games so worth a shot (I've been getting the drops within 10 trys..
