Where is this twt discourse at? All I get is racist people shitting on AoS but maybe it’s just For You tab

Bonniemo

It's under one of cerb's recent posts where he posted a screenshot of someone else's tweet with the old slaanesh neopronoun extra https://twitter.com/CerberusXt/status/1656169627313897472

bigslapp

I was expecting something more spicy but as it’s stands it just “there were mentions of different pronounce in the 80s (as if we don’t have mentions of different gender norms from all cultures of the world pre Christianity since forever)” Against “So you are saying that you identify with Slaneesh, the evil god??? I’m very smart and have reading comprehension”

ParufkaWarrior12

"Also I think the imperium is doing a good thing getting rid of all those filthy xenos!", You forgot about the blind love for the space fascists

HannahDawg

I swear, I absolutely hate the fact that warhammer bigots immediately think "slaanesh" whenever LGBT people get brought up, and I know for a fact that think that way, had an old manager who literally said that Slaanesh was what all "the transgenders" are like. He also went out of his way to be friendly to anyone wearing a MAGA hat or Trump shirt that came in the store. The scarier thing was, this wasn't some middle aged guy, he was younger than me, and I was 26 at the time.

Comfortable-Soup8150

Never underestimate the amount of young dipshit conservatives there are. I was part of a gamer group in high school, we were all racist, sexist, and homophobic because it was "funny". Thankfully I got out thanks to my partner, but a lot of them spun down the alt right rabbithole.

DRAGONDIANAMAID

It’s cause young men are brainwashed by right wing douchebags, and are told that all their problems arent their fault, which feels good, then they start on the whole, it’s other people, then it’s feminists, And they just keep easing you in until you realize, “oh shit I’m a neo-nazi” and either you embrace that or you get the fuck out I’m lucky to have been the latter

Unhappy_Technician68

I don't think it even has to go that far to be a problem. Lots of people in white suburbs just never get exposed to people with other points of views. Even though they may support gay marriage and find racism genuinely disgusting they will still support casual and systematic racism just to be controversial or more in the center politically. Often they just have never been exposed to people who their casual bigotry would affect or hurt so they just don't develop that level of empathy.

HannahDawg

Indeed, and he wasn't even trying to be "funny", he was entirely serious too. In fact, he kinda reminded me of that one guy where he's standing in front of a native American protesting on some college campus wearing a red cap and smirking like an evil villain

jagdpanzer45

If anything, coming out would fall under the purview of Tzeentch: the changer of ways. And what else is “the gay agenda” than a plot? If you’re going to miscategorize me under an evil fictional god, at least get it right when you do.

Bonniemo

>I swear, I absolutely hate the fact that warhammer bigots immediately think "slaanesh" whenever LGBT people get brought up It's a perfect dog whistle for them to use, especially if they want to be horrid bigots to LGBTQ folk within the hobby. So many people \*love\* defending them and trying to downplay their shit as a joke no matter how obvious it is.

ShardPerson

Is it that surprising when 99% of the queer aesthetics in warhammer are found in Slaanesh stuff? The bdsm leather elves that live in not-gomorrah because sodom was too on the nose, the cults that turn "normal people" into "hermaphrodites" who get off on pain, the metrosexual primarch and his Artsy legion... Hell, look at the subject of this post? Where do you think the blame lays for peoplr associating the *androgynous god of pleasure with neopronouns whose factions are all variations of "what if the transes really are degenerates out to rape and convert people, wouldnt that be fucked up"* with queerness?

Melech93

Damn, was this the gw in VA? There was a manager a few years ago who fit it to a T

HannahDawg

Oh no, it wasn't a GW store, it was when I worked at Autozone, the dude was just a warhammer fan, and thankfully he was only there to cover a shift. If he was regular, I have a feeling he'd find some reason to discriminate against me, since it was before I started to question my gender identity

Bonniemo

It kinda spilled over to some other stuff with some folks and a lot of the people aruing with the "Oh you want to be represented by SLAANESH!??!?" are all in certain circles of bigots and just straight up nazis and ethnats on that platform.

ShardPerson

fucking hilarious that they gave the gender-ambiguous rape god neopronouns but the exact same people who point it out (folks like Cerberus) will argue that there's no queerphobia in the setting and that Slaanesh is completely fine and not an extremely anti-queer trope

crazy_zealots

Am I crazy if I love Slaanesh as a trans person? I just vibe super hard both with the queerness of everything as well as the indulgence and debauchery in general. They definitely feel like "my people" as far as the Warhammer universes go if that makes sense.

ShardPerson

It aint unheard of but honestly i dont vibe w it because GW makes such a consistent effort to relate Slaanesh to rape that i just find it impossible to vibe w it as i do with other Queer Coded bad guys If warhammer (and lets be real, 40k specifically) was a good setting, Slaanesh would be the faction of weird af sex and gender fuckery and they'd be the best faction in the setting, but because GW is how it is, we get "these people are degenerate rapists" instead

crazy_zealots

I mean, they're still daemons at the end of the day, it makes sense that they're completely awful in their behavior. I guess for me I enjoy evil more than good in fantasy in general for whatever reason. Like the dark elves/drukhari are also fucking horrid but I like them a lot too. Personally, my biggest issue with Slaanesh is that the wider warhammer community tends to shit on them a lot, and I belive that a large part of it is because of the queerness/feminity/androgyny associated with them.

ShardPerson

It doesnt help that most media with Slaanesh aligned favtions portrays androginy and gender non-confirmity as evil traits, the setting *wants you to hate androginy* Demons, especially queer coded ones, in other settings are often either more cartoony or the evil they do is more generic world domination/destruction, slavery at the worst, the choice by GW to repeatedly link the queer coded demons to **sexual violence** specifically is just too queerphobic for me to want to reclaim it as it is If only they would yeet the fucking 40k setting already and make a reboot without the "what if the christian church was right about queerness and sex" elements

crazy_zealots

I get where you're coming from, but I guess it just doesn't bother me; I don't really feel demonized or hated because of how Slaanesh is depicted. Then again, I personally identify as a hedonist and I don't take warhammer too seriously in general. The sexual faction partaking in sexual violence isn't surprising at all considering that violence in general is kind of the main point of warhammer. I also engage with warhammer fantasy more than 40k or aos so maybe we're also seeing different things.

Fassbinder75

Slaanesh is such a messy bit of IP. If there wasn't an unholy symmetry of the four ruinous powers I suspect GW would have phased Slaanesh out with the Old Slann and Malal. Conceived in an era in which LGBT people were still very much regarded as deviants and undesirable, Slaanesh even with contemporary coats of gold paint paint is still a painful (lol) anachronism.

CmdrLastAssassin

GW also named Lion El'Johnson after a famous poet who was gay, and The Rock, the Dark Angels' home base is also the name of one of his poems. They were a pretty homofriendly company from early on, so I don't think they intended Slaanesh to reflect negatively on lbgtq+ people. Though I do agree that it's messy.

Fassbinder75

No I agree, I think GW was just reflecting the broader societal attitudes of mid-late 80's UK. I didn't know about Lionel Johnson oddly enough - I'm a big fan of Aubrey Beardsley (my IRL middle name is inspired by him) and Harry Clarke, the two giants of illustration. Like Wilde and Johnson, dandy, single men who died too young, half-lived lives.

l_dunno

The right pronouns to use for Slaanesh is obviously all of them!!!

eeeeeeeeeyee

Slaanesh’s true name is every single pronoun in existence at once

l_dunno

It's all just jammed into the same slots so you just get a weird amalgamation of letters piled atop eachother!

IrresponsibleAuthor

EXACTLY. who the hell would look at a deity of excess and figure only ONE set of pronouns would be considered enough?

Idunnoguy1312

> opens twitter Well there's your first problem

Bonniemo

hehe yeah...

kekus_dominatus

I don't even know at this point which part of Warhammer is worse: GW or community -\_\_-

AshiSunblade

Maybe they deserve each other? (I tentatively vote the community, since there's an uncomfortable amount of outright nazis in it, whereas GW seems to be 'merely' capitalist with all that entails... but then the community has a lot of good in it too, so, a draw?)

frozenrussian

Yeah wait until we find out Matt Ward's memorabilia collection.......

Luce_owo13

fire emblem pfp 😳

V_the_snail

I despise twitter with all my heart even before Elon took over bc that place is just designed to only manufacture shit-flinging competitions of the worst possible takes bc only those get the most attention. Also, don’t we all agree that slaanesh is canonically any/all?

Jade8703

Ok I keep getting recommended this subreddit. I have never searched for any WH40K stuff, never even looked at it before but I keep getting spammed with it. However…. coming from a trans person… some based takes here. Good job people 😊👍

MothMothMoth21

Hey maybe stick around a while, whilst I understand this is not a fantastic intro to the hobby, it is pretty great and has alot to love I particularly rate the stormcast eternals, though if you find yourself more under the non-binary umbrella Mechanicus is quite popular!

Jade8703

Haha, I wish I could get into it but I do not posses the time nor money for it 😭

arii42

Warhammertwt is genuinely one of the most miserable spaces i've been in

Psychic_Hobo

Is anything good in Twitter?

Bonniemo

It's such a rollercoaster sometimes, like one of the bigger accounts that isn't a horrible bigot was having a huge tantrum the other day about people not liking GW for constant marine releases and wanting xenos to get more support and then a few hours later the TL is full of people going at it with bigots for the the gorillianth time. The worst thing is that like outside of this sub and certain discord servers it also ends up being like, the least worse option for a hobby space.

azulgato

Love applying human gender standards to unknowable interdimensional entities

WehingSounds

I’m not sure if soul-devouring gods particularly care about pronouns

purelikevenus

Slaanesh’s pronouns are whatever you want them to be, handsome.

Grimpresent

This might sound a bit elitist but I’ve been enjoying Bluesky so much more than twitter. Hopefully everyone who wants a code gets one but so far it’s blessedly free of ‘those people’ (fash)

Bonniemo

I'm hoping bluesky launch goes well, I'm planning on dropping twitter once I can but currently outside of this sub, a few discords and twitter I have no other hobby spaces and it's like the only place I'm able to keep up with news for hobbies and just IRL politics. The worst I've seen from bluesky has been so pale in comparison to what twitter is like now it's actually incredibly appealing.

Grimpresent

It’s amazing how twitter without all Elon’s bullshit is such a compelling pitch for people

Throwawanon33225

Slaanesh rules over excess- as such, they should have an excess of pronouns. Simple.

-unbless-

Truly the worshippers of tzeentch are rising up.
