The older I get, the more I love and appreciate this match. The birth of attitude!

fictionfan007

One of the greatest matches of all time right here.

StickmanCinema

Without question

celineafortiva

WWE needs to start awarding Hall of Fame matches just like the UFC does for its greatest fights. This should be the first. Storytelling, atmosphere, commentary, big fight feel entrances, acting, technicality, this match had everything. I was a kid when I first watched this and as a grown man it still feels epic seeing it today.

Skitz-Scarekrow

All time WWE (and owned properties) or just wrestlemania? Cause I don't know if there's a Hall of Fame quality match until Wrestlemania 3

[deleted]

But how am I supposed to experience the energy of the entrances without Vince being like "ALRIIIGHT HA WAH GO!" It's almost a cheat code for adding gravitas in big moments. Just shut up.

xKronkx

Hearing Fink introduce Bret is stored in the same place of my brain where Bob Shepard introduces Derek Jeter.

celineafortiva

It's stored in the same place of my brain where JR says "HE BEAT ANDRE THE GIANT WITH THAT MOVE"

RepresentativeFly565

The greatest wwe match of all time

KrisKallsIt

Yeeees!! I love these videos!

I_Love_Bears0810

Love these non commentary clips

RealLanceStorm

One thing about Mount Rushmore level WM matches is that you remember the entrances. As a 7 year old watching at time, this felt as big as the match and holds up. Same with HBK/Taker, Austin/Rock (posted here the other day too), Rock/Hogan and a few others. You need that big fight feel for the entrances and the killer match to reach that status.

WWFUniverse

I remember I kept rewatching the Bret/Austin promo as a kid on VHS player. It was so cool. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPiMlT1OX1s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPiMlT1OX1s)

All of this is so godly

jcwkings

Two legends in their prime.

Ravens_Rules

Such a story driven match with great technical wrestling between two goats. Probably the greatest match in WWE's history.

BeachBrew

How do you shut off the commentary lol?

GeraldForbis

Stone Cold's Bottom Line DVD has two language settings- English and German. One day i was curious and decided to give the German language a go and while doing it, i discovered that while there is commentary, they just don't talk during the wrestlers' entrances. Then i recorded the german audio and replaced the english one.

BeachBrew

Thats awesome man, thanks for the heads up

SlottedPig1

This rules.

StickmanCinema

I love these. Please keep doing them. Dope stuff!

katarr

The amount that happens in the wrestling world between this moment and Wrestlemania 14 the next year is insane.

Aggressive-Mix4971

Bret walking into a big fight with ice in his veins is basically the coolest wrestler in history. This match, combined with the Survivor Series '96 match between the two, is a great example to me of a feud that doesn't really require much in the way of lengthy promos/angles, and where most of the story can be told in the ring. Austin obviously had promos calling Hart out, but there were terse, short, to the point; Bret began basically brushing Austin off as a loudmouth who wanted clout for beating someone on Bret's level, outwrestled Austin to beat him at Survivor Series, but Austin's bitterness and desperation to be noticed and be on top after feeling overlooked for so much of his career drove him to keep prodding Bret into a rematch. Basically, outside of the "put a 'S' in front of 'Hitman' and you get my opinion of Bret Hart!" line, you could go into these matches (plus their encounter at the Rumble and then at Final Four) not really knowing what happened on Raw between the two and still see a character-driven story unfold while also admiring some incredible ringwork by two of the best of that era.

Black_XistenZ

The "Austin 4:20" sign, lmao!

solsunlite

You are doing god’s work

Ben_Pharten

"Well King! The roof is exploding and he put his glasses on a young fan. Guess he doesn't need no glasses no more King!"

E864

I don’t think Ken Shamrock was the most dangerous person in the world in 1997.

MWFD

I go back and forth pretty much daily between this and Savage/Warrior WrestleMania VII as my favorite match of all-times. I’m 41 years old and been a fan since I was an obsessed 7 year-old. I’ve seen a shit ton of wrestling.

Fellers

The camera work of both entrances is amazing. I definitely wish they didn't change angles as Bret walks through the curtains.

NoJackfruit801

This is in my humble opinion peak wrestling

Existing-Kale-7071

Bret Harts entrance is still my all time favourite. I know people have their own favourites and rightly so but Brets entrance was so so cool. The way the camera would zoom straight into him. The glasses. The arena lights shining off his pink attire. The no nonsense and determined walk to the ring and that awesome theme. Just the epitome of coolness.

WWFUniverse

"And a mixed reaction"

Hot_Mathematician357

Why isn’t Ken Shamrock in the WWE Hall of Fame?

WeaselWeaz

He was rumored for this year.
