Wrestlers peak in their 30s so they are usually way older than you realize, especially compared to other athletes.
Becky Lynch is older than Leo Messi, for instance. Dirty Dom is older than most of the Real Madrid squad which faced city last week.
LeBron has been world famous since he was 18 when he went into the NBA when Balor didn't really make it to the WWE until 2014. So Balor has been in the top company of his business for about a decade less.
He also was only in Bullet Club for like a year before he went to WWE too, so it's not like he was an established name outside the company. Bullet Club got big after he left.
Whats awesome is that pre NJPW he was working Ireland and UK shows but wasn't like "a name" or anything. But he was getting about and what not, as a side gig outside his normal 9-5.
He then flew over the LA to take part in a open try out with NJPW, and said to them part way through "this has been great lads, but I have to go home now - I have a job and stuff". Well they saw him working those few days and said "Dude......stay, we'll hire you" and Prince Devitt was born.
He of course would then work his way up over they years and become THE man. Move to NXT and the rest is history.
I want the Demon back and to actually be relevant and scary. I don't understand why they never made Finn the face that struggles with his literal inner (heel)demon. I want the demon to accomplish the things Finn can't in ways he wouldn't, and for there to be consequences.
While I like it as simple warpaint, I *am* surprised they never used for in a Jekyll & Hide storyline like Funhouse Bray/The Fiend. He doesn’t need a whole Mr. Rogers personality, just be an honorable & respectable babyface. The Demon gives him the will to have shit like a powerhouse move set and dominant victories. I’d even split his finishes.
Finn’s primary finisher can be the Bloody Sunday/1916, & the Coup de Grace can be his protected super-finisher as The Demon. However, it takes a mental toll on him with the gratuitous violence escalating each time he brings it out til his aggressive, heel alter ego gains more control like the Carnage symbiote. It doesn’t even have to be on some supernatural shit; it can be all psychological.
Probably biggest strength of his booking is how so many characters feel essential, even with the long title reigns and such, still so many characters who make you go "oh shit they're here"
I'm 22 now and I'm just recalling fond memories of me doing his lights off/on pose to his music when I was 12-13. Fuck me. I still don't see that NXT crop of wrestlers as the veterans it just doesn't register for me.
I remember meeting him at a random Irish wrestling show just before he joined NXT. Pretty sure he was back in Ireland to visit before heading off.
Doesn’t feel that long ago. Time flies and I don’t like it.
He's a Triple H guy, he's getting older so a WWE style lets him take it easier, he's got a family, he's constantly used, and he gets to be in a group with some of his best friends. Of course he was gonna stay as long as he got a good offer.
Hell, he probably has a PC or producing job waiting for him when he retires.
Edge is one of my favorites ever and I completely agree. I know people say "Finn got busted open" but they couldn't have called an audible, have edge go down in a way that wouldn't be strenuous on finn's health then give him the pin? Imagine the credibility Finn would have if he beat an 11 time world champion and hall of famer at wrestlemania with practically a hole in his head!
I said that till I was blue in the face, and kept getting the response of "The Babyface has to win" and I was just like....Did Elimination Chamber NOT happen? Edge and Beth got their get back.
Yeah I’m thinking it was a short term booking decision to pop the crowd with an Edge win but long term it’s stupid. I’m giving Edge the benefit of the doubt here but it’s always possible that Edge doesn’t work for me brothered Finn
I genuinely feel like that's STILL in the cards. Despite the recent losses, history has shown time and time again that losses don't ALWAYS matter, and with Priest as WHC, all they need to due is work a tension angle and he's back in the World Championship picture. They've planted the seeds once before.
I know it's hard to imagine, but I trust the vision. All people need to do watch his 2nd run in NXT to know how HHH lets Finn do his thing when he gets the ball, now's just not that time.
We will see, if WWE has shown anything, even under Vince, is that his age isn't any indication that it's too late, Bobby Lashley won his 1st WWE Championship at around 43 years old. Finn will be fine.
When Judgement Day implodes and if they have Finn turn on Priest he’ll be white hot again.
He’s essentially on the bench as a main eventer they can always reignite him when needed.
Yeah. He's at that place where he's perpetually over and it'll take just a little work to heat him up for a title run, otherwise known as the AJ Styles spot.
That's a weird case where I really wanted balor to win at the time and was upset when he lost, but with hindsight, Roman became a bigger star, the rock came back with his final boss character, Cody got elevated to levels wwe hasn't seen since Cena, etc all through Roman's title reign, so it's actually good that Roman retained in that match lol. Still leaves a sour taste in my mouth though, I'm a mark for the demon
Balor in his 2nd NXT run was my favorite wrestler in the world. The storylines weren't very dramatic, but the simplicity of the character really worked for me and the wrestling was absolutely top notch. He can definitely be a workhorse world champion.
The title needed Seth to give it some gravity, which eventually came into comparing Seth vs Roman's reigns, Seth being the workhorse. Hot potating the title between Seth n Finn also looked bad for a new title n new champion. Seth was the right choice.
Finn should have won the Hiac last year though.
I've been saying for all of 2023 that Seth was overpushed and booked way too strong, but man...it's hard to criticize the guy after he goes out and does things like his performance on mania weekend, very few could do that like he did.
It's in the cards. We just gotta trust HHH, he didn't fail him when he went back down to NXT, and this isn't the Vince Era where long-term story-telling gets dropped on a dime.
I would Love a story with a slow burn of Finn starting to resent Priest for winning the title after Finn failed. Drew and punk who keeps screwing each other over while Priest retains and Balor in the background at First being happy for his teammate, but still can’t Shake of the feeling of “it should have been me”.
I think there’s a pretty reasonable story already brewing of Finn resenting Priest for costing him the world title and going on to become the world champion. Priest is seeming to become rather individualistic in his approach to business since becoming the world champion. When Finn suggested to him that they should still be focused on regaining the tag titles, Priest shut that down quickly.
Dude almost killed me. But it makes sense. Finn and Seth are the prototypical Triple H guys, so he’s probably pretty relaxed that he’ll be taken care of booking wise.
There’s a reason they were the go-to guys to help establish the World Heavyweight Championship and I’m sure he’ll have a reign with it, even if it is a transitional one. Hell, if Punk isn’t ready by then, a Priest x Balor x McIntyre match at Clash at the Castle sounds pretty dope.
His new bud JD is in WWE, his old buds BC original is in WWE, his student Becky is also there. Also he’s on with the 2nd best stable now in WWE. Would be surprise if he leave
Balor has one of the coolest look and theme in wrestling, mf needs to go on a run as world champion again.
Maybe leader of a heel faction again. Judgement Day is great but it doesn't even scratch the surface of his talent and potential.
Or a solo babyface that actually wins big match again.
I wonder if he'll get that singles push soon? It looks like Priest will be splitting from the group at some point, probably as a face turn. Finn was always one of HHHs main sons from NXT. The others being Zayn, Gargano and Cole. Perhaps more than any of them, he booked him like the guy twice.
He is getting up there in age, but he hasn't shown a single sign of slowing down.
I just wouldn't be surprised if sometime after the draft, we get Finn back in the singles division in a major way. Even if it's just for the IC or US title which are now prestigious once again.
I seriously bought he was going. And, pre-Judgment Day, I would have *loved* to see a Prince Devitt run in AEW. Now, though, the Judgement Day are my favorite goth family, and I don't want Crazy Goth Uncle Finn going anywhere.
My favorite dude doing it
I also think big things are to come from him. A whole generation of nxt guys are coming up that he has history and chemistry with, as well as his stable being the top faction currently
Really happy he's staying and I really want to see one more strong Finn push under Triple H. We never really got it as Finn has been involved with Judgment Day since, but feels like that group is going to go it's separate ways soon enough, and if we can get even half of how Triple H used him in either run at NXT, it would be great. I don't think Finn will get the title again, feels like that moment has passed unless it's a Samoa Joe-type of situation and Finn is just gonna be a transitional champion, but feel like he can still do some great stuff as a singles star.
It's insane that he's been there for a decade and they've squandered his demon gimmick to this day.
He should be the new Undertaker and he should be headlining shows.
I'm hoping that Judgement Day eventually have every title. It would be the most amazing entrance ever for all of them to have titles.
Finn has had a seller career in WWE. The man went back to NXT and put on some classics with Kyle O'Reilly. Then came back to the main Roster and tore it up with the Judgement day. I just hope they put him back on top one day here soon
Good for Finn man finish your career in wwe I would’ve loved to see you in aew but wwe has always treated Finn well happy that he’s happy
What strange comment to downvote lmao
People will downvote you merely for saying "I would've loved to see you in AEW". Or the opposite: "good for Finn man finish your career in WWE." Many think you gotta pick a side and not say anything nice about the other (unless it's a backhanded compliment).
King Balor!
Finn wins King of the Ring?
Not a poncey Charles III crown, but a metal iron circlet; same as the one King Corbin had would be fine.
Lean into the Ring Wraith energy of Judgement Day without going full spooky daemon.
When I grew up wat himg starting in 05 or 06 a lot of people stuck around for a couple years a left. Now wrestlers are constantly sticking around 10 years or longer. Good for them
What the hell happened to this talented man? I remember watching him kill it at summerslam 2016 and become the inaugural universal champion and then I proceeded to
tune out for years. He never got another shot at that level?
Glad to hear it.
I like the way they are using him. He isn't getting matches each and every week, he isn't being required to do all sorts of stupid, dangerous and risky stuff.

I had no idea he was 42, I know he's been wrestling for awhile but his appearance/physique hasn't shown it.
In Becky’s book, he was her trainer, she was like 15 or 16 I don’t remember. He’s been wrestling forever
they also dated
Lol it feels like Finn dated half of women's roster at this point
Can you blame half the women's roster at this point though?
Fuck boy Finn
Finn Boner
The man dated Cathy Kelly, I'll never meet her so it doesn't matter but I still feel like I could never be a man enough to fill that void.
Do you want to go for self-esteem session together? I might need them too
Like who? Becky and Cathy that's all afaik.
Hopefully not when she was 15
Haha no...she was 13
I doubt they dated more then for a short period of time. Their relationship comes off more as an older brother and sister.
Never would've guessed Finn Balor is older than Lebron lol
LeBalor
Our glorious King
King James and Prince Devitt
Wrestlers peak in their 30s so they are usually way older than you realize, especially compared to other athletes. Becky Lynch is older than Leo Messi, for instance. Dirty Dom is older than most of the Real Madrid squad which faced city last week.

Finn has that Asuka aging ability!!
Black don't crack but Irish all craic.
Not enough people will get this
I feel like Asuka doesn’t get enough love.
42 is the number of abs he has
You see his face ?
honestly the abs distract from it a lot, so no
As someone six years older this comment hurt a little
Ya. Dunno if it's the beard but he doesn't have the face of someone in their 40s for sure
He looks how you remember Bam Margera looking in his heyday. It's resting mid-20s face.
Well, it doesn't look like he gets much sun, so that always helps
& The balding head (even though it’s been like that for a long time now)
He looks great for 40 something ive seen people considerably younger who look like they have more miles on them.
True, he does a fantastic job and keeps himself in peak form
It's actually "improved" now with his transplant, the weird emo combover he had from his New Japan days made it so obvious lmao
I remember seeing him at early PWG shows in 05-06 and he was considered a veteran there. He’s been wrestling for a loooooong time.
I'm 41, I hope my physique looks like that next year. Something to look forward to I guess.
He is the same age as Hulk Hogan was at Bash at the Beach 1996.
Judgement day wouldn't be the same without him. Happy to see him stay.
Without those abs JD loses 90% of their female fanbase
I dunno. Women love Rhea & Dom. And simply just Rhea.
Don’t forget about Bisexual Undertaker.
So no love for the guy with the big head then
If I were a woman, I wouldn't let anyone with that big of a head come near me. Imagine having to push that out
Im just imagining a baby with JD’s full grown adult head being birthed and I’m laughing my ass off 🤣
It’s probably best for women to stay away from him for other reasons too
I can think of one reason why.
A babyface Finn world title run is my number one wish from this era in WWE
Or heel. Just any world title run that lasts, like, at least 2 months. My standards aren't high.
Yeah, same. I just want him to be able to win it & successfully defend it at a PLE at least once.
I want the Demon back and to actually be relevant and scary. I don't understand why they never made Finn the face that struggles with his literal inner (heel)demon. I want the demon to accomplish the things Finn can't in ways he wouldn't, and for there to be consequences.

Mine too. It would instantly make my wrestling year.

I thought Finn was gonna die too
I thought Finn was finnish ![gif](giphy|1MYVccbszAG4g) But I guess he’s just getting started
Goodbye sweet prince
Literally did the same action as I read the end
got me good

Love Shane here. Trips gives him the “too sweet” and then there’s Shane with the respectful nod of approval.
'Happy birthday Shane' vibes
Greatest Wrestler In The World Shane O'Mac recognizes a great worker when he sees them
Crazy to think he's been there for 10 years now, i remember when he was just debuting in NXT
I remember the whole hype around him coming in. He was always treated like a star under HHH/NXT.
HHH knows how to make a person feel important. Just look at how much better Gable looks since HHH took over.
Probably biggest strength of his booking is how so many characters feel essential, even with the long title reigns and such, still so many characters who make you go "oh shit they're here"
Yup. Gable always had it in him too.
Oh, dude. My buddy and I flipped when we watched the demon debut. I'm still salty about Edge going over in the cell last Mania.
The demon debut was 10 years ago?! Jesus Christ. Wrestling timelines are wild
Haha yeah that's a madness
I'm 22 now and I'm just recalling fond memories of me doing his lights off/on pose to his music when I was 12-13. Fuck me. I still don't see that NXT crop of wrestlers as the veterans it just doesn't register for me.

I’m still pissed about him losing every title match during the Seth feud. He needs another world championship reign before he calls it quits.
That was fine I guess but I don’t know why Edge had to go over on him
Edge is one of my favorites ever and I completely agree.
Damn I forgot about how badly he got busted open in that match
I said that till I was blue in the face, and kept getting the response of "The Babyface has to win" and I was just like....Did Elimination Chamber NOT happen? Edge and Beth got their get back.
heels are allowed to win feuds too
Roman and GUNTHER were covering that quota for the longest time.
Yeah I’m thinking it was a short term booking decision to pop the crowd with an Edge win but long term it’s stupid. I’m giving Edge the benefit of the doubt here but it’s always possible that Edge doesn’t work for me brothered Finn
I'm not saying Edge pulled anything, but it is weird that the only feud he lost was against Roman.
"you think that works for me brother"
A large part of it will be because it was Edge vs The Demon and it was sponsored by The Pope's Exorcist.
Yup
I genuinely feel like that's STILL in the cards. Despite the recent losses, history has shown time and time again that losses don't ALWAYS matter, and with Priest as WHC, all they need to due is work a tension angle and he's back in the World Championship picture. He’s for sure getting another title match but I feel like his window for another run might’ve ended with Seth. We’ll see though
We will see, if WWE has shown anything, even under Vince, is that his age isn't any indication that it's too late, Bobby Lashley won his 1st WWE Championship at around 43 years old. Finn will be fine.

Yeah. He's at that place where he's perpetually over and it'll take just a little work to heat him up for a title run, otherwise known as the AJ Styles spot.
Exactly exactly! It’s not a bad thing to have a stacked mid card.
Tbf he was going to be the one who beat Roman but the ring broke at Extreme Rules in 2021
That's a weird case where I really wanted balor to win at the time and was upset when he lost, but with hindsight, Roman became a bigger star, the rock came back with his final boss character, Cody got elevated to levels wwe hasn't seen since Cena, etc all through Roman's title reign, so it's actually good that Roman retained in that match lol. Still leaves a sour taste in my mouth though, I'm a mark for the demon
Agreed. Looking back I’m just more upset that there was only one “extreme” match that PPV
that was god acknowledging the tribal chief
The main reason why I’m ready for the Judgment Day breakup, so we can get legitimate contender PRINXE Balór again
I actually wouldn't mind a proper BC WWE run. They already have all the og members in Tama and Karl under contract.
They're missing Fale, who I'd only want if Finn could ride on his shoulders again. lol
Balor in his 2nd NXT run was my favorite wrestler in the world. The storylines weren't very dramatic, but the simplicity of the character really worked for me and the wrestling was absolutely top notch. He can definitely be a workhorse world champion.
Balor vs Priest Loading…
The title needed Seth to give it some gravity, which eventually came into comparing Seth vs Roman's reigns, Seth being the workhorse. Hot potating the title between Seth n Finn also looked bad for a new title n new champion. Seth was the right choice. Finn should have won the Hiac last year though.
Same here the story was for him to beat Seth and win the belt. But we have to give Seth everything all the time.
I've been saying for all of 2023 that Seth was overpushed and booked way too strong, but man...it's hard to criticize the guy after he goes out and does things like his performance on mania weekend, very few could do that like he did.
He didn’t necessarily need the belt to do it
You don't need that much of an argument. He gets paid well and is used well.
Wouldn't be shocked if he becomes the Shawn Michaels of NXT Europe whenever they get it off the ground
Three of the founding members of Bullet Club are now in WWE.
Just need takahashi
He’s close to Tama Tonga because of Bullet Club, right? So he’s even got more friends coming in, which must be nice!
Part of me wants him to back to being a face again just so I can hear his old theme song again. I was stoked they brought it back at WM39
Fucking hell my heart stopped https://preview.redd.it/ijksp9ai94wc1.jpeg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=499862f4ea5924218c43e01750001373e09974d2
Would love Finn with one more run as a Singles Champion
It's in the cards. We just gotta trust HHH, he didn't fail him when he went back down to NXT, and this isn't the Vince Era where long-term story-telling gets dropped on a dime.
I don't want JD to split so a storyline involving Priest and Finn amicably duking it out for the title could be good?
I would Love a story with a slow burn of Finn starting to resent Priest for winning the title after Finn failed. Drew and punk who keeps screwing each other over while Priest retains and Balor in the background at First being happy for his teammate, but still can’t Shake of the feeling of “it should have been me”.

I really want him to be the one to take that title from Priest but idk how McIntyre doesn’t walk out of Scotland with the belt
I love Finn man, he almost got me. My heart stopped for a bit 😭
I got emotional at work too bro 😭🫂 We Bullet Club for life gang 🤘🏾
His new bud JD is in WWE, his old buds BC original is in WWE, his student Becky is also there. Also he’s on with the 2nd best stable now in WWE. Would be surprise if he leave
No one offered him enough money
Really hope this means he re-signed. I love Finn. Wherever he is, I'll watch him there. But I love him in the WWE currently.
> Really hope this means he re-signed. …what else could it possibly mean?
Redditors aren't the brightest.
Balor should've opened up Raw saying that.
Balor has one of the coolest look and theme in wrestling, mf needs to go on a run as world champion again. Maybe leader of a heel faction again. Judgement Day is great but it doesn't even scratch the surface of his talent and potential. Or a solo babyface that actually wins big match again.

How has no one else picked up on this?!? Finn's going to be in the Impact Zone next week!
Finn has had a seller career in WWE. The man went back to NXT and put on some classics with Kyle O'Reilly. Then came back to the main Roster and tore it up with the Judgement day. I just hope they put him back on top one day here soon
Bisexual undertaker, get ready to learn the finger poke of doom (please, I need big Fergal w a world title again)
I'm sure the comments will be nice and civil here. *Scrolls down* Oh look, they're calling Finn a pedophile...
Where are those comments? I haven't seen those at all

Baeledbros it isn’t baelover, he isn’t finnished just yet. Keep hoping
Damn ten years already?

Should’ve been wearing some Salmon AJ1s
AH, so he just got some fuck money w/meat sauce
This reminds me of those times he was trolling about when he'd get to the main roster. "See y'alls on Mondays!"
He’s in the best spot he has been in years. No reason to. Yet somehow he still feels wasted.
Love how well the Irish troll. Between him and Becky, we’re all walking over a bridge.
Long live Prince Devitt
Conor MacGregor rip off speech right there
First off, it's insane he's been there 10 years and now I feel old. Second, he boomed me.
Man I just wanna see the paint back in some form or fashion. Demon or not, let him get real weird with it.
That's gold. Pure gold.
King Balor! Finn wins King of the Ring? Not a poncey Charles III crown, but a metal iron circlet; same as the one King Corbin had would be fine. Lean into the Ring Wraith energy of Judgement Day without going full spooky daemon.
This motherfucker man Nearly gave me a heart attack
*insert Wolf of Wallstreet gif.*
Good for Finn. He has nothing to prove and Im happy for his success. I hope to see him killing it in WWE for years to come. He’s earned it.
It's time: https://preview.redd.it/xgfdw3wj98wc1.png?width=819&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=26c29c70d7eddaf384e15b68781a0feb829e44a6
Is he still just happy to be there?
“Fire me!!!?!? I’m already fired!!!!”
Honestly can’t believe it’s been 10 years. He’s always been my favorite
Deserves another word title.
He ain’t going nowhere?? Then WHERE’S HE GOING?!
When I grew up wat himg starting in 05 or 06 a lot of people stuck around for a couple years a left. Now wrestlers are constantly sticking around 10 years or longer. Good for them
Shame
What the hell happened to this talented man? I remember watching him kill it at summerslam 2016 and become the inaugural universal champion and then I proceeded to tune out for years. He never got another shot at that level?
One of the best physiques and an excellent worker .. and he’s in his 40s!?! He’s a machine
Not impressed with your style of fighting…. Can’t win without cheating…
Glad to hear it. I like the way they are using him. He isn't getting matches each and every week, he isn't being required to do all sorts of stupid, dangerous and risky stuff.

BRING BACK THE BUCKET HAT FINN https://preview.redd.it/ke8iwylm9vwc1.jpeg?width=194&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=04ddfc7ab1b4449b83078866af4e0e372e68e74d
Can we trade him for Will Hobbs though?
