I used the JSAUX HD Clarity with the yellow frame to put it on. Worked like a charm for me.

poliszSausage

Yeah, I got myself matte one, and it was quite easy to install. Only got some small speck of dust under it, but at least it adds a bit of character 😄 It's also worth watching tutorials on youtube, as it makes it much easier to put on.

random_reddit_user31

I managed to get mine on perfectly. But I have the character spot on my phone to make up for it lol.

KardTrick

If you feel like futzing around, you can use some clear tape to get that spot out. Use a piece of tape to lift the protector, then use another piece to reach in and grab the speck. I had to install screen protectors all the time when I sold cellphones, so I got to learn all the tricks.

Z370H370

This is the best, just for the frame alone. Remember to run your finger right down the middle to and then to both sides. I have one and got one for my son, so I didn't it without bubbles twice. You can't even see it unless you look for it.

niord

I can strongly recommend Glass EZ Fit https://www.amazon.com/Spigen-Tempered-Protector-Designed-Hardness/dp/B0BGQSZJTG

Endda

this is the one I used for my OLED

DandelionDinosaur

Thanks! I'll give this one a try!

l_______I

I second this. As someone who never put any screen protector on any device, this was a breeze.

LennethW

I could only add to that - work in the most dust free environment you have in your house, and immediately before applying the protector wipe it with a microfiber cloth sparingly spritzed with some glass cleaner. Right after that and immediately before applying the protector kept ready on the side, check for dust specks on screen again (a strong flashlight shone parallel to the screen will help you greatly to spot them). If you spot any, inside the protector box there should be a dust picking adhesive sheet. If there's not, keep handy some blue painters tape, cut a strip, and use the sticky side to pick them up.

Ok-Permit2777

Same!

PuzzleheadedAd87

Leave the screen protector off and enjoy the oled etched glass

Kinyin

I only have experience with dBrand's flavor of this for the Steam Deck and, even with screwing up the first one (missed some dust), both went on without any issue and the coated spread out evenly with very minor touch ups with the squeegee. Assuming you've cleaned it well (if using isopropyl, don't let it air dry. clean it and buff it dry), I'd try making using the steam desk a bit, getting it warmed up and then maybe laying something atop the area and keeping it flat for a bit to try and adhere. I know it sounds silly, but have you held the deck up and looked at it from the sides, making sure the screen isn't, for some reason, no longer flat? No bulging going on?

audionerd1

The best solution is to just put it in the case whenever you're not playing it. Even if you get a screen protector you like and you drop it you can break thumbsticks or triggers, and your screen quality is going to be worse. The 1tb has a nice etched anti-glare display and you're just ruining the anti-glare by putting a cheap screen protector over it.

Honeybea0

No help but I have a question. Where'd you get your thumb grips? Switch ones don't work on oled, did you look up ps5/Xbox controllers ones? I'm looking for cute ones.

_hannahbanana

Not OP but I have the same ones and I got them on Amazon. The brand for those specific ones are from GeekShare. Playvital, also on Amazon has some cute steam deck specific grips too

GreenLiving2864

The ps5 ones do work with it, been using one and it fits tightly, perfect size

DandelionDinosaur

These are made specifically for the Steam Deck. :) [Here is the link!](https://www.amazon.com/GeekShare-Silicone-Compatible-Steam-Deck/dp/B0C2VCBWJT)

random_reddit_user31

Sometimes you just need to leave it, and the bubbles will disappear. However, yours might not. It might not be flat, and you might have it stuck on the edges slightly.

aphilipnamedfry

Tempered glass, always. As for avoiding particles and potential bubbles, depends on your area. I live in a dry climate and have to apply screen protectors with so e humidity from like a warm shower so that particles don't stick to the screen and are easier to remove before application.

Painter2002

A trick that I’ve started doing is installing the screen protectors in a bathroom… 1) Turn off the AC/Heater and any fans near the room. 2). Run your shower with hot water for a few minutes, just enough to get some steam. 3). Let the steam settle for a 5 or so minutes after turning the shower off, this helps any floating dust to settle. 4) I then grab the steam deck (I keep it outside the room while the shower is running so not to get moisture damage), bring it in the bathroom and install the screen protector. Running the shower helps with those annoying dust floaties. Oh and I personally have used Dbrand, a little pricey but it works really well.

DandelionDinosaur

This might help. I do live in a very dry climate. Thanks!

rfp0231

Hi - unrelated but where did you get your case?? I love it!

DandelionDinosaur

Thank you! It's from Amazon. [Here is the link!](https://www.amazon.com/UYIYE-Kickstand-Case-Steam-Deck/dp/B0C9JH6JQQ)

rfp0231

Thank you so much!! Appreciate the link ☺️

augusthine

I also wanted to asked this, it's such a pretty color!

rfp0231

It is! I haven’t seen a cute case like this yet so it definitely caught my eye

TheDevilsCunt

Does it even really need a screen protector?

LegendaryJohnny

What are you trying to protect Steam Deck from with them protectors?

Frosty-Inflation-756

They should be okay to push out with a card? Work from the centre outwards!?

DandelionDinosaur

I've been trying with the little squeegee that was included, but the air bubble just pops back as soon as I lift the squeegee up.

Frosty-Inflation-756

Strange. Is your screen in anyway misshapen? Flat protector on a flat screen and you’d usually see no issues

dve-

Try transparent tape for precision cleaning. If you see bubbles caused by small particles, pull the protector back up and then try to pick up the dirty particle by touching the area with the transparent tape on either your screen or the protector, then retry.

madding1602

Did you put them up-to-down or side-to-side? I've put a bunch of screen protectors and my trick is always follow the longest axis, and the shortest axis sticks evenly

MAXHEADR0OM

The jsaux ones are pretty bad. I tried two of them and they both were warped so I had the same problem you did. Jsaux refunded me for them, which was nice. I found [this](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BFB1P1JM?starsLeft=1&ref_=cm_sw_r_cso_cp_apin_dp_Y2NM9ARC7TM2MCGEW3TY) brand on Amazon and it applied flawlessly on the first try. I also bought a jsaux cable that was really poor quality. I gave up on that brand after that.

DandelionDinosaur

Thank you! I'll give this brand a try.

DeadHeadDaddio

Want to chime in that i have the 3pk of that brand and did encounter 1 warped piece. 2nd one went on without issue however.

potatobunny16

God I feel you, I wasted so much money on screen protectors but they would never apply properly. Every single screen protector i put on would have a huge bubble in the corner and it'd be in a different corner on each application.

pedralm

Bubbles will mostly come from dust and particles left under the cover. So it's probably an assembly issue. Screen is large so more room for fail. Sadly once it bubbles you are kinda screwed. You have like one shot.

mvpilot172

I put mine on in the bathroom after I’ve run a hot shower a few minutes. Gets ride if the dust in the room. Then clean the screen off and make sure no dust is in the screen. Then remove the plastic off the glass protector quickly and lay it on the deck. If you have to pick up a corner to get rid of dust don’t bend the screen protector or it won’t lay correctly again like in your picture.

Mentals__

I've bought and installed two Mag Glass tempered glass screen protectors and both went on stupid easy and bubbles came out immediately.

DandelionDinosaur

Thank you, I will try this brand.

Theleiba

Have you tried just waiting a day or two? Sometimes when you get a huge bubble like that, it just slowly disappears with time and then it's perfectly fine. In fact my phones current screen protectors instructions told me that in case of a single large bubble, wait until tomorrow. I did and it fixed itself. Worth a try if you keep having this problem.

sometipsygnostalgic

Yeah i had the same problem. Theyre not cheap either. I managed to get mine on in the end. I was sent a frame with some of them. The frame was useless as it was too big. Don't get the jsaux matte protector. Horrible thing. If you have a 1tb just leave it as is honestly.

Lucky_Dragonn

I put a JSAUX screen protector on my steam deck yesterday. The first one had a tiny bubble in the corner. I removed it and put on the second screen protector and it had a tiny bubble again, but this time in the middle of the screen. Edit: no the bubble doesn't go away. It's like stuck to the screen protector and as if it was there in the first place.

AdditionInteresting2

I like the way dbrand does it. Line it up without peeling any of the adhesive first. Then tape it up tightly on one side. Clean the surfaces. Remove the adhesive and just swing that bad boy over. Hasn't failed me yet. Moving fast helps reduce the chance of dust getting in.

TearyEyeBurningFace

And in the center of every bubble is a spec of dust. The job is 90% cleaning

TheCharge408

These things are impossible, when I tried the aligner was barely helping, and both times despite my best efforts they somehow magnetized hair on to them which was unacceptable as it was impossible to ignore. I don't think a screen protector is worth it unless you can apply it in a completely sterile environment and get really lucky with air bubbles.

-ViolentSneeze-

When you apply the screen protector, run your pointer finger down the middle top to bottom, then take the included squeegee and start pushing the bubbles to the outside.

sekazi

If it is truly just a bubble on the other attempts they would go away after a day or two.

Virrg0

amFilm is really solid. They have everything to make the install easy.

Manufacturer_Flimsy

You can lift it back up and apply pressure as you lay it down to get rid of bubbles. If it gets something under it you can use scotch tape to get it off. That's how I got mine on at least. Looks pretty clean too but I'm biased.

DoucheCanoeWeCanToo

I swear I’ve been trying to put a screen protector on my switch oled for 2 years, every time they go on sale I buy them, fail, and try again the next time they sale

TherealJerameat

Whe you moved the sceeen feom old shell to new did you remove all the glue from the underside of the screen. I feel like either the shell is messed up or theres a lump under the screen.

Bigfacts84

I used the jsaux hd screen protector, I’d did have a bunch of air bubbles, managed to squeegee almost all bubbles except for a small one.

juicyman69

I don't use screen protectors but I've read people recommend doing it in the bathroom after a steamy shower. No dust in the air.

aqwmasterofDOOM

I'm not trying to be mean, but have you never attached a acreen protector before? You use a card or other flat object to push from the middle out to let it all adhere, most screen protectors literally include instructions on how to do this and a tool specifically to do it, I've never once bought a screen protector that didn't tell me to do that

GreenLiving2864

Just take a hot shower and do that right after, with the humidity you won’t have nothing floating in the air and can get perfect screen protector all the time

GreenLiving2864

Also I always used jsaux and never had that problem, used the clear one and now the matte

Oftenwrongs

Don't ruin the screen by putting on worthless protectors.

Darkjuda

Sorry to break it to you, but screen protectors are pretty useless when it comes to protecting a Deck. They make sense for smarphones and stuff like that, but since your Deck is not gonna enter pockets full of loose change and keys, they are not gonna help much, unless you plan on cutting cheese or bread on it. What you really need to think about is avoiding the Deck to fall on the ground. I use a 10$ or so silicone/rubber case so it never slips and fall out of my hands or bed (even if I left it on the side of the bed and sleep next to it, which happens almost every night) or whatever. Actually, I don't remember a device of mine falling on the ground (except a hard drive) since they pretty much all have cases made of a more or less anti-slip material. For my phone it's some of those 5$ cheap fake leather that wraps around it, but it still works great. I understand people prefering solid cases as silicone/rubber are most of the time much more ugly and less protective in case (pun intended) of a fall but with those you have to be extremely careless for the device to fall in the first place, while with a plastic case it's almost as slippery as if they were none. **TL;DR** If you don't want to put on a silicone case on your Deck, that's fine. Just know that it significantly reduces the chances of a slip, fall and crash. And that goes for most electronic devices. On the other hand, screen protectors don't really protect anything, unless massaging your Deck with gravel is a hobby of yours.

mvpilot172

I disagree, I dropped my steam deck and it hit the corner metal foot of a table leg. Cracked the screen protector but saved the screen. If it wasn’t on I would have 100% damaged the decks screen.

Darkjuda

Not necessarily. The screen protector might help avoiding the screen to fall into pieces because it would "glue" the pieces in place if the screen is shattered, but not much more. If your screen protector cracked, it is simply because it is more fragile than the Deck's screen. Which would make sense considering that if your screen protector cracked, it's most likely because it's made of glass or one of those "sapphire glass" ones, instead of just a cheap plastic one. Glass or "Sapphire" are better than plastic to protect from scratches because they are both harder materials. But while harder, they are more fragile. Strength of materials 101. The Deck's screen is made of a more organic glass, like most phones, hence why it is more resistant to fall damage but less resistant to scratches as it is a softer material than just glass. Also, if the screen protector is glued on the screen it can't absorb the kinetic energy the Deck recieves upon impact instead of the screen by his own will. Simple physics. Unless the impact occured directly on the screen (like the corner of the table foot hit the middle of the screen) but then again, the screen protector wouldn't have changed much. In other words, you got lucky, but I don't think your screen protector has anything to do with your screen's "survival". Then again, a silicone/rubber case is much more effective at avoiding this kind of fall, even more if you have two left hands.

Mentals__

To be fair, it's kinda dumb to put a screen protector on to protect against falls. I think most people know you'd need a good sleeve or case for that (or maybe not drop the damn thing? Kidding). I use a screen protector to protect against scratches or scuffs that may happen. Last thing I want is something accidentally dragging across my screen and giving it a permanent scratch, so I use a tempered glass protector and it gives me much less anxiety about the OLED display getting fucked up.

Darkjuda

Then you are mostly dealing with your own anxiety. Technically the only moment your Deck is out of its case and unprotected in an unsafe environment is when you are using it. So unless you like to rub it against the sidewalk to clean it, the chances of a scratch are almost non-existent. A screen protector is nice if you have two left hands and don't really want to take care of your Deck, so you hope a slice of tempered glass will take care of that for you. That's a fair way to see things I guess...

acrossbones

You're speaking so narrowly and confidently wrong. Maybe your deck is only out when you're using it, but some of us do actually share and have families and pets and disabilities and live in different environments and far more variables than you.

Darkjuda

I live in a farm. I have three dogs, two cats, chickens, cocks, ducks, sheeps,...even bees. Hard tile floors, brick walls disintegrating, children running around, dust everywhere. On the contrary, my Deck is only out when I'm using it precisely **because** there are so many hazards and dangers around.

frank_malachi

I disagree I dropped something on my steam deck screen, thank God I had the screen protector or there would have been a scratch.

100ProofPixel

Agreed, it’s less about dropping the deck and more about dropping stuff on it…

BigRubbaDonga

Stupid take

FlangerOfTowels

You are just plain wrong.

pantherghast

The problem is you bought JSaux. You never buy JSaux.

nuetralzone

I'm not even bothering with a screen protector on my OLED etched. I tried a matte screen protector but it didn't look good. It's not like a phone I put in my pocket next to keys. When I'm not playing it, it goes in the case. I figure if I drop it I'm going to do more damage than just the screen and the protector won't do anything. Don't see the need for a screen protector on these.

ColdCruise

Don't put a screen protector on the 1TB model. It removes the anti-glare effect of your screen. Screen protectors are for scratches when you have a phone in your pocket with keys and stuff. They don't actually do anything to prevent a screen from breaking when you drop it. If you're going to be throwing your steam deck in a bag or something where it might get scratches, I recommend getting a case with a cover like the dbrand killswitch or jsaux modcase.

ProtoKun7

I must admit I don't feel the need to use a screen protector for mine, but I also admit I don't have kids. What situations are you worried will leave it open to damage? Do they ever use it, or do you think they'll knock it over while it's on the table, or damage it while you're playing? Don't forget your 1TB model came with a dual part case; if you don't leave it in the full case regularly, you could remove the inner lining and keep the Deck in that when you carry it around and that should shield it well if you're not having luck with screen protectors. Also, be aware that a protector can nullify the whole anti-glare look while it's on, but there's a chance that's only a secondary issue for you. There are some matte ones around though.

thejoshfoote

Just take a card and push the bubble out…

CorellianDawn

That moment when you're such a failure at something simple that you're sent sympathy flowers in the mail.

Ejay424

Can't go wrong with DBrand

definitlyitsbutter

Sorry to be that guy, but i think one screen protector should be enough, as they get thicker and thicker with each layer, touch could stop working....

skeletonchoji

Pretty sure they mean they've tried three times

definitlyitsbutter

Iknoooow.....

nothrills

I -always- use water when applying whatever screenprotector on whatever device. I clean the device with alcohol, then I use a tiny water bottle with a mist spray (like in travel kits, absolutely no regular sprayer with large drops). I spray the sticky side of the protector itself and the device. Ofcourse the device is turned off and the key is not to soak the device. Then just apply the protector, the water will give you room to move it around and perfectly align it. Then hold firm and squeeze the water out from the center. Pro Tip: Use plenty of paper towels and try to catch the water when it seeps out the edges. When done, you will probably see some light water streaks left under the protector. Don't worry, this will evaporate in a few days. This method removes all bubbles, dust particles, hair, etc. because you're removing it with the water. Ofcourse, always be safe with water and electronics. Don't be a moron and overdo it, but my experience from things like phones, a Nintendo Switch, tablets, All-in-ones... They can all handle a little bit of moisture around the screen.
