I don’t disagree with you from a realism perspective but from a gaming perspective it’s the challenge of ending up having to manage your base with reduced numbers then eventually one survivor
One person at a time doesn't make sense in my opinion, the game lore clearly indicates that the space travel is in mass scale, and what kind of ship can't fit 8 more ppl to it?
Instead, they could end the game with reconstructing crashed escape pods into space shuttles, these escaping pods can be single person use, so you send one or two off each time and keep looking for other usable pods
Because it doesn't make sense that 7 ships would pass over and only 3 can take passengers... no one's talking to other ships for some people that might die on a planet???after rescuing one off the planet they wouldn't send help to the others left on the planet.
So you played the game and this scenario dosent make sense to you? Ok. then.. just try never go full ...
Each scenario has it\`s own type of ending, this is crash landing (and it\`s good), you want a timed one.. go military one.
If all the scenarios ended the same way, you\`d complain about it. I think they did a great work that every scenario has it\`s challenge.
If you dont like it, dont play the game, ez. It doesnt need a fix because you cant handle it on easy.
P.S: do it as i did it, go SOLO RUN! :)
I personally think its amazing and immersive. We're on the fringes of known planet we crash land on an unknown planet with unknown disseases and issues. Each passing ship likely only contains one medical / quanrtine unit per ship and cant risk their entire vessel. Similarly they could had rationed food and due to unknown potential dangers (you had time to research the plants) theyre unable to use that food to extend their voyage. Every other ship being able to pick you up (occasionally every 3rd more so in higher difficulties) is because theyre likely trade vessels or military vessels not colonization vessels.

The fix I want for crash landing ending is to let you take your dog(s) with you when you leave!
I always feel bad leaving the pups behind

Why fix something that is not broken?

If everyone thought like that there would be no conversations like these. The ending in crash landing could be better.
