[This is a crazy conspiracy that America killed the Kandahar giant in Afghanistan. In 2002, U.S. Special Ops was said to have killed the Kandahar Giant, a 13-foot-tall beast with flaming red hair, six fingers on each hand, and two sets of teeth.](https://www.howandwhys.com/kandahar-giant/)
There’s still a mystery to me. How the heck did that line survive while that thing was getting eaten alive?? It would at least need to be alive in order to get hooked. Can anyone with fishing experience enlighten me on how that would have felt on the boat? There’s no way it was a clean chomp without any violent thrashing, that must have been felt from the boat too right?
I know I'm a half day late, but the fisherman was likely using some obscenely high rated line like 300+ pounds-force and that alone likely was not enough for a shark this size. This is probably where the mystery comes in, and this is where the rod and drag system cone into play.
Line strength is only part of the equation. Rod size, drag rating of the rod, and the slack/tension from trawling are the other variables. Skilled fishers know the right combination of line, rod size and settings, how much slack to let out, and trawl speed to balance out the force of the size of fish they're aiming for. Fisherman may have felt little to no pull when the catch was being eaten if it was at a point where the line wasn't taught -- if there was a lot of slack out to let the fish tire itself out they likely would not have felt a big ass Orca or Great White steal their catch.
I’ve caught a mako before, they don’t grow this big. It’s an illusion …..this picture is quite deceiving. Dude is not as close to it as it appears. He could do the same picture with a shrimp and make it appear 10ft long. But I agree either orca or more than likely a white.
Nice catch I totally didn’t notice that before. The shark is close enough to the photographer that its fin doesn’t fit into frame, and yet that kid is far enough back from the shark that his legs aren’t right beneath it. That shark is for sure smaller than its appearing to be
It was eaten by a group of predators or one able to attack multiple times drawn to the actions of a fish/prey in distress caused by the initial hook setting. Obviously multiple bite marks, thing looks like a half eaten sandwich.
Don’t Orcas only care about the liver and usually leave the rest of the carcass?
There are some smaller wounds around the gills, could be from the hooks of a giant squid’s tentacles?
Otherwise those are some suspiciously clean cuts.
That really is all I can think of...I'm a trained marine biologist with 4 doctorates and I also have a plaque on my well that says "Participant" on it from the Great Sack Race of '02, so when I say that the only logical explanation can be an extinct shark of Biblical proportions swam up and took a bite out of that shark, I mean it. All other ideas can be put to rest. Giant. Shark. That's it.

Wow, an argument from authority that's actually impressive! XD Probably your most valuable diploma....

Could have been a white too
White shark for sure. You can see the sawing bite pattern.
there's always a bigger fish ✨
A metaphor for life
Unless it was done by a Killer Whale. They aren't fish.
Dis is nutsen!
Clearly a tiger sharks bite. Even says it in the article
Is that shark going to be ok?
Oh he’s fine he’s just sleeping.
Resting his eyes
So it can listen better.
Listening intently
Yeah, all that body will just grow back. Like Deadpool kinda because sharks don't have bones.

Asking the real questions
*Basking the *reel questions.
Yes
It just needs some beauty rest and it'll be fine doing shark things again.
Once he’s able to wrap his head around the situation he’ll be alright
Thank you. I burst out laughing at this.
Surely he will swim it off
Nah shark wasn't that big look how far he is away from it, you can't even see his legs.
I don’t care about any of this in the slightest but he is sitting on the rail.
Also sharks don’t have legs.
Unless this was the first?

I’m a doctor, Jim! Not a goddamn marine biologist!
Orcas don't do this type of bite. Makes me think it was sliced by a propeller
So you're saying it was a boating accident
![gif](giphy|tnYri4n2Frnig)
orca whales and other bigger sharks. no mystery here

I just watched a video of a 18ft great white female and I don't think it would even be large enough to produce this bite.
But Orca males can grow to almost double that though.
I’ve caught a mako before, they don’t grow this big. It’s an illusion …..this picture is quite deceiving. Dude is not as close to it as it appears. He could do the same picture with a shrimp and make it appear 10ft long. But I agree either orca or more than likely a white.
Makos get pretty damn big. On record for Atlantic was 1300 pounds. They regularly hit 2-300 pounds and ten feet in length.
Nice catch I totally didn’t notice that before. The shark is close enough to the photographer that its fin doesn’t fit into frame, and yet that kid is far enough back from the shark that his legs aren’t right beneath it. That shark is for sure smaller than its appearing to be
This is shrimper for blue whales
Fun fact orcas are actually dolphins ![gif](giphy|E1O9IdQiFybkY)
Dolphins are actually whales
It was most likely a The Meg.
Shut up Meg ![gif](giphy|Y1JUwqDqyyHY6pDjtE|downsized)

No. He just stood there staring at it until he died.
Swam away fine.
Orcas are the apex predators in our oceans.
Maybe sperm whales too?

Most likely a Megalodon. There is literally no other explanation.

Agreed that this pic is intended to deceive. What is the tail in the water behind the dude?
It's a bird flying behind him.... Looks like a tail at first glance tho...
This was no boating accident!!
Megalodon!
I'm no marine biologist, but I'd guess a bigger shark.
ALASKAN BULL WORM
Throw that back in the water with a bigger hook. Catch it and find out.
White shark or Orca. Perhaps a giant squid even. A Meg would have left nothing. Plus they don't exists anymore... Maybe.
Starks also die and become food for others. Edit: German Autocorrect Autobahn.
no, I can’t lose another Stark.
Is that Ned Shark?

Another MUCH BIGGER WHITE.
Megalodon! You found it! GJ!
Orca
I just looked up Orca bite patterns and it's simply not a match for this bite.
There’s always a bigger fish
I'm going to vote for a sperm whale if it's not something unidentified...
![gif](giphy|57x4ApyRzkI1y)
My brothers EX wife does that to everything she meets. 🤣
The only correct answer is reptilian shapeshifting lizard people that live under the Denver Airport.
I think you're going to need a bigger boat.
Orca

Came here for this
A giant penguin
A Lovecraftian Cthulhu Penguin?
![gif](giphy|Wz7gk4e2Pxcmk) Did the penguin tell you to do it?
There is a forced perspective going on in this photo that makes the shark look way bigger than it is.
Orca
![gif](giphy|57x4ApyRzkI1y)
Leviathan. You need a bigger boat 😉
Orcas are worse
There’s always a bigger fish.
