So I took my 4 yearold boy to mutant mayhem and ever since he’s been all about TMNT and wants to play action figures with me, My 7 yearold girl would always get sad because she wanted to play too but there were no girl turtles. I went on eBay and searched to see if I could find a Venus, and finally did. When she got it in the mail she was so happy and gave me the biggest hug and now that it’s summer and they are at home they spend hours playing together with the action figures…. I preordered Jenikka for her so she has another girl and she has April
I would have preferred the Purple Dragons (no pun intended lol) as trying to fill the void left by Shredder and the foot. I might have saved the dragon king stuff for season 2 (or end of season 1 into season 2)
For a weekly show in this era, the costumes looked alright. "Alright" does not mean "great", mind you, but they were passable and did the job.
I'll also give them credit for trying something with Venus, even if it obviously didn't work. I think the basic idea was solid, expanding the roster and bringing in a fighting female character, but the romantic angle was a mistake, and magic was probably a misfire in its own right, even if it was not the franchise's first foray into mysticism.
I was basically going to say the same thing about Venus. While her introduction wasn’t great (and the fact she was their “sister” but then not so the show runners could do a love angle) them adding a female turtle to the group was a nice change up. It’s one of the main reasons I was drawn to the show to want to watch it when it first came out to begin with. She’s literally the ONLY figure I own from that line up (MOC too). I also wasn’t a fan of her being light blue, I would have preferred yellow (which eventually went to Jennika) and a lot of fan art over the years had her bandana as white.
Call me a Next Mutation apologist, but I don't hate this show.
It was a live-action cartoon, complete with goofs, gags, sound effects and slapstick. It wasn't taking anything seriously and leaned into the weird and wacky.
The suits are better than TMNT3, not the animatronics specifically but the overall suits for sure.
Did the show take some missteps? Of course it did, just like every other iterartion has.
TMNT doesn't have to be some high-art with depth a nuance, and I think it's better that way.
The designs are actually really cool when they’re done in 2D.

If NECA ever releases figures of the Next Mutation turtles, I really hope that they include alternate heads based on these illustrations. They genuinely look great when they’re not in live action.

I'll say the same thing last time this subject was broached
Dragonlord is a bit generic but not A BAD FIT for the turtles
But so many of the other villains are perfect Turtles universe enemies
Bonesteel, Silver
Make em canon in some way
Well, even that she was a unecessary addition, Venus was the only normal turtle on the show, Shredder was one of the only good characters too, and the DragonLord and his army was an interesting idea.
1: it was more turtles at a time where the OG show had ended and who knew if we would ever see them again.
2: I thought the turtles (and only the turtles) costumes were really good and pretty cool looking.
3: well no yea that’s about all for the good
For the time, the suits were actually not bad. I liked the fact that they didn't default to Shredder being the big bad. The inclusion of a fifth turtle was an interesting choice, even if I don't think they handled her very well overall.
I actually kinda liked the design of the Dragon Lords henchmen. They looked something like a cross between the Foot ninjas from the 90s movie, and something else, I want to say either a generic Cobra soldier from G.I. Joe, or the Putty Patrol from the first season of Power Rangers.
I liked the theme song (the one used when it originally aired) and the crossover with the Power Rangers plus along with the Image Comics series it kept my Turtles fandom going in a time when most of my friends and peers had moved on
If I can say something good, and I haven't seen any episodes or even clips for a while is that the costumes were at least half decent for such a fairly low budget show.
Breaks my heart when people bash this so hard, this is what got me into the turtles, and the toys, I had the hummer they drove around in, that thing was a literal tank and was used in many toy sessions when I was younger.
For a low budget live-action kids show, the suits are not all that bad. Sure, they don't compare to the movie suits, but there are WAYYYY worse Turtle suits.

Wait till she finds out about Jennika
I know I’m excited to see her reaction
The dragon people were a nice change from the shredder and they crossed over with the space rangers!
I would have preferred the Purple Dragons (no pun intended lol) as trying to fill the void left by Shredder and the foot. I might have saved the dragon king stuff for season 2 (or end of season 1 into season 2)
It didn’t give Donny nerd specs
It was ninja turtles.
This lol Bonus for a turtle with boobs... as awkward as it was...
Boobs but no nipples. How does she nurse her young?!?!

I have never both wanted and not wanted to click something so hard at the same time.
I love a Turtle with Boobs!

Well, something I'LL say is that to me, the animatronics are at least better than the TMNT III ones.
I do not disagree, and also better costumes than the "Coming Out Of Our Shell" tour or the Christmas VHS. Like I say, they do the job.

I don't mind the light blue, per se, but yellow and white are better bandanas, yeah.
Yeah it’s not the worst. Just wish it was one of the other two.
The writers used a clever money-saving technique in every episode by playing the same lengthy scene every time the turtles got in the turtle van.
Not only money saving, but you can stretch a show out!

The toys came out decently well.
10% of the jokes get a chuckle out of me. The outfits actually look ok sometimes, at least for 90s tv.
It was one of the TMNT series of all time.
It wasn’t tho, it was only one of the NT series of all time
That's what I said (I omitted a specific word on purpose).
No, you said “tmnt” which is “teenage mutant ninja turtles”, the show’s name doesn’t include “teenage mutant”
Oh, you're one *those* types.....
Sure
I think the costume designs were good
The introduction of Venus/a female turtle was a good idea, it was just poorly executed.
They got to cameo on Power Rangers.
The designs are actually really cool when they’re done in 2D. https://preview.redd.it/ny13uvirj56d1.jpeg?width=432&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5c7cc068dab50a16036259b5dae5c61a55926171
That’s actually raw as hell

"Something good about this" there said it. I will leave now
They crossed over with the power rangers. Blowing every kids mind at the time. https://youtu.be/c2fAbAyGdUU?feature=shared
I'll say the same thing last time this subject was broached Dragonlord is a bit generic but not A BAD FIT for the turtles But so many of the other villains are perfect Turtles universe enemies Bonesteel, Silver Make em canon in some way
It's been ages since I saw it, but I thought Vam Mi was pretty cool when I was a kid.
it gave us Venus De milo
Cool title.
Well, even that she was a unecessary addition, Venus was the only normal turtle on the show, Shredder was one of the only good characters too, and the DragonLord and his army was an interesting idea.
Catchy theme song
It makes people laugh.
There was a female turtle in the show for some reason
1: it was more turtles at a time where the OG show had ended and who knew if we would ever see them again. 2: I thought the turtles (and only the turtles) costumes were really good and pretty cool looking. 3: well no yea that’s about all for the good
It’s got a catchy theme song
At least they didn’t sing.
Venus, Splinter, Donnie, and some of the antagonists are genuinely good characters in this series Also it’s fun to watch even if it’s bad lol
The costumes looked great for being a TV show. They were way better than the third movie, IMO. I also like the redesign for older turtles.
It ended
It got SOME kids interested in Ninja Turtles.
It added to Power Rangers lore
The show introduced a new character, Venus
Turtoobies
I kinda like Venus
Venus was a fun new idea, just not used right The dragons were cool antagonists
For the time, the suits were actually not bad. I liked the fact that they didn't default to Shredder being the big bad. First time we saw a female turtle in a live action show
First time seeing Splinter fight in live action.
It ended
Mikey’s actor was the same as Cole from ninjago
We got to see legendary voice actor Scott McNeill play a pretty goofy in screen villain, I love that dude!
It's not on anymore.
It's funny when you look back at it.
it tried something different at a time when the franchise was trying to be as close to the OT as possible.
Tmnt and power rangers crossover
Scott McNeil was very entertaining.
Silver and Bonesteel are fun concepts that should return in future adaptations.
Breaks my heart when people bash this so hard, this is what got me into the turtles, and the toys, I had the hummer they drove around in, that thing was a literal tank and was used in many toy sessions when I was younger.
Some of the villains if redone and tuned could be legit good TMNT villains. Silver was actually pretty awesome, a gorilla in a zoot suit I dig it!
the show has a lot of fun concepts that come straight of Mirage and Venus is actually one of the better parts of the show
I honestly dont think it has a single redeeming quality. Writing, costumes, set design, acting, involved should be ashamed
Then why are you even here?
The character designs are pretty rad
I’ve never seen it so that’s probably good 👍🏼
TURTLE BEWBSSS
The crossover with Power Rangers in space was good.
For a low budget live-action kids show, the suits are not all that bad. Sure, they don't compare to the movie suits, but there are WAYYYY worse Turtle suits.
Raph doesn’t have the weird pirate bandana this time.
The best life action TMNT show hands down 🙌🙌
Also the ONLY live-action TMNT show
Venus design is cool
