Hahaa! I lived in Beijing for a decade, and while I never saw this, there where different parks that attracted certain hobbies. Some parks would be full of people cracking whips, others playing hackie sack (jianzi), others Chinese chess, also these like, oversized tops that people would spin by hitting them with little whips. Usually it was just people excursing or dancing. China has plenty of things wrong with it, as does everywhere really... but their park game was on point

To spell Exercise.

Often-Inebreated

Hahaaa! I my mahmma always told me to sound it out..

An interesting way to go. [Man Dies Trying to Exercise by Hanging from a Chin Strap](https://www.odditycentral.com/news/man-dies-trying-to-exercise-by-hanging-from-a-chin-strap.html) >On May 15, a 57-year-old Chinese man tragically lost his life while [hanging from his neck](https://www.odditycentral.com/news/bizarre-exercises-see-pensioners-hanging-by-the-neck-to-treat-back-pain.html) on an outdoor neck swing at an outdoor fitness corner in Chengxi Town, Chongqing. Police confirmed the man’s death as a result of neck hanging, and eyewitnesses declared that he allegedly rested his neck on the swing instead of his chin ,before swinging his body. Someone else suggested that he might have used too much force when swinging his body. Whatever his mistake, it proved deadly.

I wouldn’t trust this my head would probably rip off

CheapSpray9428

Just pop it back on real quick

ComfortablyNumbest

just saw a kid swinging like this to help with scoliosis on another subreddit... where's that link... will update if I find it.

forestapee

Yeah like it looks ridiculous but also it looks like my spine would be so happy

PoliticalPepper

Yeah especially the guy doing that little running movement while hanging. That looks like such a pleasant feeling decompression/release of tension in spine, low back, and hips.

romariojwz

Imagine that last stretch

LoomisCenobite

Yeah sounds like you need an inversion table, I feel like this method is a good way to break your neck/or at least fuck up vertebrae

I looked up to see who did it

Necksercise

fizzribbit

I need this

TheBerric

I wonder how much this would fix neck/back pain

fizzribbit

I think these neck swings could help a lot, but there should be a weight limit and carefulness with swinging. It might put unnatural strain on people that have neck hardware, causing complications, and it could make the jaw hurt. However, this might be better than neck or spine issues. These swings remind me of Halo devices, which operate like these swings, but without the jaw holding all the pressure, it's drilled into the skull to be more comfortable. It allows hanging to decompress and realign the spine like this neck swing.Either of these seems more appealing to me than inversion tables, which makes blood rush to my head. I would buy a neck swing if available. I would also consider halo surgery if permitted, but it's probably only for specific medical conditions 😢 I think either could help maintain a healthier spine when combined with physical therapy.

Karrakan

Try superman pose for lower back pain.

fizzribbit

You're right. It does help alittle 🙂 thank you

[deleted]

This is insanely good for you

STUDxMUF1N

Do you know where I can find one? I wouldn’t even know what to call it! I had to use something similar at a chiropractor one time and it was amazing

[deleted]

Nah lol I was just saying that based off of how it looks. I’ve not encountered this particular type of mechanism before, but I love the concept

copingcabana

Just hanging with friends

icewalker42

Not how I envisioned old people necking.

Nope.

saltyclam13345

Suicide is badass

HarrisLam

It's funny, but I'm at that age where the body starts to break down everywhere, my neck and my waist crack all, the, time. When I see this kind of stuff, I'm just starting to feel like hey, maybe they know something we don't. If the dead-hang can "decompress the body" somehow, maybe this can decompress the neck and feel really good. I'm not knocking it until I try it someday.

Illcmys3lf0ut

Inversion table. You’re welcome.

stessedoutgamer

Competitive attempted suicide

elchapine

Man I bet this feels awesome after a day of scrolling thru reddit on my phone.

MisterFixit_69

Now do it at night in the forest

jackalopelexy

This looks… dangerous?

Brokensince10

I bet that feels so good!

Fawchunate_sawn606

Reminds me of a scene i saw in history books on Nanjing

ThatIslander

There's gotta be better ways to stretch and decompress ur spine than this guillotine contraption.

CritiCallyCandid

Spinal decompression is a thing. However I'm pretty sure this is dangerous as hell in general. Especially if you have any number of medical conditions or are overweight at all.

2eqsy

Here, we call it suiside... amazing how people have different meaning for the same thing. Like enjoying pizza with pineapples and mental disorders

AnyHowMeow

They got the Jeff Who Lives At Home soundtrack on this

These "elderly" people appear to be in their 50's at most.

Apprehensive_Ant2172

So… anyone a doctor? Is this an option for a chronic spastic neck?

Alone_Possession_454

So this is how people get taller
