The only "underrated" Cure albums are the 3 everyone always craps on. 'Wish' is pretty much universally upheld as the last "great" or "legendary" Cure album.
That's because both Pearl/Porl and Boris were on the Album.
Lol's court case had put a wrench in keeping the then-band members around. Simon was out for a bit to recover from [Pleurisy](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pleurisy), Porl went on tour with Robert Plant & Jimmy Page, and then Boris left for personal reasons, but couldn't put the reason into words.
Here's a little more to it:

Well, no. The whole album is actually very rated. For example, it rates more listens per month on Spotify than any other album including Disintegration.
In Robert's own words 11/25/2022:
‘TO WISH IMPOSSIBLE THINGS’ IS REALLY THE TITLE TRACK… ANOTHER GORGEOUS, MELANCHOLIC PIECE... IT’S PROBABLY MY FAVOURITE SONG ON THE RECORD?
Hopefully everyone has had a chance to listen to this album while reading Robert’s tweets via Tims Twitter Listening Party. It was really magical to listen along with Robert and other fans. I don’t usually get that affected but this was truly special. I definitely cried haha
So 2 things --
1 - - it's probably not underrated by actual Cure fans, at least nowadays. Most hardcore fans put this pretty high up on their alltime lists. For me it's probably number 3 or 4 Cure album and top overall and has only gotten better with time
2 -- I would consider it underrated by critics (do we still care about them? maybe not, but back then people still payed attention). You rarely see it on any publications all-time albums list and at the time it made critics top 10 lists for the year, but not too many number 1s.
So underrated, yes and no!
If Wish had This Twilight Garden, The Big Hand, and Halo it might very well be my favorite album. I have it that way on Spotify. CD’s were like 72 minutes I believe back then so what to get rid of? For me Doing the Unstuck for sure is removed, hard to pick another honestly. Maybe Wendy Time but I actually like that song.
The whole album itself was extremely important during the 90s and still is. Yes, Friday is a fantastic song, but if you look deeper within the album, there is so much better, including To Wish Impossible Things and Doing the Unstuck. This song should become their closer for their concerts.
The chorus kills me every time I listen to this song.
*It was the sweetness of your skin*
*It was the hope of all we might have been*
*That filled me with the hope to wish impossible things.*
That whole album is pretty underrated. But this is an amazing cut.

I'd put this in the top 3 albums. Most people don't. Thus, underrated.
I love it so much! It’s one of my favorite albums in general
I was coming to say exactly this.
The majority of Cure fans love this album. It’s not underrated.
Well, no. The whole album is actually very rated. For example, it rates more listens per month on Spotify than any other album including Disintegration.
IDK how Spotify clocks listens, but could the fact that "Friday I'm in Love" is tipping the scales?
Man, this song is so good, I love it. I'm gonna listen to it immediately
Every time I hear it I think this could have been a Smashing Pumpkins song.
As for me, it makes me think of A Perfect Circle.
I’d go as far to say that this record is as important as disintegration. Took me awhile (28 years!) to admit that to myself.
Cried to that song many a time over the last 30 years
Yes, this is the one song that always gets me teary eyed or completely sobbing. I love it.
That bass line! Just love it.
I love this song… Fuck it, I’ma go listen to it right now. ✌🏻
It’s the best done on the album, but rarely mentioned.
Honestly I dont think this song or album is under rated. For most its their favorite album (at least after Disintegration for alot)

It’s the best song on the album, imo.
Absolutely. It’s a beautiful song but it’s hard to listen to at certain times in my life.
My favourite on that album. Hauntingly beautiful

Real one of the first ever the cure songs I heard
I absolutely give a crap to anything label underrated as long as I like it. Why should I expect the world to share what I like?
Wish is the BEST.
This album...Porl Thompson at peak brilliant magnificence.
The entire album. This was my teenage world in 1993/94.

I was just listening to this today
