i feel like that’s the point of the episode to show that gil is good in small doses but there’s a reason why he’s always broke cuz he takes advantage of people and he’s lowkey kinda shitty
The Jack Lemmon character that Gil was based on from Glengarry Glenn Ross was the same, you feel bad for him for most of the movie until he gets a tiny bit of power and then inmediatly abuses it and shows he's really an asshole at heart.
It's a couch gag from one of the modern episodes
Edit: Late but just clarifying there was a Treehouse of Horror where the family end up keeping Itchy and Scratchy, this is a different thing.
Never found ol' Gil particularly funny past his 2nd or 3rd appearance :( I get that his being super irritating and over staying his welcome is the "point" of the episode, I just don't know why they felt the need to write it in the first place!
when I would catch Surf I pay the parson whatever money I had or help them out with the house and it was just the night then I would be there to sleep and then go to work or earn money

Whose voice is that? Is that Fred?
It reminds me of that couch gag where they take pity on Scratchy and take him in. A "don't feel bad for the pitiable character" plot.
What season is that episode?
It's one of the later ones. Season 26 episode 2. Saw it in a compilation of couch gags.
Was that a couch gag? I thought that was a treehouse of horror

I hate this episode so much
Like Frank Grimes, he was never funny
Frank grimes was never supposed to be funny though. That’s not the point of the episode
Was Grimes supposed to be funny?
No clue, most overrated episode of all time
I'm with you on this.
For me it's a sign of things turning
