Okay so I have to tell this story because as hateful as it was I’m still proud of myself. Btw this will be a LONG STORY
So my first real relationship after the first time I had gotten my heart broken was with a woman I had known since I was a teenager. We were together around a year when she moved into my house which I owned (not paid off though), and I proposed to her. She then tells me her credit is horrible from when she was younger and just ran it up shopping and she’s worried it will affect our life together so she wants to fix her credit before we get married. So three months down the road I get an offer through work to go out of state for six weeks on a job and make incredible money. So we talk and decide I will pay off all her debt with this job and she’ll come see me in Kentucky on the weekends since I would only have Sundays off over the six weeks. So first few weekends are normal, we have a ton of sex and go around the town I was in on Sundays but the last two weekends something seemed off. I decide it’s just me being in my own head from being away for so long and when I return I pay off ALL of her debt.
As soon as the payments clear she tells me she started sleeping with her best friends brother who had just gotten out of prison the last two weeks I was out of town and that it was my fault for making her lonely by working so much. So I leave her and throw her out. Fast forward another three or four months and I’m out of town in northern Michigan (I live in southeast Michigan) and she calls me to tell me again how big a mistake she made and that she’s so sorry and just wants to get back together. (This had become a regular thing for her every time she drank even though she was still with prison boy)
So the second to last day of the job I tell her I’ll come get her and she can stay at my hotel with me until the job is done so we can talk and figure things out. I go pick her up and can tell she has snuck out and PB has no idea that she’s going with me. So I take her back to the hotel and that night act as though I want to work things out. I go to work the next day and finish the job, come back to the hotel and tell her that there’s about three days left on the job. That night we have sex ( I obviously wear a condom) and after she falls asleep I pack my stuff and take it quietly to the car. Around 6 a.m. I wake up and leave the hotel solo to drive home, in the process I leave her stranded at the hotel that she has to be out of by noon with a note telling her I would never trust her again and that she should not trust me unless she planned on reimbursing me the $12k I put out to pay off her debt. I then send her boyfriend PB a message on FB letting him know where he can pick her up at and that she needed to be out of the hotel by noon.
In my defense I did leave her $20 so she could get something to eat 😂. But I always smile when I think about what must have been going through her head when she woke up that morning.
He smashed and now has a free room for a week in a great city. Win win. Only downside I can see is he has to eat out for all his meals, but hey just treat it life a vacation.

In a city with a plethora of free amazing cool shit. Some of the most fun in DC is free and public transit is fantastic. One of the better places you can get stranded alone.

The Air and Space Museum’s Udvar-Hazy center is open and is awesome. It’s a bit far from downtown but it is so worth it, probably my favorite Smithsonian.
Just moved from there and I always hated the constant drone of ice cream truck music that permeated around the mall, other than that, great city with tons to do if you know the right spots and aren’t on a super tight budget.

What would you recommend doing on a Sunday (cant drive)? I've found things close pretty early from my limited google search. I'm flying there in a couple of weeks as a stopover, landing 11am on a Sunday and flying out the following morning.
Most of DC can be seen without a car. The monuments and war memorials are all outside and don't close, and it takes a fair bit of time to walk the entire area from the Library of Congress to the Lincoln Memorial, and if you swing by the White House it's even longer. That's all The Mall, and it's all open. You could spend the better part of a day outside, walking around, looking at stuff; especially if you stop and spend any time at any of the memorials.
I'm not a native - we just lived a couple of hours away for a few years and visited a handful of times, and I'm not an expert on the hours. I'd check the hours of the Library of Congress and the Smithsonian, of course, and there are other museums other than the Smithsonian that may have other hours - its a very compact city, and much of this is within 10 blocks of the Mall. There's a Madam Tussauds in DC, too.
Your hotel will probably have a city guide with the main points on it; I think the city prints them and gives them to the hotels. Unless there's a specific Smithsonian museum you want to see, I'd honestly just grab one of the hotel maps and head to the Mall.
Oh, if you want to get into, eg, the Aeronautics museum, I'd get up at the buttcrack of dawn and go stand in line. Some of the museums are super popular and hard to get into, and you could spend the morning in line. Also, don't bring anything with a blade (like, even a nail-cutter) because they won't let you in with it, and they won't give it back if they take it.
There are good restaurants. If you mean clubs and such, I wouldn't know. I wouldn't be surprised, but i couldn't say. The Potomac is right there; you might be able to rent a kayak. If you're not into historic or educational stuff, you might be SOL.
Boat cruises on the Potomac, a lot of embassies host international events (many open to the public), frequent music venues and good nightlife (9:30 Club and U Street Music Hall is really good)
There are a ton of really good parks & nature areas for hiking. Many trails everywhere; you can also rent a bike. Within DC, Rock Creek Park is amazing. If you have a car, you can go to many more like Great Falls Park, which has cliffs & waterfalls.
If you’re into shopping & stuff, Tysons Corner is one of the biggest malls on the East Coast. Bethesda is also great
If you find normal museums boring, there's an immersive [Van Gogh exhibit](https://vangoghexpo.com/washington/) that is being hosted in DC right now. It's a fun time.
There's some great roller skating rinks in the area if you want to be humbled. I've never gone from 'I've got some skills' to 'did that senior citizen do a backflip??' so fast in my *life.*
Pretty much anything you see at the Kennedy Center is going to be great. I've attended opera performances, musicals, and a depressed clown act (Puddles Pity Party)- all excellent. In addition to the Kennedy Center, there's a lot of concert venues. I've seen some really great shows at the 9:30 Club and Comet Ping Pong.
You can drop serious cash on some amazing Michelin star restaurants but also? My friends just invited me to go to some kinda viking themed drinking hall/axe throwing range. Should be a fun time, and we won't spend anywhere near as much money.
On the subject of drinking, there's some great distilleries and breweries. I liked Green Hat Gin, there's a garden you can hang out in.
If you like hiking, the Billy Goat Trail at Great Falls isn't too challenging but has gorgeous views. There's a 50ft scramble up a rock wall, so it's not all easy going- you don't need any special equipment but you will want good shoes and lots of water.

Stephanie Meyer's unpublished novel *Forever Dawn* (from the Twilight series- think sparkly vampires) was archived at the Library of Congress and you can make an appointment to go read it in person. This means nothing to 99.99% of people but I think its valuable knowledge to have in your back pocket in case you ever need a killer date idea with a certain kind of woman.

So first few weekends are normal, we have a ton of sex and go around the town I was in on Sundays but the last two weekends something seemed off. I decide it’s just me being in my own head from being away for so long and when I return I pay off ALL of her debt. As soon as the payments clear she tells me she started sleeping with her best friends brother who had just gotten out of prison the last two weeks I was out of town and that it was my fault for making her lonely by working so much. So I leave her and throw her out. Fast forward another three or four months and I’m out of town in northern Michigan (I live in southeast Michigan) and she calls me to tell me again how big a mistake she made and that she’s so sorry and just wants to get back together. (This had become a regular thing for her every time she drank even though she was still with prison boy) So the second to last day of the job I tell her I’ll come get her and she can stay at my hotel with me until the job is done so we can talk and figure things out. I go pick her up and can tell she has snuck out and PB has no idea that she’s going with me. So I take her back to the hotel and that night act as though I want to work things out. I go to work the next day and finish the job, come back to the hotel and tell her that there’s about three days left on the job. That night we have sex ( I obviously wear a condom) and after she falls asleep I pack my stuff and take it quietly to the car. Around 6 a.m. I wake up and leave the hotel solo to drive home, in the process I leave her stranded at the hotel that she has to be out of by noon with a note telling her I would never trust her again and that she should not trust me unless she planned on reimbursing me the $12k I put out to pay off her debt. I then send her boyfriend PB a message on FB letting him know where he can pick her up at and that she needed to be out of the hotel by noon. In my defense I did leave her $20 so she could get something to eat 😂. But I always smile when I think about what must have been going through her head when she woke up that morning.

In a city with a plethora of free amazing cool shit. Some of the most fun in DC is free and public transit is fantastic. One of the better places you can get stranded alone.
You can spend a whole day just in the museums. Great seafood over there too, Id low key be kind of happy my date bailed one and left me in a free hotel roo.

The Air and Space Museum’s Udvar-Hazy center is open and is awesome. It’s a bit far from downtown but it is so worth it, probably my favorite Smithsonian.
Just moved from there and I always hated the constant drone of ice cream truck music that permeated around the mall, other than that, great city with tons to do if you know the right spots and aren’t on a super tight budget.
I did noticed the ice cream trucks out numbered the other food trucks

SE stands for? Seattle? Visited a couple of cities while on a trip to the US a few years back. Seattle was by far my favorite. Had that big city & maritime vibe to it while being much cleaner than San Francisco or New York. I'm assuming you're talking about a different SE?
DC is often referenced by its quadrants, so they're probably referring to Southeast DC. That area of DC is less touristy and has a reputation (at least in the past) for having a higher crime rate.
Best part of DC is the church's chicken on Minnesota.
Southeast DC. DC's divided into quadrants based on relation to the Capitol and SE incorporates most of the east side of the Anacostia. That part of town has suffered from disinvestment and crime for decades due to a multitude of reasons, though a lot of people do exaggerate how bad it is. There's stuff to do over there, but it's not really as touristy as the other side of DC.
Seattle is pretty cool, I live here now and I like it. It's not for everyone though, you really need to learn how to say no // ignore homeless people out here because they are pushy as fuck.

What would you recommend doing on a Sunday (cant drive)? I've found things close pretty early from my limited google search. I'm flying there in a couple of weeks as a stopover, landing 11am on a Sunday and flying out the following morning.
Most of DC can be seen without a car. The monuments and war memorials are all outside and don't close, and it takes a fair bit of time to walk the entire area from the Library of Congress to the Lincoln Memorial, and if you swing by the White House it's even longer. That's all The Mall, and it's all open. You could spend the better part of a day outside, walking around, looking at stuff; especially if you stop and spend any time at any of the memorials. I'm not a native - we just lived a couple of hours away for a few years and visited a handful of times, and I'm not an expert on the hours. I'd check the hours of the Library of Congress and the Smithsonian, of course, and there are other museums other than the Smithsonian that may have other hours - its a very compact city, and much of this is within 10 blocks of the Mall. There's a Madam Tussauds in DC, too. Your hotel will probably have a city guide with the main points on it; I think the city prints them and gives them to the hotels. Unless there's a specific Smithsonian museum you want to see, I'd honestly just grab one of the hotel maps and head to the Mall. Oh, if you want to get into, eg, the Aeronautics museum, I'd get up at the buttcrack of dawn and go stand in line. Some of the museums are super popular and hard to get into, and you could spend the morning in line. Also, don't bring anything with a blade (like, even a nail-cutter) because they won't let you in with it, and they won't give it back if they take it.

There are good restaurants. If you mean clubs and such, I wouldn't know. I wouldn't be surprised, but i couldn't say. The Potomac is right there; you might be able to rent a kayak. If you're not into historic or educational stuff, you might be SOL.
Boat cruises on the Potomac, a lot of embassies host international events (many open to the public), frequent music venues and good nightlife (9:30 Club and U Street Music Hall is really good) There are a ton of really good parks & nature areas for hiking. Many trails everywhere; you can also rent a bike. Within DC, Rock Creek Park is amazing. If you have a car, you can go to many more like Great Falls Park, which has cliffs & waterfalls. If you’re into shopping & stuff, Tysons Corner is one of the biggest malls on the East Coast. Bethesda is also great
If you find normal museums boring, there's an immersive [Van Gogh exhibit](https://vangoghexpo.com/washington/) that is being hosted in DC right now. It's a fun time. There's some great roller skating rinks in the area if you want to be humbled. I've never gone from 'I've got some skills' to 'did that senior citizen do a backflip??' so fast in my *life.* Pretty much anything you see at the Kennedy Center is going to be great. I've attended opera performances, musicals, and a depressed clown act (Puddles Pity Party)- all excellent. In addition to the Kennedy Center, there's a lot of concert venues. I've seen some really great shows at the 9:30 Club and Comet Ping Pong. You can drop serious cash on some amazing Michelin star restaurants but also? My friends just invited me to go to some kinda viking themed drinking hall/axe throwing range. Should be a fun time, and we won't spend anywhere near as much money. On the subject of drinking, there's some great distilleries and breweries. I liked Green Hat Gin, there's a garden you can hang out in. If you like hiking, the Billy Goat Trail at Great Falls isn't too challenging but has gorgeous views. There's a 50ft scramble up a rock wall, so it's not all easy going- you don't need any special equipment but you will want good shoes and lots of water. Also. Stephanie Meyer's unpublished novel *Forever Dawn* (from the Twilight series- think sparkly vampires) was archived at the Library of Congress and you can make an appointment to go read it in person. This means nothing to 99.99% of people but I think its valuable knowledge to have in your back pocket in case you ever need a killer date idea with a certain kind of woman.
