Pretentious-fools

I don’t know what exam you’re attending but it doesn’t sound legal to bar anyone from changing a pad.

Less-Computer-4646

it's neet actually and idk if they'd let me take one there

juskeepbrowsing

Hey so I used to do this in school sometimes. You wear two pads. Then when you go to the loo mid-way, peel off the top one and discard. Or I put a panty liner over my pad, and then when it gets full, the liner can be discarded.

rainbow_sugar_cookie

Change pad before the exam itself. Before the exam starts they allow students to use the washrooms. Actually if I remember correctly, mai to exam ke beech me bhi gyi thi washroom. They allow girls i think.

Forsaken_Broccoli615

Oh god, neet was terrible, we were only allowed to take a transparent water bottle (some centres banned that too, people had to get water from the can they keep in the corner lol) but you can maybe try talking to the staff in your centre, they def can't ban you from changing pads.

chicken_nuggettttt

depends on your centre if they let you use restroom during the 3 hours of the exam or not. They WILL allow you to go before the exam starta and also after you've submitted you test. Inform the invigilator beforehand just incase and ask if you'll be permitted to go in between. For jee, my centre allowed us to use the restroom whenever we wanted. You can use a tampon along with a pad as extra precaution just incase.

Less-Computer-4646

they do allow going to the washroom in the middle but idk if they'll let me keep a pad in my pocket there

Beauty_404

Just wear two wishper XXXL pads, like one on top of another just peel off the top one & discard I did this and they will allow you to washroom don't worry, just try to go exactly in the middle of the time. So you can change again after finishing the exam and if you want you can go before the exam too. All the best sis 👍🏻 rock it 🫶🏻

Pretentious-fools

I never gave the exam but they can’t stop you from going to the bathroom for over 12 hours. Idk how long it is but when I took the SATs - they are 4:30 hours long, we could keep a small bag with a snack and any emergency essentials (meds, pads) on us. We got bathroom breaks and could easily go to the bathroom and change a pad. Even for the NIFT entrance exam, we were allowed to go to the bathroom. It cannot be legal for them to stop you from changing a pad in the bathroom

Less-Computer-4646

they didn't let us take a bisleri bottle inside last time so i can't tell if they'd

YouReekOfMe

You can ask the invigilator to keep the pad with them until you require changing.

Less-Computer-4646

some centres are just too bad. hopefully they let me

TriggeredGlimmer

No exams or proctors want people to soil their exam seats. That is going to be more of an inconvenience than cheating. Let your proctor know in advance of the need to use restroom during break or as required. They will allow you to go to bathroom.

Extreme-Hyena-155

Usually exam centers have bathrooms. And you put all your things in a bag in a counter or outside the exam room. Even if you carry it with you inside the room, I don't think anyone will stop you.

Less-Computer-4646

I hope they let me

Usual-Independence56

Tampon + pad + period panties seems to be the way to go. I haven't tried period panties yet but I'm definitely planning to.

Potential-Sea-8239

Period panties are good - but even if it is neet - the exam would be 2-3 hours max and rest I am assuming another hour for checks etc. so in between i dont think it will be a trouble finding a washroom

Tough-Prize-4014

I've done this with tampon and 2 pad layering. Also, I've hid a spare tampon between my boobs once. I know it might piss off some authorities but IDC because my motives were non threatening and I was willing to face the consequences if caught.

boss_bj

It's mind boggling to me that authorities are pissed off over women keeping extra set of sanitary pads. It's like they WANT women to suffer.

Tough-Prize-4014

They definitely do. I once asked a lady invigilator if their washroom might have soap available. I told her I was carrying paper soap just in case. She acted very aloof like "no how can you carry that, how will i know if there's soap, no i can't get it checked for you". She reluctantly let me in with a warning that I was the one insisting on this and this wasn't on her. I told her straightaway I'm carrying my paper soap along and will be ready to face the flying officers about it in case they have an issue against it. When I went to the washroom, forget soap.. the water pressure was barely enough to get the soap off. I've sat for numerous entrance and competitive exams in 3 different cities since 2018. Never in my experience were the washrooms hygienic enough for me to not hold my breath while i changed my pad or tampons.

boss_bj

Ugh! That sounds horrible! I can assume she herself didn't want to enter the washroom because she knew it's condition. I can't even dare to enter unhygienic public washrooms! 🤢 Changing pads in such conditions can cause infections!

Tough-Prize-4014

This is one of the reasons i started using tampons. I've had to travel a lot between my hometown and other cities for work and education. I barely travel willingly. I'd have to give myself a through cleanup down there if I'm using pads but it's so much hassle free with tampons. Only need to ensure the cleaning of my own hands and that is it. No touching gross faucets, sitting, using dirty water EW

boss_bj

I'll definitely let my sister know. She is a working woman, a teacher. She should know this.

berrrylicious

I do tampon and period panty combo Or Tampons and pad combo

rainbow_sugar_cookie

Take three pads on top of each other. Like stick them in layers. Before exam starts they allow students to use washrooms. Remove the top pad in the washroom and throw away. After exam go to the washroom again and remove the second pad. This way you don't have to worry whether they'll let you carry pads or not. They will let you use washrooms before and after exam.

[deleted]

I've tried this, and they stick hard on each other, removing one pad would often lead to destruction of the second pad and it gets really ugly and gross real quick. Not recommended

rainbow_sugar_cookie

Maybe it depends on brands on pads.. never faced this issue myself.

[deleted]

Idk I've tried it with whisper and stayfree, and it doesn't work. I can put on 2 pads that works, but choosing to remove one later on, nope. Destroys the first pad

modestghost8379

I mean why even stick it on top of each other. Use one. Put another pad (square size packed one) in your underwear. Go to bathroom in the middle and throw the used one and uncover the new one and stick it.

rainbow_sugar_cookie

Some centres don't even allow transparent water-bottles, pens and such.

modestghost8379

Hide it inside your underwear

rainbow_sugar_cookie

If you're using the pink whisper pads (they're quite thin and soft) it's very practical and somewhat comfortable .. I have done this multiple times when traveling, and I learnt it from my mother. Ofc it's not ideal but in situations like this, being little uncomfortable is better than soiling and staining clothes in public. It was just a suggestion to OP, she can decide what's best for her.

Patient_Strategy996

Wow! That’s a nice idea

quietcutequitefiesty

In most exams you can use the washroom after taking permission. Which exam is it btw? Atleast in neet, cuet and all other ug entrances people were allowed to use the washrooms.

Less-Computer-4646

yup I can go to the washroom there but will they let me take a pad with me?

quietcutequitefiesty

That depends on the exam, however are u going to stay there for 14 hours straight? Which exam is it? 😭 As for traveling, just adjust for one day at petrol pump washrooms or dhaba ones. Any restaurant you will stop at for food will have a washroom. I guess in the classes, you will get breaks during that exam in the middle, when u can maybe access sanitary pads in your bags, or However, you can also consider using some big sized ones, whispers does have a night xxl pad or something. Or you can use a menstrual cup if you are comfortable

[deleted]

Just get an adult diaper. Wear something loose like a flowy dress.

Less-Computer-4646

diapers are very thick tho and it heats up like anything in these summers

[deleted]

Some diapers are pretty thin. Just go to a medicine shop and ask them if they have thin adult diapers. Otherwise you're probably going to have to use double XL pads.

Less-Computer-4646

yeah I'll look up for them

[deleted]

Alternatively you can buy period panties. That's basically what I do these days. I wear period panties but I still use a XL pad inside my period panties because I have PCOS and have really heavy bleeding.

Less-Computer-4646

ohh that should help thanks a lot!!

Nim_Ajji

Maternity pads, period panties or adult diapers. Maternity pads are massive they can hold a huge quantity

[deleted]

Firstly i think you woukd be allowed but try period panties, they last a whole day and also use the pad. So you would be extra secured. Also no one can stop you from changing your pad, it's basic biology and you're studying to become a doctor yourself, you must stand up for yourself, not changing the pad for the entire day is not only going to cause leaking or discomfort but also invites alot of health issues

Less-Computer-4646

yeah I hope they let me keep a pad with myself

insanesputnik

At the gate where the checking is done, inform them about the pad (they mostly just collect and keep it with themselves, you can get it later on) As for leaving the exam hall, I was allowed to leave it before the exam started. My checking was around 7am slot I think and the exam wasn’t until 12 maybe ? (I don’t recall tbh but there was a gap. I was allowed to move around till 1 hour before the exam.) A girl in my hall had asked for pad that she had submitted before. Edit: this was 2018 though, might be different now

noDramaaLlama

Hey, this sounds terrible. You could use the whisper black pad maybe, the XXXL one. It usually lasts me a full day if I am stuck in a situation like an overnight bus journey or something. Stay hydrated and all the best! If nothing else works and you haven’t started your period yet, one option also could be to take the pill to delay your periods. You take one pill per day until you don’t get your periods. You usually get your periods once you stop. Only suggesting this because this seems like an emergency and I would die writing an important exam on my periods

bhujiya_sev

It's definitely illegal to keep you from using bathroom but in case it's not very clean or it would eat up into your exam time, here's what I do: 1. Take premolut n if ik I'm going to be on first or second day of periods on the important day. 2. I use disposable period panties in such situations. They are pretty much leak proof but I have leaked on bed twice with it, very minimal leaking but yes.

Less-Computer-4646

I'd get to use the washroom in mid but idk if they'll let me keep a pad in my pocket there

pumpkins_n_mist15

Ideally they should. It is illegal to deny you the right to hygiene and using the restroom. But I get it, right in the middle of a big exam is not the best time to assert our rights. 😥

ConfusedFanGirl0502

I have double layered during exams. But exam centres have washrooms. You should be able to change once there

antisocialclub__

get period underwear (disposable one)lasts long upto 10h

ChilliGarlicNoodles

All excellent advices. I'll also suggest to just keep an extra pad with you and declare it while frisking. While I don't know about NEET but I've had one or two instances where I took a pad with me to the centre and they just allowed it.

Proper_Economics_299

Yikes. Is this going to be a high flow day? I presume you mean disposable pads? Have you ever tried using any other products like cups? Can you try putting 3 night time/hi flow pads? Sort of distribute it in a way that allows you to stick two, with a slight overlap of front over back, and have the third unstuck on top. And keep the wings tucked in and not stuck around because those are the main culprits for leak stains. That way if you get a chance to use a private space you can take off the floating one, roll it and out it in a bag. (i use wet bags for this but a ziploc type sealing bag should work). A disposable period panty could work but indont know its capacity. You can use that instead of the two lower pads. Yeah your bum is going to be well cushioned. Also wear dark coloured absorbent pants (and a longish dark/black kurta) and avoid sitting on any upholstered chairs if you can avoid it. But i really hope you get a chance to at least take off the top pad if not replace it. Edit: but do take a shot and explain that you will need bathroom access. Dont be shy to state menstruation as a reason.

Less-Computer-4646

I'll try doing the floating pad thingy it should help ig

ResponsibleSun621

Why are they putting aspiring medical professionals through this?

Meme___Addict

Because it is easier to let young girls suffer rather than coming up with a solution to tackle such situations.

EconomyBright

Use a whisper XXXL pad if you can. I used to wear my mothers XXXL pads for these entrance exams. I still use these if I feel I may not be able to change pads for more than 4 or 5 hours like train journeys or long inter-state drives where bathrooms are not accessible. TMI: I may have even peed a bit in these. They are not diapers but they hold well. When I have my PCOS heavy flow these come in good use for me. It's pretty long, so no tension about leakage from front or back and it's thick enough to prevent side leakage and also bearable even in summers. Better not take any pads with you unless you want to deal with some "rule-abidding" invigilator (you can't be sure what kind of invigilator you are going to face and what all rules they are going to throw at you. You don't have the time or energy to argue with them na.). Just put a fresh pad just before you enter the exam centre if possible. That way you don't need to worry. Also I suggest you don't use anything else that you are not used to all of a sudden during the exam (like tampons n menstrual cups) though these are great, it's not the occasion to try them out. After all, you may have spent considerable time preparing for the exam na. Even if you leak bit, don't worry and give the exam with your head held high. All the best.

bicazamabeach

You can use two pads, one at the front, one at the back (try not to stick on top of each other or it may break the top layer). Additionally you can use tampons/menstrual cups if you want extra protection along with the pads. And maybe a period panty too like the other user said.

Humdrumofennui

How I control my periods when I know I won’t be able to get a washroom for 8+ hours- 1. I usually wear a cup, but I wear a pad along with it to control spillage 2. I take menstrual cramps medicine, they also suppress my period flow and make them more manageable (Drotin-M ftw)

Ka_lie_doscope-Eyes

Wear a period panty, along with your pad.

pressing_o

Period panties. Sirona ones are good. They are like adult diapers. Is it 100% hygienic to keep it on for 14 hours? No. But at least you won’t leak out.

pumpkins_n_mist15

It is absurd for a national examination not to "allow" pads or visiting the washroom. I have appeared for UGC NET and UPSC exams and never faced a problem. Anyway, wear double pads (one behind the other) and try to use a period underwear as well.

delishmango23

Wait there’s no way someone is barring you from taking a pad. They can check, but they can’t stop you

Chotibachihoon

Period panties can be your friend in this situation ? Club it with a pad or menstrual cup

Aranciniballs

Neet is horrible. I remember the heavy duty frisking before entering the exam room. I think you can just change right before entering the exam room. Just carry a spare and ask the didi in the washroom to keep it for you. That way you can change right after you get out of the exam again.

disappointedgirl12

How about using a period panty or super-absorbant alternative?

noicebutnotsmort

There are these whisper XXXL size pads - ive heavy-ish flow and it lasted an entire day when i had to go to a rural area for a field visit. If you can manage to go to loo once in a while it should be comfortable. Maybe use it along with period panties and darker shade clothes

DesiCodeSerpent

They should allow you. Seeing a pad they should know what it is. It’s not the 1650s or something. Take it and go. I doubt it’s legal to stop you from taking one.

IceBear5321

Cup+Pad can be a solution. I usually take that route whenever I am travelling to any remote area and not sure about when and how to change. Usually this combination hold the ground for next 12-15 houts even during heavy flow

Hot_Honeydew_3628

Girl move to Menstrual cup - not right now as it will take few days to be comfortable and confident but give it a try for future. It's the best thing that has happened to me and a lot of other ladies I know. I wonder why no one mentioned about it, it helped me so much specially with the fuss around sanitary napkins and tampons.
