They are too close together. I have ones that are spread out and my horms still claw each other

madstyx

Yeah that makes sense for Horms, would be difficult to pile them into combat, anyway I feel!

Nintura

Its the same for terms too

glenjamin1616

Haven't used em with nids, but I 3D printed some for my brother's necron warriors and a friend's ork boys, and they definitely save a ton of time. They can be a bit of a hassle after some of the models die and you still just have extra tray extending out on the field, but the hassle is worth the speed imo

Nintura

Use dice to show number of models left and just leave the models on the tray

glenjamin1616

It's more that like, it leaves table space occupied that would otherwise be free for movement. The trays are flat enough though that it's easy to park another model on top of the open tray slots if necessary.

Spirited-Relief-9369

I use 3d-printed ones for my swarms and hordes as well; usually, I keep the last five out of a tray, for ease of movement and removal; as you point out, a tray with one or two left in it is inefficient in several ways.

SuspiciousM0lasses

With 120+ gaunts in my current lists they work very well. As the game goes on and units take casualties, or you want to manoeuvre more finely the bases can be discarded. They save a lot of time and faff though.

Swift_Scythe

Heck yeah i use those. Theyre really cheap and affordable and keel very tight base to base formations. They really snug the bases tight when grouped up. I also use the official games woekshop clear plastic randomized shapes Apocalypse and the modems fall out of that tray with a nudge. Very disappointing considering the GW premium price.

Summonest

I use these and I magnetized em (and my gants bases) works amazingly for my 180 gant lists

Puzzleheaded_Basil64

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2746887 10 model option I made a long time ago

Major_Tom01

I thank you on my grots behalf. I usually just literally toss a handful into the objective and leave them there instead of fiddling to right them all constantly. Grabby limbs and a roughly equal size on all sides so no one seems to care lol.

Major_Tom01

Must have for any army moving more than 40 bodies. Orks and nids in particular really need these to make efficient use of time. Sliding 5 infantry at a time vs picking and placing. Once you get them slid into place, you can take them out to wrap around or make a wall. I couldn't fathom moving my 200+ orks without them. 3d printer makes them quick and cheap.

WH40Kev

I find the game is too nuanced to rely on them. Auras, cover, LoS, engagement range, premeasuring (range, screening), resurrecting. Great to start deployment and even pregame moves but back to individuals for me so I dont bother.

madstyx

That's actually a great point. After deployment, or maybe the first movement turn 1 you take them off the tray and even then you've saved a lot of time and hassle

Major_Tom01

Trust me, as an ork player who relies heavily on hiding around corners/out of line of sight, it's not an issue. If you need to take one or two out to wrap them, it's still way easier than eating up all your time moving 100+ models.

HuntingYourDad

I have some MDF ones from Element Games (in the UK). They're straight lines rather than a clump like the image. I found them useful because I like to run ~90 gaunts but tbh I've only played about 5 games of 40k over the last 5 years.

Eel111

I fight a war of attrition, either I win or they surrender in my movement phase

gauntsoaf

I use 10-man ones for my Guard and they're 100% worth it. Moving 7 or 8 bases instead of 70 or 80 saves a huge amount of time & sanity. If you need to be more accurate with placement for auras / wrapping / move-blocking / screening / getting onto objectives....... just take them off the base as needed

Xem1337

Honestly I've never had an issue moving hordes. You measure one or two at the front and push everything else up in roughly the same positions they were in pre movement.

quirkyqu33fer

I tried them, they’re a neat thing BUT they don’t work with horms or terms due to the limited space. The tails, guns, and arms get in the way. These are suited for humanoid models

Bulky_Mix_2265

I find my terms fit fine. I have to be cognisant of claw position when stacking horms.

RVNR

I tried them, but they were way too tight and I always winced when trying to remove a Gant with only one foot attached to the base.

iamalphariusalso

I like the apocalypse ones

NaturalAfternoon7100

I use the them to maintain a small footprint for my gargoyles so they can hide.
