I have a metal hive tyrant that I painted up already, I'm painting them like my bugs that I have irl so my monsters are going to be painted like my tarantulas and all my little dudes are painted like Dubia roaches. I'm super excited to post more when I get them done!

Edit to add: Awesome idea and it’s awesome seeing couples sharing the hobby. I’m pushing 36 and I’ve only just found a partner who wanted a test game of W’ammer (AoS), after that we’ve built our respective armies (her DoK because snakes and the “paint like our own”, myself the spooky bois). She’s beaten me 5-0 and given another few units to paint and she’s got me beat.
The idea of painting them like my bugs is what finally made me commit to getting them. I'm already thinking that I'm gonna have to get more bugs for my characters so fruit Beatles could be in the mix. I was looking at the neurogants and tryna think of what I could do for them, fruit Beatles might be good
I tried it with Seraphon and going units themed on my snakes patterns. Managed the Carnosaur then got overwhelmed how to paint a unit slightly different shades of brown and gave up.
Understandable 😂 one of my tarantulas is a curly hair so it's just brown with lighter brown hair and I still haven't figured out how I'm gonna do that one
My group just got two of our girlfriends into the game (My GF went, Necrons and buddies GF went Orks), and we splurged. Now we have 5 players in our little group! Attempting to attract more to the plastic crack.

I just came to that realization a week ago so you're not alone 😂
It's because a lot of nid stuff was named off of different nicknames for women, most of which are quite funny.
A surprising amount of the nid roster is real words and not, as most people suspect, alien sounding copyrightable mumbo jumbo.
