Look into dogs on deployment. my wife volunteered there for a while.

Ambitious_Parfait840

Somehow I don’t qualify for them. That was one of the first organizations I looked into

_Kaiser_Wilhelm

Have your parents or a friend take him if possible

Ambitious_Parfait840

Problem with family is their downsizing to a smaller house, basically getting an apartment. Good majority of my friends are military living in the barracks

ldc963

Have one of your trusted barracks friends dogsit for you. As long as they go to field day they can stay at your house too.

Ambitious_Parfait840

Trying to work the situation out with getting a house now. I just got married last month the wait list for Lejeune housing is wild I’m trying to get a house off base to avoid the wait

Possible-Haida

If you’re married why would your spouse not watch the dog?

Ambitious_Parfait840

Expecting a baby the moth I leave. It’s shit timing but unfortunately that’s how it worked out

MichaelMillerDev

Have your parents watch your dog for a few weeks in their apartment. Then your wife watches the family dog when she feels recovered

Ambitious_Parfait840

They’re borderline refusing to do it even tho they’ve helped me for years with her

Nihlathakk

Aww shit bro I’m sorry about that I did the same in 08.

gizmogrape

Have someone not going stay at your house and take care of it…

Exfil-Camper69

Where I used to live, I had a very good relationship with a dog day care outside base. They always did right by me and my dog and genuinely cared about him. They Siad they have a special for military who are deployed and watch them.

Ambitious_Parfait840

What’s the place ?

Exfil-Camper69

Funny Faces bed and biscuit in Lemoore, CA

Dlatywya

Try Joyful Hearts (here’s the FB link https://www.facebook.com/share/Nm1gU49nJhD4TkfX/?mibextid=LQQJ4d). If anyone can find you a foster, I’d bet on them. Check with your city’s subreddit, too. I’m sorry your family didn’t keep your dog. Keeping my son’s dog kept me sane when he left for boot. No dog has been more spoiled. IMHO, there needs to be some way for these dogs to stay on base. I’m not even thinking about the dogs; it would do wonders for everyone’s mental health to have a buddy to love and care for.

Ambitious_Parfait840

It’s really unfortunate because she happens to be a pit. So I couldn’t keep her on base if I wanted to. She’s the sweetest dog too like I swear she’s terrified of a fly 😂

maneuver_element

Where you stationed ? If you’re near 29 I’ll take him.

Ambitious_Parfait840

I appreciate that bro but I’m in Lejeune , and they have been for over a year now so I just figured it’d be okay

janyay18

There is another organization called Dogs on Deployment you could try. But if any family are willing, even if downsizing or you'd have to drive a distance to get the dog there, that would probably be ideal.

devildocjames

Find someone to adopt it. You got a dog with no expectations to deploy or something?

Ambitious_Parfait840

Had the dog in high school with no intent on joining.

devildocjames

Aaaaaand, after you joined, what'd you think?

Ambitious_Parfait840

That my family would help take care of her

devildocjames

I guess you got the answer. Nothing you can do unless you marry it and have it put on your DEERS. Then, it can be a dependa and get housing.

crazymjb

There goes a bunch of your deployment money. Sometimes doing the right thing is expensive.
