Call MPs and provide as much information as you can. Time/date, any witnesses like other neighbors, any recordings or photographs of the guy, the damage done, annotate if anything was stolen, if you have information on the guy himself. CID would probably be interested as well, which the MPs would route the incident to them for a more detailed investigation.
I feel like this is common sense though, but more info would be needed. Did he break in while you were there? Self defense would be okay and then call 911, just make sure you read the state and federal laws on stand your ground laws. If you DO have to use lethal force, even though it is fully justified, don’t speak to law enforcement without talking to an attorney first. Lethal force would require a full investigation and an interview with agents about how it occurred. That means every word you say will be scrutinized. So don’t speak until you got a lawyer and they advise you.
Did someone break in or you suspect they broke in but are no longer there? Do you know who they are? Even if you don’t, at least call PMO to have a report created. There might be cameras in the vicinity that could be checked (if they even work, cameras on base are almost always broken). If there’s no leads to go off of then not much can be done, but at least there’s a paper trail.
I would advise you also get security features like stronger locks and cameras around the house.
