Whilst the ~~Gepard~~ Tunguska is mostly intact, the hit and subsequent burn happened in the rear of the vehicle, which is where the radar is stowed (i.e. definitely disabled).
~~Not only is it very fragile, but given the Gepard is only still used by 2 other countries (Romania and Brazil), and as legacy equipment, it's gonna be difficult to find parts to repair it (or even someone who could).~~
Not only is it quite fragile, but given Russia is the primary producer of parts for it, and none of Ukraine's allies use it, it will be difficult to find parts to repair it with.
Edit: Not a Gepard
Someone point out that it looks more like 2K22 Tunguska and I kinda agree.
the side of the turret with automatic cannon and missile rack does not look like Gepard.
Definitely possible, its not the most clear view of it. The point would still stand regarding the radar and fragility, but it'd be worse in terms of repair and parts as none of Ukraine's allies use them.
Lost Armour now also says it was Tunguska.

- *Hello guys, and today we are unboxing potentially Flakpanzer Gepard or Tunguska. So lets see what we have here, shall we.*
I mean they were the largest republic after Russia in the Soviet Union and pretty much inherited what was based there. Plus had the industrial capacity to keep a good bit operational
That's a tunguska the shape of the turret and the missile racks on the sides of the guns these are the lighter coloured shapes you can see on each side of the turret also the shape of the hull the tunguska is more boxy then the Gérard as the gepards are more rounded off at the rear.
Ukraine Army please implementate Cantabrian circle strategy were your constantly moving. How long was this smoke break for? Literally everyone standing around for hours.
Too bad, they could have hit the truck too. I suppose it's not that common an armoured transporter. Even if it is easy to build it.
But here again, it shows how interesting this offensive is for Russia. The Ukrainians are obliged to move their mechanised elements, and to hit and destroy them while they aren't yet still on the front line. In this case, Russia is playing very well at destroying what few equipment Ukraine has.
Why waste another Lancet or a FPV drone to destroy a truck that can be replaced at 0 cost (at least in terms of relative availability). it is a civilian truck with a civilian flat trailer with olive paint
I agree with you.
Flatbeds that can transport a tank are not that common.
That being said, at 35t most civilian equipment transports for heavy equipment should be able to move it, even of they are normally rated to 24t or so.
I assume they would just use a regular construction flatbed transporter and overload it. Plenty of max loads are.meant not to destroy the roads, and long term.safety, so if you don't have enough tyres to transfer the load, the pressure would be excessive for the road.
Of course you don't want to overload the tyres. That is dangerous, but unlikely to happen, and even overloaded tyres can be ridden with caution up to a point.
A system capable of moving safely an Abrams or challenger tank, a 62/64t behemoth, would be worth hitting, not many systems can do that.
A Lancet is always cheaper than a truck, isn't it? I honestly don't know. We've seen the destruction of civilian trucks transporting rubble to fill in or build trenches (with an FPV drone, admittedly). I figure that's still one logistics vehicle destroyed.
But you're right, of course. The valuable target is destroyed here. But if you want to make something perfect, you can destroy the truck too !
In terms of price, for sure a Lancet is cheaper, but the value is much higher.
It's also possible they sent a FPV later to finish the job and we just didn't get to see the footage.
Jesus Frenchie, it's vehicle without an "u". Not trying to pick on you or anything, just tried to read this out loud and thought it sounded funny with an u lol

Corrected my comment
Hey Heyhey Hayden, when are you going to drop your next update on the situation? 🤔. Big fan of your posts👌🏼
With Hardback_Writer back in the game I suggest you look around and wait for his post, HeyHeyHayden is guaranteed to post his analysis there .
Alright, thanks! 👍🏼

Ukraine even had Tunguskas? Ukraine had lots of Soviet gear prior to the conflict it seems.
I mean they were the largest republic after Russia in the Soviet Union and pretty much inherited what was based there. Plus had the industrial capacity to keep a good bit operational
Ukraine was also considered the first frontier in hypothetical war with NATO. That's why there's so many bunkers, air strips, military installations
Not cool, at least let them do the Unboxing first

It being a tunguska is even more interesting, combat footage of those that i've seen since 2014 is <5 videos.

Costs a lot of fuel to have everything moving around, nothing exists in a vacuum I guess
Moving makes it much easier to get spotted by a drone.
Lancet rocks

Does not look like a Gepard
Because its a 2K22 Tunguska.
tunguska is more valueable fish because it come with extra 8x ready to fire anti air missile
basically not Gepard and not destroyed LOL
Its very much destroyed, its just isnt a Gepard.
if this was a Russian vehicle this sub would be "it's fine, will be repaired"
What the hell are you talking about? It's on fucking fire. It will be impossible to repair. "It's fine, will be repaired" is a Ukrainian meme.
Difficult to argue for repairs after turret toss...
"Dude, where's my Tunguska?" "Erm... about that..."
At least let them unpack the thing first...
Well, this sucks
I'd say it's Tunguska - https://i.imgur.com/jtWfJt6.gif, not Gepard
wut air defe.... nvm.
This might be the first Russian war video I've seen that doesn't include painful nail on chalkboard tier music.
Impressive video quality. Looks improved and almost 1080. Upgraded cameras ?
Apparently there were lancet strikes and only the first one was shown. You can see that from the amount of lancet's wings fragments on the ground
I count 7 “wings”, a Lancet has 8 wings, so no evidence of multiple strikes
That's true, my mistake. I also saw the same wings after the impact.
Prelude to an additional front?
ukrainian bringing enforcement but the russians are monitoring the roads, seems like a bad combination for ukrainian
I love how when a vehicule cannot be easily identified, pro-ru will default to NATO vehicules.

Seems like a pointless thing to care about in a sub where a lot of comments are made by russians that barely speak english and make tons of mistakes.
I swear the lancets were more powerful than this. This can easily be repaired
Unlikely, hit (and burn) in the area of the search/track radar. Spares will be very limited
I see. So is this tank recoverable or will need to be stripped down for parts?
This isn't even a tank. It's a lightly armored anti-aircraft vehicle. Lancet cuts through it like butter
I see interesting
> This can easily be repaired Not without a lot of spare parts (in particular the radar). Only one country makes these parts btw.
Lancet can penetrate 230mm RHA
