In my bed
The chair in my uni accommodation hurts my back and my butt even when I put a blanket down on it. It’s literally so uncomfortable I don’t know where they got these from and the lever on the side doesn’t work so I can’t even adjust it properly.
It depends - so I have a folding desk that I can use in my bed and my normal computer desk.
If I can afford to watch something on tele but need to make some attempt to my course work, I’ll use the folding desk in bed, or if I’m struggling to sit comfortably at my desk (I have some physical problems where I need to sit at some more comfort than a chair) so that’s where I’ll use that.
Plus I use the folding desk if I want to watch something I’m continuing on tv too that I don’t want to wait to watch, but again I try to only do that if I have lesser important work to focus on, such as just gathering notes, reading through some module material etc.
If I need to really focus and I can’t afford to waste time, the computer desk faces the wall and has my back to the tv, so then the tv will only have something I don’t care so much about focusing on and it’s there for background noise but means I’m not sacrificing my study time.
I'm doing computing so have desk with extra
monitors. I find it really hard now just using one screen. Never on sofa or in bed, even if only needing one screen.
Desk.
I wonder how effective it would be to study at a bed that isn't stationary, and positioning your lap or body in strenuous positions.
With a desk. The table is in front and doesn't wobble. Similarly, with a good chair, you are comfortably positioned in 1 spot.
I spent the majority of my time studying at a desk. Studying at your bed is inviting insomnia at the worst and low quality sleep at best. I strongly advise you not to do it! Having your desk and bed in the same room is bad enough but for many of us we had to make do.
The bed should only be associated with relaxation and intimacy
I mean, it’s not an individual thing - objectively, it is bad sleep hygiene to do anything like work or tv in bed and any sleep expert will tell you this - great if you’re not affected by it right now but it’s not a good habit to get into and you could develop sleep issues in the future if you get into this routine.
I usually study/work at my desk
On Fridays and Saturdays exceptions to this rule can be made, for example I'll often allow myself to work elsewhere (e.g. in cafe), or from my armchair in lounge.
Depends. Usually at my desk, but sometimes I just don’t have the energy to get out of bed lol. My bed’s against the wall, so I prop a pillow up against it and sit on my bed (i don’t lie down, otherwise i’ll just sleep)
If you prefer studying in bed I can’t recommend a lap desk enough!!
I don’t have a desk in my room and my posture was awful from slouching over my laptop. I bought a lap desk with pop up legs so that it sits a bit higher and it’s been a life saver!!
I study in my bed by sitting cross-legged. But for serious studying, I'd always prefer going to the library or a café etc. I tend to lose all seriousness when I'm cooped up in my room..
Mostly sofa, rarely a desk, NEVER a bed, I used to in college and it would make bedtime so anxiety inducing because I felt like I was supposed to be doing work. Sofa did give me back pains if i stayed in the same place for too long so I would alternate to the desk during high-pressure/deadline weeks.
I have to study at the library or a café, otherwise I can't focus.
But if I'm pulling an all nighter and go home (around midnight) I mostly sit at my desk, with intermittent trips to my bed to stave off the back pain (I have that shrimp posture from years of bad eyesight)
Desk, but please, for the ever-loving-of-god, get a comfortable chair!!
I let my sister choose the desk and chair of our room when we moved in, and while the desk was basic, she got this absolute monstrosity of an aesthetic chair!
It has no back support, so you slouch and it gives you back pains.
It's made of hard plastic and no cushion, so my ass starts to hurt after sitting for only 30 min.
It had no arm rest, so my forarm/elbows hurt and had marks from resting it on the edge of the table for too long.
I don't give a flying fuck what kind of desk you choose, but you MUST invest in a good chair!
Desk during summer, bed during winter because it's cold and I get too depressed to leave my bed. I'd recommend getting a bed table if you have the same problems.
at desk if study in my bed i am going to sleep no matter what

This is such a niche bot
Too many syllables buddy!
It’s a Sokka Haiku so it’s 5-7-6 :D
What da hell
Desk cos im defo going snork mimimi land if i get into bed
Took me out
Desk and then bed is a treat
Desk so that my laptop doesn’t overheat.
Engineering programs don’t like being run on a laptop , on battery, and on top of a duvet lol
MacBook?
Intel macbook*
I bought a cooling fan, now i’ve got a cutting board, cooling fan and then laptop works a treat

alternate when i get bored of one, keeps me locked in and i don’t know why
bed

Desk.
Sofa if just doing reading, or a quick edit to an essay but for writing the essay will always be the desk
Studying in bed is risky my friend, don’t mix pain and pleasure or things can get weird real quick
I will do anything to avoid studying or working in my room - ideally I’ll work from the library or a library cafe.
i study best in bed tbh, lets me get comfy so i can focus on the studying pretty much all of my essays have been written in bed lol
Desk in a library. I'm not getting anything done in a room on my own, no matter what position I'm sitting in
Always in bed
Studying in bed is really bad sleep hygiene, please don’t do this
i live in my bed
Yeah that’s also bad sleep hygiene. I did the same all through my undergrad years and I’ve struggled with insomnia for years.
Maybe its an individual thing cos I love sleep, takes me maybe 5 mins from shut-eye
I mean, it’s not an individual thing - objectively, it is bad sleep hygiene to do anything like work or tv in bed and any sleep expert will tell you this - great if you’re not affected by it right now but it’s not a good habit to get into and you could develop sleep issues in the future if you get into this routine.
desk cos i write a lot
I did everything in bed 🤧
Always a desk. I'd always make an active effort to go to the library and study so I could seperate work and play as much as possible.
I always study at my desk but did my 7 hour open book exams on my bed aha
Desk
Desk or else I do no work
Definitely at a desk but if I’m just going over notes and highlighting info I’ll get in bed (usually bcs I do this right before I go to sleep)
Desk. If I try to do anything in bed that involves reading or listening, I'm asleep very quickly. Not worth it.
Anywhere but my room, a cafe, the library, kitchen, friends house, any Uni building, just not in my room
FLOOR!!!! I have a little yoga cushion to sit on and a little stool for my laptop.
Used to do both, I had a wooden laptop table for bed that I used. IMO I'd suggest not revising in bed and keeping it exclusively for sleeping.
I have never heard of anyone studying in their bed
Desk to start, enter flow state, move to my bed, crank out 2 hours
Desk!
At desk in a library usually
I study for exams always at a desk and for completing assignments I keep switching between bed and desk when my back needs a rest.
The library
I usually study/work at my desk On Fridays and Saturdays exceptions to this rule can be made, for example I'll often allow myself to work elsewhere (e.g. in cafe), or from my armchair in lounge.
i’m a maths student so a lot of my work is written and needs desk so if i have something i can do just on my laptop in bed is a rare treat then
you should have different associations with different areas. Kitchen to eat, bed for sleeping and desk for studying. its healthier that way
A desk it’s the best to beat procrastination, but try a library if you can :)
People study in bed? That's nuts.
Depends. Usually at my desk, but sometimes I just don’t have the energy to get out of bed lol. My bed’s against the wall, so I prop a pillow up against it and sit on my bed (i don’t lie down, otherwise i’ll just sleep)
Desk > floor > bed
Bed.
desk at the uni library always. following 9-5 office hours. this is the only way i got anything done
Desk, never bed
If you prefer studying in bed I can’t recommend a lap desk enough!! I don’t have a desk in my room and my posture was awful from slouching over my laptop. I bought a lap desk with pop up legs so that it sits a bit higher and it’s been a life saver!!

Other - on my sofa
Depends what I’m doing. Going through lectures and typing notes - bed. Doing mind maps and memorisation - desk.
Obviously desk
This year I’ve stuck to never working in my room and it’s worked amazingly for my productivity, all of my work has been done in the library
I don’t know how anyone studies in bed
desk, it’s too difficult to do any sort of maths crap in bed 😭
I have to study at the library or a café, otherwise I can't focus. But if I'm pulling an all nighter and go home (around midnight) I mostly sit at my desk, with intermittent trips to my bed to stave off the back pain (I have that shrimp posture from years of bad eyesight)

study away from an area of rest. if you keep the two separate youll have an easier time with both
Desk at uni, I can't for the life of me study at home
My desk is best for me when im taking notes but far as practising, my bed and my bedroom floor are the best spots for me to revise
Desk, or library if I can't focus at home. Bed is way too uncomfy to sit up and write on
Desk during summer, bed during winter because it's cold and I get too depressed to leave my bed. I'd recommend getting a bed table if you have the same problems.
Desk, stopped studying in bed when I entered uni, back and neck always started aching after a while
Both, depending on how I'm feeling...
At desk
Bed
I lay on my bed since I find it uncomfortable to write for long periods sat up.
For some reason I prefer to study in bed but I think I’m gradually gonna change to a desk then lie in bed as a reward
Study in bed for 1-2 hours then get too tired and put my laptop on the floor to sleep
I'm the kind of person who believes it is important to have a dedicated space for every activity. So always desk.
I find it actually impossible to study in bed, I have to have a desk, if possible a tidy deep desk with a large monitor so I can work comfortably
TIL studying in bed is bad for you 😭
Both I get chills easily so I just migrate to my bed.
Desk :-)
Desk when I feel energised, bed if my energy is low but still gotta work. Also bed if I do sth passive eg watching lectures
Desk. Better for long hours.
Studying in bed is a bad idea. Do not do it
bed because i can work for longer hours
Floor
Bed. Desk is too serious.
Bed, mostly because it’s the only place I can sit comfortably for hrs on end
I don't im cooked
