Unfortunately I didn't plan where we are staying otherwise I would just do this, we already have a different place booked

Artwebb1986

So go do the math and figure out if it's cheaper to get the hotel room vs buying it separate. I'd never go to universal without express.

Real-Distribution32

Actually after looking into it this would make sense for a group of 4 but since its only myself that needs express pass it would cost quite a bit more

Artwebb1986

Makes sense even for 2 usually. But single person not a chance. May 26th is $269.99 and 27th is $249.99 so unless the room is less than $519.99 then it's not worth it.

Real-Distribution32

Yeah if I was going with a group that was only going to universal I would definitely do this but half of my group is only going to disney

Artwebb1986

Yah don't even need a group. Even myself and the gf, booking one night at Royal Pacific for $618 gets us 2 days of express, which for those 2 days would cost us $1040.

Real-Distribution32

Wow I didn't even think of doing that, I'll definitely look into it. Thanks!

Artwebb1986

I usually always go beginning of May, but with express you could do every ride in both parks in one day if you really wanted to.

crowd79

I wonder if Universal will ever end this loophole. Seems too easy to take advantage of vs paying individually.

Mat_Cauthons_Hat_

It isn’t a loophole, it’s one of the perks.

crowd79

Yeah true

MattAU05

I would be unlikely to pay the big premium that you pay for the premier resorts if they didn’t have Express included. Sapphire Falls, Adventura, and Cabana Bay are all really nice, and each have benefits. All at much cheaper prices. Their premier bookings would dip if they ever removed that. But I’m sure they wouldn’t even consider it.

Weiene

You could probably get it done without express, especially if you use single rider.

triathletereddituser

I’m here now and a single rider. Heading to the park in a few hours for when it opens. Never been before, don’t have tickets yet, and have no idea what I’m doing or what to expect! How does being a single rider benefit? (Haven’t been to a theme park since I was a kid so no idea at all)

Weiene

single riders usually have way shorter waits on most attractions (exceptions being hagrids and velocicoaster) sometimes the waits are so short you miss the whole queue! I recommend checking out forbidden journey’s queue in full with normal standby since youve never seen it before! Have a fun trip dude!

triathletereddituser

The single riders queues have been awesome! Walked straight onto loads of rides this morning. I’m doing islands of adventure tomorrow then no plans yet for the rest of the week. Can you do a couple of Disney parks in one day? I want to do the magic kingdom and Epcot. Are they doable in a day? I could have done universal and islands of adventure in one day really. Would have been a lot cheaper too.

Weiene

Sadly no, they have way less single rider options (only 4 in the whole resort, 1 in epcot, none in magic kingdom). Plus the lines are usually more crowded than universals. I would recommend a day per park, especially since they both have new coasters you need to wake up at 6 am to go in a virtual queue for.

triathletereddituser

Thanks for the info! Mega helpful. Which park would you recommend? Someone told me today Epcot and Hollywood are really close to each other, so could do both in a day. But I’m not what that would be cost wise. Would you recommend Epcot or magic kingdom if you were just doing one? I got so motion sick at universal today and still have a ticket for islands of adventure. But is magic kingdom more Disney and tourist experience than Epcot? I’m here till Friday night.

Weiene

a park hopper day between epcot and studios would be possible, I just usually see high wait times for studios but right now they dont seem bad, but be cautious about it. Youd probably only be able to hit the main rides of both, and miss out on epcots world pavillion most likely. If you were to only do one, Magic kingdom usually feels like the most complete park compared to the rest in disney. however if you live near disneyland for example, most of the rides there are pretty similar to magic kingdoms, so epcot wins for uniqueness. Id say if this is your once in a lifetime, magic kingdom at least. it really depends on what you like though! id recommend to do a little research on what park and rides youd vibe with!

triathletereddituser

Thank you so much! Again! I’m going to use my islands of adventure ticket tomorrow morning. Which I may regret! But I’m thinking as the weather doesn’t look great tomorrow it might be the better day for another park with rides that are likely to make me feel motion sick. I’m in my hotel room now and feel like I’m swaying. I’m stashed up on painkillers and anti sickness pills. I’ll have time to maybe go play that adventure crazy golf in the evening. Then Wednesday spend all day at Epcot, and possibly studios. Taking it easy, enjoying the sun, take time to sit down and relax. Then decide Thursday morning whether I want to do another park or not. This is kind of a once in a lifetime, as I’ll never come back here, but plan to do other big holidays to americas national parks in the future. I don’t feel I’ll have any desire to come back here after this, bur so glad i made it out here to tick this off my bucket list. I haven’t been on holiday in almost 7 years and i mostly do nature/scenic/walking holidays.

Weiene

definitely dont overdo yourself! i know from experience the worst trips are the ones where you cram too much in. from what i can see in weather tomorrow it seems clear, so do with that as you will. I will say islands has a lot less simulators, so less motion sickness, and especially so with epcot, the only bad ride there being guardians (and maybe soarin?). good luck with tomorrow, hopefully you are able to hit up islands tomorrow its great!

triathletereddituser

Thanks 🙂 I’m just sat in islands of adventure now waiting for the rides to open for everyone. The early access holders have been in since 8 and I overheard someone say hagrids was crazy busy already. Debating whether to go do that first and get it over and done with or save it till last and just read my kindle while queuing.

Real-Distribution32

Is single rider worse than the normal line on velocicoaster and hagrids?

Weiene

for hagrids ive seen it be either shorter, same wait or longer, really just depends on the time/crowds. i have even seen them close it if it gets longer than standby. if its inside/almost inside then i think itd be fine, otherwise use normal standby for more ac and a more consistent moving line. for velocicoaster i dont know well, id say ask the team members for that. maybe just use standby for that for a similar reason of hagrids (and picking your row). however i think all single rider is covered there so thats fine.

kyzillss

We bought it Saturday last minute before we started our day, without it, we wouldn’t have been able to even get to the other park. Worth it, imo.

outside-is-better

2-4 rides per hour vs .5 to 1. It’s a nasty habit though! It’s worth it on holiday weeks.

Dafukyawant

Do you think I could survive a trip week after Christmas with express unlimited or would it be overly crowded and stressful?

outside-is-better

If you have express you can do almost any week except Spring Break. Xmas is easy. We spent the last two Xmas days’ at Universal and days before and after. September is a good time to go as well.

Dafukyawant

Thank you!!!
