I don’t think these names do well trying to have a new franchise in Utah. It implies Utah isn’t home. Like, the exact opposite of what a team name based in a specific location should want.
Sounds cool but basically sends the message that Utah isn't their home either and that they will be onto another city soon. Probably not the way to make them feel like a "home" team.
Plus, it opens the door for all the Utah Lost Boys stuff.
Would have to take a pass on this one.
I posted a few a week ago, not great but they had some history tied to them, Utah Trappers, Utah Nomads, Utah Nimrods. Not great ones I confess.
Trappers and Nomads aren't bad. Nimrods was for S and G's.
I would love to see the state bring Trappers back. Fond childhood memories of going to Trappers games at Derks Field. I still have a bat signed by the whole team that I got in like 1988 lol. Plus I think it has a nice ring to it and has some local history.
I'm personally still a fan of the Utah Phoenix.
Yes I'm aware of the knife turning nature of the name but hear me out.
The Phoenix is reborn of the ashes of its old self. Kind of fitting for this specific franchise.
Also, think of the colour palate/logos
Just my 2 cents but I'm a firm believer in it
Gonna go with a hard pass on that one...
Why mess with karma at this point? If Utah went that direction, it basically be like flipping the bird to the entire fanbase that got left in AZ, including those that bled for that team in the desert for almost 30 yrs. I also don't think the NHL would let it slide either.
Let's try to think in the positive. Especially for those of us coming over as a transplant/Yotes refuge (me included). It wouldn't sit well.
Nomads has a dope feel and sound. Not too cookie cutter. Can't believe I'm going here, but given the states history with mormanism, Nomad fits. Nomads has some parallel context with the NHL franchise its inheriting as well.

Utah Relocators
Utah Gonads
Just Nads, so the fans can chant “Go, Nads, Go!”
Love that
Salt Lake Stampede
I got no stake in this except as a hockey fan, but Wanderers sounds pretty good to me
I actually really dig that.
Utah Salty Adventurers
Nomads feels pretty good. I would avoid reusing Wanderers.
Utah Rock

Roamers/Wanderers/Nomads/Vagabonds. Call them what you will.
Utah Roma Gypsies

I love the Utah wanderers. Probably due to my history of nomadic behavior and bad diet.

One time I pooped so hard on a Jamaican cruise line the ship capsized and there were 100 casualties.
I like Nomads a lot.
