Define "warm" and "cold" for you. Having grown up in Southern California, "warm" doesn't even begin for me until temps are at least 22°C. Below 10° is cold.
It’s funny, I grew up in So Cal too, and I think if my kid self could see what adult me wears when it’s 13 degrees out here he’d contract time travelling hyporhermia.
This was the missing info we needed to answer your question before. Since that is a tropical climate, no, you will not find the weather "favorable" in Victoria in May.
You can probably expect day temps between 8C and 16C, and depending on where you are it might be windy. Weather can be unpredictable, rainy one moment and then warm and sunny the next - it's good to layer up or bring a rain jacket if you're planning to be out all day.
Lol oh pleeeeaase, atleast it's warm enough to rain
I've been there in February, I learned the hard way not to wear a Tshirt at night. Still I was flabbergasted by the ability and luxury
May is the beginning of the dry season in Victoria, so rainfall is usually quite light. Victoria averages 26 mm of rain during May. That's less than every major city in Canada during May.

It varies here in May. Could be very rainy on certain days, could be 20 degrees and sunny. Be prepared for rain and hope for sun
May is super nice here, still chance for some rain and not dry like it gets later into June-august
is it generally sunny though? and is it more warm or more cold

May is generally decent, but it can change at a moments notice. I would be prepared for both sun and rain. Dress in layers, etc.
