World Eaters if you limit the amount of gold.

RAMpageVII

Loyalist World Eaters aka War hounds or ultras, are the 2 choices.

Der_Spanier

As others said Ultramarines are 100% your best pick. White is a colour within that legion that is usually reserved for Veteran units and high ranking officers, so you could probably play a really cool Pride of the Legion list with that colourscheme. Veteran Squads as Troops, some Terminators, a squad of Invictarus Suzerain, a fancy pimped out Praetor, etc.

Noto_boil

I was thinking heavy on the powder blue, with light and gold accent. Maybe I could reverse that a bit for termies and vets as you mention above. I guess majority powder blue people would recognize as UM? Also, how do new mk3 fit for UM?

Colton132A

id say mk3 works well for Ultramarines, they aren’t one of the legions more well known for one armor over the other (unless you count mk4 for efficiency)

JudasBrutusson

Just be careful about the reversal; the World Eaters are White and Blue in 30k Remember: Friendly Fire Isn't

Noto_boil

So mostly powder blue some gold and some white would work for UM?

PGyoda

lol I see a fellow 30k/NFL fan. I wanted to paint some marines like the bengals but the tiger stripes are intimidating

PmMeSpriteZeros

OG Salamanders!

PGyoda

yep, that’s what I was thinking. or create my own 40k chapter but i’m really not into primaris or the lack of options in 10th

Kahnfight

Really want to make a Jacksonville jaguars scheme

CalypsoCrow

Same, I’ve tried to think of something matching the Ravens

PGyoda

the obvious choice seems like raven guard, and then you could fit some sweet Edgar allen poe references in there

CalypsoCrow

Eh the RG are really only black and white, the only purple and yellow legions/chapters I know about are Emperor’s Children and the Soul Drinkers, but SD come later

PGyoda

right, but a main coat of black with purple highlights or even a purple tinge on the black could look really brilliant for RG

CalypsoCrow

That’s not a bad idea, I’ll definitely consider that! Thanks!

PGyoda

good luck friend they’ll look fantastic whatever you choose 👍

Kahnfight

Dark purple tho with white and black could work

Nuclearsunburn

40k Ultramarines make me think “Indianapolis Colts space warfare division”

PGyoda

no doubt lol. they’ve basically got the logo already

fluffy_warthog10

That's similar to the personal heraldry of Ultramarine Chapter Master Lucretius Corvo during the Heresy, and when the Legion was broken he used it for the colors of his new Chapter the [Novamarines.](https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Novamarines) Of course, during the Heresy they'd simply wear blue and gold, but you could probably stretch that your dudes are the proto-Novamarines.

ScreamingMidgit

Either Ultramarines or War Hounds (aka World Eater's pre-Angron)

Swanky4Life

Ultramarines are your only real choice here

redbadger91

No, world eaters are another.

revlid

World Eaters and Ultramarines are the two most obvious choices - it'd be a company variant for Ultramarines, with white legs.

PossibleMarsupial682

Ultramarines.

Noto_boil

OP here: Thanks for all comments. In thinking I am most attached to the powder blue, I could lose the gold and white. Not sure if that opens up legions other than WE/UM. Not likely to go WE as I am playing them in Limp and my current army is assault focused.

[deleted]

Supermarines Not quite ultra, just super Or pre-heresy World Eaters if you want the serious answer.

Noto_boil

Why pre heresy world eaters? Were they majority blue versus heresy WE that were majority white?

[deleted]

Post heresy they just stopped washing their armor from the blood so they were mostly red after that/changed to red because it's Khorne's colour.

shockfire2012

Pre Angron the World Eaters were called the War Hounds, and yes, they were blue with white shoulder pads.

Noto_boil

oh dope, cheers

Noto_boil

found this [https://youtu.be/H23jtaUN-Qg?si=qoyqrILQi21LOd2V](https://youtu.be/H23jtaUN-Qg?si=qoyqrILQi21LOd2V) Now I am torn

shockfire2012

Ultramarines are straight and narrow, Warhounds had slightly loose morals and were known for their brutality in close combat, if that helps.

Noto_boil

Warhounds definitely match better color wise as their blue is lighter, but not sure I want to play another charge focused army and I do like the sword and board aesthetic of UM

Dezmosis1218

World Eaters just because they always be Chargin'

The_Abortion_Wizzard

Ultramarines

Perfect_Eggplant_377

White scars, lightning thingy might fit

OrionTheAboveAverage

Honestly that could work well, like possibly White Scars deep sea combat units? Have them adopting the camouflage as a new color scheme thinking that their legion has been splintered due to the ruinstorm cutting them off from the main Imperium and traitor forces trying to convince them that their primarch has already joined their cause?

Tough_Topic_1596

Ultramarines or World Eaters that’s about it

interimeclipse

Blue, white, and gold? Ultramarines. Only answer

Noto_boil

Seems to be the winner, although I am looking at a sky blue

gfrancovitch

Man I feel like you could make this work with pre magnus thousand sons

monjio

Novamarines are a second founding successor Chapter of Ultramarines and would've been present in the Legion during the Heresy.

Noto_boil

Cheers is there any lore or fluff on them that I could explore?

monjio

Quite a bit, I recommend starting with their entry on Lexicanum.

highdensitywall

Pre Magnus Thousand sons or ultramarines

Magnus753

World Eaters?

No_Raccoon_9709

World War eaters if you are looking at any unit in the great crusade/heresy, as warhounds were white with blue detail and world eaters are white with blue detail, so maybe these are a transition force . Ultramarines if you want more elite units as white tends to be ultramarines elites colour

Extension_Turnip2405

Think you meant blue with white detail for Warhounds

mycathasyelloweyes

Ultramarines for sure. Though if you want a thematic choice I’d go for one of the legions who always seem to lose no matter what… (fellow 30k player and Chargers fan!)

Noto_boil

😂

CL38UC

The problem is needing to restrict it to 30K. The Lamenters would map so well to the Chargers.

No_Direction_4566

Could possibly get away with Alpha Legion, but best bet would be Ultramarines or World Eaters

millmonkey

2nd or 11th

Noto_boil

Their legion traits and RoW any good?😉

millmonkey

So good their unheard of

Lord-Uglor

Depending on the timeframe (and you didn’t specify loyalist or traitor), Thousands Sons seems the perfect choice. Just my 2¢

Sondergame

What? Thousand sons are candy red and gold in 30k. Wtf are you talking about?

Lord-Uglor

Didn’t they go to blue and gold at the end of the Heresy? They certainly are for 40k.

Sondergame

So you don’t even know. You just default to “late heresy” talk. The Thousand Sons changed their colors after Ahriman cast the Rubric - long after the Heresy. It’s covered in the Ahriman books. The OP clearly wanted legion canon colors. They specifically asked for that.

Noto_boil

Glad you mentioned that cause it was something I was wondering. Sounds like from the friendly comments below it's a bit too late for heresy..

PGyoda

yea I thought the same. that’s what they look like in rubric form it’s fair to imagine there could’ve been a company already painted that way

Sondergame

They changed their colors after Ahriman cast the rubric. It’s covered in the Ahriman books. Also, the OP specifically requested legion canon color schemes and NOT “my guys.” So your just willfully ignoring an important aspect of what they were asking for.

PGyoda

it seems like a reasonable lore connection to me, I don’t think it’s really that serious

thedreadwoods

Go play 40k I reckon if you want to play fast and loose with lore. It's a really well established game and really allows for that

Noto_boil

TS did seem like a logical step to me.
