I think it will be a mix of this and a bit bigger releases, depending on the army. CSM as an example, doesn't actually have mostly just new models (except Bikers), so a single character seems right.
But for other armies like World Eaters this might be an opportunity to give a second wave of units - after all, they really don't have much. Or armies like Orks that have so many extremely old models for core units, might get a bit more than just one.
Smart money says we get two aspect warriors and their Phoenix Lords as redoes, a la Maugan Ra and Jain Zar last edition.
My heart's set on Swooping Hawks and a new Baharroth.
Rumours apparently are that Striking Scorpions plus exarch will be released in an upcoming killteam box… So hopefully the Phoenix lord not long after/before

World eaters and votann definitely, hopefully some more expansion for thousand sons too. The rest could use one or two unit updates, like new tankbustas or warp spiders
I'd be surprised if there wasn't a Krootox for the Tau, to go with the new Kroot from Kill team.
Orks are getting something with Shokk weapons given we've seen those in the rumour engine
I think single model releases are just fine, but it being characters is sometimes a bit of a shame, I'd prefer units or tanks/monsters. I already have more HQs than I could field lol
Can't wait for the Necron's Lokhusts and old C'tans to be finally updated, they really need it the most. Throw in some plastic characters to get rid of the failcast and we're all good to go.
Terminator Assault Squads seem likely. Though a part of me still almost expects that and new Genestealers to be a Kill team thing. Just seems too obvious.
I'm mostly just curious if we are getting updated Deathwing in spring. It seems weird for them to keep the old kits around now. Even a upgrade sprue would be a improvement.
They've already said that Primaris with jump-packs are coming, so I think there's a chance they come out with the SM codex. The multipart kits won't really be the "new units," I don't think, they'll just come out every now and then for a year or so after the box (if Indomitus/9E was any indication).
It's been nearly 9 years since Tau got a significant release. If the codex has been shown this early I guarantee its probably a single character the Kroot leader getting redone. Being a Tau fan is suffering right now. :( So the next hope will be during 11th ed way past 10 year mark by then.
It's starting to feel like a race on life support. Even their models are looking dated compared to modern gw stuff.
>Even their models are looking dated compared to modern gw stuff.
I find they aged really well. Feel free to disagree though, I'm not a Tau player and most people that are at my local game workshop know how to paint.
If they are going to do a major update, I just want them to take the whole "Multi xeno alliance" thing and run with it. Give me alien allies for the Tau to use. Bring back Zoats, Saharduin, those weird screaming manfish things.
Crisis Battlesuits are the iconic unit of the faction, and despite being on their second iteration, they're showing their age. The super boxy mack half if the torso is a really weird part of the design, especially when you put it side by side with the more streamlined Enforcer, which is pretty much an upscaled modernized take in the Crisis design.
Cries in Grey Knights. Outside of standard space marine vehicles, they have 3 kits to build your entire army with, and they’re all firstborn sized models at that. But yes, Eldar definitely need a range refresher.
Makes sense in a way. With the limited amount of datasheets for both factions and the theoretical ability to use most knights for both factions I think this would be a good change
I don't necessarily think that's true. Knights just don't have many datasheets, so it sort of make sense to put them together, rather than having a datasheet pack with like, six cards in it.
Surely rule creep won’t be a problem with the rules for every faction releasing day one. The only thing I could see creeping is the new models they said would come with each codex.
A bit of a slow start for 2023 with only four codexes, but five more by spring of next year is solid. Hopefully they can keep up a high release rate and not leave some armies waiting for 3 years again.
It gives me some peace to think that Space marines and Nids will be meta for about 6 months tops, before codex creep, the ultimate predator consumes them all.
It is an interesting release order, almost as if they are paired against each other:
Marines vs Nids
Mechanius vs Necrons
Orks vs Dark Angels
Tau vs Chaos Marines
Will each release be a dual boxset, too?
I was pondering that.
Currently, there are 22 codexes going in 10th, and we are expecting Emperors Childern to be released this edition, making 23; so someone would be the odd one, and it make sense that the golden boys have a single release as they have the small range. It was quick and easy release.
Unless they are getting a massive range addition (stuff currently made by FW made in plastic?) and none of the others, outside Marines and nids are getting more than a single new figure
I'd expect most FW stuff stays where it is. There is a huge aesthetic gap between the FW vehicles and plastic ones. The terminators and bikes kits have at least some overlap (in role/function) with datasheets that already have plastic models.
The Venetari (jump pack troops) are the only ones I'd realistically see moving to the modern range as their current datasheet.
The vehicles I could see getting entirely new models to fill the role, potentially as part of a Sisters of Silence expansion. Maybe a new dedicated transport for Custodes.
This is ignoring the dreadnoughts, which I'd rather not get the legion specific Contemptor treatment.
custodes don't have a faction rival. their entire shtick is bodyguarding the emperor and then only recently with guilliman acting as a force in the galaxy.
This is why everyone made fun of the custodes vs GSC box because lorewise the GSC gets wiped everytime by those golden bois lol.
Chaos Marines don't really fit as a faction rival for Tau. The only major engagement they had with them was with the Death Guard. I'd much more easily pick Guard, Orks, or loyalist Marines (especially one of the chapters that participated in the Damocles Crusade, or the Ultramarines since they're right next door).
Some new lore to potentially make them rivals would be welcome. Because so much of 40k revolves around the imperium I tend to find the conflicts they aren't involved in the most interesting; special nods here to Eldar vs Chaos and Orks vs Tyranids.
Rules come and go (seriously, it’s so cyclical it’s not even funny) but I’m just hoping that admech get a new release of some kind. Even if it’s just the single sprue character that GW gave a bunch of factions as their sole update these past few years.
Can we at least get real ebook codexes again? I can’t stand having to have paper of everything, especially when I move every couple of years. The app is in no way a substitute, especially since it’s just aimed at phones.
Im gonna be a bit more positive on this, then many of the people in here are. This is still better, then 8th to 9th edition, becouse we all have the same starting point this time around. And if the world eater codex is any indication, codex might just be a overhaul of your army rules.
I think codex's might be, on average, less about total overhaul of the army but instead more detachments and new ways to play. For sure there'll be changes, and some armies might be waiting on a codex to get a full 10th ruleset (I worry about armies like TSons that will need a new mechanic since their current cabal point stuff doesn't work eith anything psychic), but I think we'll see less total overhauls like 9th Nids or Guard.
My brother and I are wondering if the codexes will even technically be required to play. At least the Tyranids and marines seem to be in what I'd call a 9th edition-ish state, at least with the gladius strike force. So I could see it being the case that the index contains the "generic" detachment for each army, e.g. your ultramarines, tau Sept, cadian equivalents that can make use of most units in the dex well enough.
Then the codex would have the printed copy of that + all the specialized detachments + any new models. This would give a new player a slower ramp into the game, where they don't need the upfront tax of a codex to just try an army, similar to what they are planning with combat patrol.
So the progression path for someone new to a faction would be combat patrol with it's integrated rules, pick up some more models and mess around with the army at ~1k pts, then get the dex. This might seem altruistic on gdubs part, and while it kinda is, it also lines up with them making the game easier to adopt, along with free core rules, and restructuring the game to be easier to pickup and play with the new grand tournament packs, super simple core mission, unit cards, and just general focus on ease of use over previous editions.
And if they do end up tweaking the core functions of an army with it's codex, they can update the codex.
Tl;Dr: what we've seen so far seems more fleshed out than previous index hammer + there is incentive for gdubs to make the rules possible to ease into by making the codices more of a highly recommended rules supplement and not mandatory for an army
I think a lot of people are definitely missing this. It’s not ideal but it’s at least an improvement, especially since as we’ve seen with Killteam a lot of the index factions could well hold their own weight for a while.
It all depends on how the Indexes are but this really annoys me. We will once again have armies that lag behind the rest for probably the better part of a year (and that's being generous).
My hope is the indexes are good enough that we don't get major power creep. The way they seem to be doing it is that the "main" detachment is going to be highly functional. I expect a lot of the alternatives to be weirder and more out there.
People don't want that (from whats being said here), They want all of their RULES up front, not being at a year or more disadvantage while other factions get more detatchment bonuses and options. By all means delay the codexes, but get the damn rules written.
Would be nice if they could do a few additional index detachments over time for some of the later codexes to tide them over. Like maybe the initial index is a shooty version of the army and later on white dwarf has a stabby version.
I'm pretty much brand new to this but how are you meant to get excited for 10th when the rules for any faction you're interested in isn't going to come out for a year
And all because they can't let go of printing books to sell. Even though the books get rapidly outdated (sometimes even before release) and they create an extra supply chain headache getting them shipped from China. I really wish they'd move into the 21st century and make all the rules freely available online. Heck put them into the Warhammer+ subscription if they're determined to charge for them. Improve the game and people will buy more miniatures, and people will spend the money they're wasting on half worthless books on minis and paint instead.
Do we know if the datasheets are going to *stay* free once the codices supercede them, though?
It'd be awesome if they did, but I'd assumed that GW was just releasing the indexes for free before making us buy the codexes again when they're released.
As an ork player I'll be fine, but this is tragic, all primary factions should have a codex in a new edition before they start doing sub factions i.e Dark Angels has no business getting a codex before Guard, Eldar etc since they will already be running an 11th codex via the space marines one while other factions are stuck on indexs. I reckon I'll eat some downvotes for this opinion but imo you're pretty selfish if you think it's fair for you to get two codex releases in an edition before another faction get's one.
>since they will already be running an 11th codex via the space marines
Actually, it seems that no, they won't. They seem to be a fully separate faction in 10th with their own Index and eventually Codex, not dependent on the Space Marine one. Similar to Tsons or Grey Knights.
Theory: all the codexes listed have mostly modernised models already, so don’t need tons of releases, only a handful per book at most. So they’re rushing through the “easy to release” armies first, and then will slow down to release large range-refresh armies later.
So for a made-up example, summer 2024 will focus on Eldar with a ton of refreshed models, autumn will focus on Emperor’s Children with a new range, Winter will focus on Blood Angels with Primaris versions etc.
That’s my hopium take anyway!
Edit: a lot of people noticed that the World Eaters codex was quite cut down… maybe that was so it could be ported to 10th edition easily? The indexes for WE (and maybe Imperial Guard and Votann???) might basically be copy paste updates of their codexes, so there’s no immediate need for a new codex or model releases? (Huffing the hopium deeply)
I definitley think that the weird dual subfaction system for World Eaters was a prototype version of detachments, so hopefully they could port it over fairly rapidly.
Votann are almost certainly getting new models, not least of the with the jetpack thingies they're getting in the new Kill Team.
World Eaters on the other hand could benefit from expanding their range from the CSM codex as a stopgap, especially with HQs and Fast Attacks. I would take more CSM models for WE over getting more new WE models.
That's because the AoO story is being left on the cliff hanger to focus on the 4th Tyrannic war which is happening more or less concurrently.
I am guessing we will return to AoO around the later half of 10ed at the earliest outside of a novel about the Lion or smth
Honestly I think World Eater codex will more or less be intact.
Units will get balanced of course, but I think very little in how the beta-detachments work will change.
They could have just pushed it back into early 10th then. Seems silly that I'll have a codex for about 4-5 months before I have to wait another 5 years probably.
If what they said in the stream is true and each codex release will get new models for the chosen faction, GW could be planning to get the eldar a second wave of updates to give them the other Phoenix Lords and their respective aspect warriors.
Have we gotten any info on what the actual content of the codices will be? If the SM and Nid codices are coming out more or less the same time as the indexes, isn’t it fair to assume they won’t bring huge rule changes?
Am I in the minority who wishes it was every 5 years so all the Codex's could come out after 3 years and then you have a while to have everyone play on the same "level"?
Lol half of these comments are people complaining about getting their codex too early and the other half are people complaining that they have to wait for theirs 🤦🏻♂️
It really shows just how many new people we have in the hobby. If you've been around for a couple of editions this should be absolutely nothing surprising.
It also really shows how no matter what GW does, people won't be happy.
It's no wonder GW basically just plough on doing what they usually do, because they know that they're pissing some people off that way, but if they change it, they'll just piss other people off.
so I see nothing has changed for codexes, you can still wait half of the edition for your faction's book but at leat they some of them will get a range refresh.....................
This is what I was worried about. This will be the new source of imbalance for 10th edition. Everyone gets ONE detatchment type for their army at index launch and then some factions have to wait as much as a year or more to get more options in a codex. If your faction rule and detachment rule are weak or dont match your current army units well you are screwed for a year. Or you have to buy a load of new units (which is probably the idea here).
Everyone will have a basic set of rules at the edition launch, so you can still play the game. Specialized rules will come later with the appropriate codex launch.
You'll be able to use them straightaway when 10th launches, everyone gets index rules to begin with then they'll get some specialisations when their codexes launch. All armies will be playable with free rules from Day 1.
Also, welcome to the Brotherhood, fellow Son of Titan!
Sorry if I got confused, but I thought they were getting rid of different space marine chapters in place of Detachments? But are they just doing that for the core chapters like Ultramarines, Raven Guard etc and still going to keep separate stuff for Dark Angels/Blood Angels and so on?
Smaller sub chapters like iron hands and salamanders that got books in 8th will be detachments. The big seperate chapters that have a heap of different units will get codexes (blood angels, dark angels, space Wolves, and grey knights)
Yeah, i wanted sisters early too :(
On the upside; if they continue with the "new models with each codex" we have some hope for a bikers unit or a cool flyer?
Interesting that Dark Angels are listed as a Codex and not a Codex *Supplement*, wonder if this means they’ll be treated more as their own faction and no longer have access to the full range of units in the Space Marine Codex but instead be limited to only what is in their own codex (like they do with World Eaters, Thousand Sons, Death Guard). Personally I’d be ok with that as it would allow the more divergent chapters (DA, BA, SW, etc.) to be more unique, while also making them easier to balance. For example would no longer have to worry about the domino effect of nerfing a certain unit because it’s too strong with DA rules but then making that unit *too weak* for say Imperial Fist since they would no longer “share” units from the SM Codex.
The glacial pace of the new codexes makes me nervous. Ive had a Death Guard army I've wanted to play since Covid and the power creep of these book is infamous. Hope they maintain that the rules will be available online.
Honestly ? Its very much possbile that they will release them towards the end of 10th edition as they did with World Eaters in 9th. So you might wait for a while. With that said it seems almost certain the they will come at some point. (Including Fulgirm)
This all comes down to how usable the index cards and free faction rules are, and how often those items get updated. If the index cards and faction rules for factions without a codex boil down to "here's some shit to get you by until we release a codex" and don't get updated, then this is going to be slog for whatever army is getting their codex last.
Either way, even if each army has great rules until their codex, GW's delays and delays in 9th meant codex's for guard and world eaters released and had a couple months to play before they announced 10th.
This might be unpopular but I wish they'd just move everything online and cut out physical codex's so that they don't have to worry about printing outdated books. Then they could easily update armies with new models and datasheets throughout an edition instead of going "Ok Necrons are in winter, that means they get 2-3 new units/models for the entire edition, right off the bat, and then nothing for the next 3 years." If they did it all online they could release content for an army whenever they wanted, just update the rules site with the new data sheet and let people go buy the plastic crack.
Please GW please dont have major restrictions on cultist units on the indexs/CSM codex. As a LATD enjoyer having to take a squad of legionnaires for every cultist type unit is miserable. I'm fine with max 3 squads of every type but I want to play a fluffy cultist traitor guard force led by a CSM leader with some daemon engines sprinkled in
Ive been into warhammer since 2000 but I bought my first army back in 2020 and have over 3000 points of grey plastic with literally 1 kitbashed Plaguecast painted....I also have an entirely unbuilt night lords army.
I've been dealing with a hectic life and depression so i havnt made any progress in almost 3 years.
I made it a goal to finish my deathguard for tenth but that kept feeling so daunting.
Now with CSM(my real love) being in sight but not as close....if I can just finish my deathguard by spring 2024, I've done good and I can use that experience and accomplishment to attack my real dream army with a fervor and a codex.
I truly feel invigorated right now and this is awesome!
If the faction doesn't just disappear. It's the least played and is probably too complicated to represent with 1 faction rule and 1 detachment rule. NB: Not a good thing, I play cults.
So I only started this year with the hobby and haven’t made much in roads yet but I’m really confused as to why the codexes aren’t all releasing at the same time with the start of the new edition?
How does this even work in a tournament setting if one faction has a bunch of extra rules but the other does not?
Maybe I’m getting it wrong and there isn’t much to them except for nicely styled data sheets and lore building. My half knowledge of 9th rules and the changes with 10th might be muddying the waters 🤷♂️
This has always been the case with 40k. Heck, there were times when some factions would not get a codex for an entire edition. So it was not unusual to play in say 6e with a 4e codex with FAQs and erratas. It wasn't until 8e that the core rules got reworked so much that it was no longer viable to carry over with 7e codices.
That's also why calling the tournament scene "competitive" is laughable - the release model that GW uses is so inherently unbalanced that it has little to do with healthy competition, and is more about the flavour of month.
Confirmed in the stream: Each new Codex shown here will come with "some new miniatures". No indication how many, but that's still quite exciting!
Probably how AoS has been doing it, most will probably get a single character. But you never know, could be something more exciting!
That's also how 8th and 9th ed 40k worked. Most codexes came with a new character, with the occasional bigger release thrown in here and there.
I’m almost 100% Eldar get a second wave of revamped models
Oh god I hope so, I'm so desperate for new Warp Spiders, Fire Dragons and Swooping Hawks.
Smart money says we get two aspect warriors and their Phoenix Lords as redoes, a la Maugan Ra and Jain Zar last edition. My heart's set on Swooping Hawks and a new Baharroth.

Probably just Grey Knight Copium, but I asm hoping that since our codex isnt listed we just get truescale GKs...
Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment

Depends on the army. Drukhari for example have very little in the way of HQ options. Other armies have SO freaking many
5 of the 6 factions I play slated for spring 2024, better start saving money now
Seeing Space Marines, Necrons & Custodes being among the first ones out, I feel your pain!
Can't wait for the Necron's Lokhusts and old C'tans to be finally updated, they really need it the most. Throw in some plastic characters to get rid of the failcast and we're all good to go.
Give me a new nightbringer or give me death
There's an unrevealed rumor engine that's almost certainly Necron, which suggests this update could be an actual second wave
Yup i think it has been guessed as being Orikhan, but personally I hope for Anakyr
Terminator Assault Squad and Chaplain in terminator Armour for SM?
Terminator Assault Squads seem likely. Though a part of me still almost expects that and new Genestealers to be a Kill team thing. Just seems too obvious. I'm mostly just curious if we are getting updated Deathwing in spring. It seems weird for them to keep the old kits around now. Even a upgrade sprue would be a improvement.

Brothers, let's mourn together our limited ~~product range~~ equipment variety provided by Deimos.
Crisis Battlesuits are the iconic unit of the faction, and despite being on their second iteration, they're showing their age. Yea, I'm hoping we get truescale GK ... Crowe looks so good.
??? What are you crying about? Eldar just got new sculpts last year...
At least Piper Makes is releasing good models for Tau.
Tangentially related, did anyone snag a screenshot of the faction "index cards" spread?
[Here.](https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/832649952471285841/1101789977760776192/rip.png?width=2250&height=1262)
Oh, no chaos knights. Guess they're just gonna be rolled into knight households?
Oh, that's interesting. Yeah, the knight deck looks like it has loyalist and chaos symbols in the lower left
Makes sense in a way. With the limited amount of datasheets for both factions and the theoretical ability to use most knights for both factions I think this would be a good change

Now hyped. They have an “Imperial Agents” set
I so want to make an inquisitor led army like we used to be able to!
I want that for Kill Team more, but I'm still hype for big 40k.
I mean the Arks of Omen literally ends with a mass mobilization of Inquisition assets, so I expect it to become a full army.
Seeing "Imperial Agents" using the art for the Rogue Trader - Elucidian Strarstriders is exciting.
Thanks!
Early Necron codex... Deja Vu, I've just been in this place before...
Look, if they just make the Doomsday Cannon actually good this time, it'll all be worth it.
d6 damage still exists in 10th sad ddark noises
Hey at least lascannons appear to be d6***+1*** now :)))
I'll take anything at this point🥲
Surely rule creep won’t be a problem with the rules for every faction releasing day one. The only thing I could see creeping is the new models they said would come with each codex.
8th edition started with index for all, quickly crept with codex releases…

*Guard player nervousness intensifies*
Can't wait to see our new book in... 2025.
don't be optimistic, 2027
Right before 11e!
It gives me some peace to think that Space marines and Nids will be meta for about 6 months tops, before codex creep, the ultimate predator consumes them all.
And that dedicated transport spam will have only 9 months of fun before Tau comes to wreck their party
*laughs in Devilfish* Why not partake in it as well while blowing up theirs?
You read my mind
Nah, that's pessimistic. 2025 is also when 11th will launch :D
When 11th edition comes out a few months after
You right, you right.
3 months before 11 edition is released with a back-to-index reset
You're in the guard son...the emperors angels might get all the fancy news toys...we make do with old faithful, the trusty mk1 launch rules...
Chapter specific codex before Astra Militarum, Aeldari, Adeptus Sororitas. At least i can bet there are no new eldar kits coming before 2025.
It is an interesting release order, almost as if they are paired against each other: Marines vs Nids Mechanius vs Necrons Orks vs Dark Angels Tau vs Chaos Marines Will each release be a dual boxset, too?
I guess Custodes are forever alone?

The Octarius war had big "whoever wins, we lose" vibes.
Nah it's about time Team Greater Good got to experience the ***Greater Evil***.
Tau vs Orks for Farsight and Dark Angels vs Chaos Marines for the Lion returning make more sense no?
Isn't a big thing in Arks of Omen is that Chaos is fighting the Tau atm?
Oh no. Admech early codex
Oh no - Necron early codex *again*??
But hey, new models maybe? I'd love to see the refresh completed, and to get new models for the Lokust Destroyers and Nightbringer.
Can’t lie, I wish my faction had a early codex
Rules come and go (seriously, it’s so cyclical it’s not even funny) but I’m just hoping that admech get a new release of some kind. Even if it’s just the single sprue character that GW gave a bunch of factions as their sole update these past few years.
They said each of these will also release with new models.
AdMech really need some more Cult Mechanicus units. Would love to see more types of robots or some representation from the Myrmidons!
It baffles me that they haven’t released Myrmidons/Thanatar and other cool stuff from FW
Definitely, the Thanatar is a great looking model.
Delightful news, thanks for the correction. Now I’ll go to hoping it’s anything but another Skitarii model haha
I **need** that monstrosity they put on the 9th edition cover
There is so much in 30K Forge World resin that I would love to see in GW plastic that it hurts.
All of it, my friend. Literally all the Forge World Mechanicum kits would be amazing as GW plastic kits. And by all I of course mean the Thanatar.
The Thanatar is amazing of course. But I would pay good money for the Krios tanks.
Can we at least get real ebook codexes again? I can’t stand having to have paper of everything, especially when I move every couple of years. The app is in no way a substitute, especially since it’s just aimed at phones.

Winter 2030 Astra Militarum
Just in time for 11th
11th will be out Summer 2030
As a new player who went with the guard, sad Krieg noises :(
Im gonna be a bit more positive on this, then many of the people in here are.
I mean, didn't the 9th guard codex come out like 6 months before the announcement of 10th?
It wasnt tournament legal until feb even. Actual release in december. So 3 months before announcement.
My hope is the indexes are good enough that we don't get major power creep. The way they seem to be doing it is that the "main" detachment is going to be highly functional. I expect a lot of the alternatives to be weirder and more out there.
If they have all codexes done within 2years I’ll be surprised
Surprised there's nothing for Blood Angels considering the Dante release. I expected the non-codex compliment marines to get codexes pretty quick.
Indexhammer for a year for many of us then. I don't mind that, but this release model is archaic.
True, but if it is actually because of each faction getting some dedicated new models released then that softens the blow
How?! Just release the rules for everyone at the same time!
Logistically it’s likely incredibly difficult to get everyone their new models and new codexes at the same time
People don't want that (from whats being said here), They want all of their RULES up front, not being at a year or more disadvantage while other factions get more detatchment bonuses and options.
All the core rules and datasets will be free online
Do we know if the datasheets are going to *stay* free once the codices supercede them, though? It'd be awesome if they did, but I'd assumed that GW was just releasing the indexes for free before making us buy the codexes again when they're released.
Did we get a release date for 10e? Or is it just "summer"?
June, it's in the community article https://www.warhammer-community.com/2023/04/29/warhammer-40000-leviathan-whats-in-the-box/
Ah ok thanks! "... though all the rules – and the Crusade section – will be available separately soon after. "
Yay can't wait to wait another several years for my codex only for it to be useless after 3 months
The more things change, the more they stay the same.
Can't leave the Lion without rules for that long mate. Who do you think they are, Guard?
Yeah it was ridiculous how they did that in 9th, DeathWatch, SW,BA,DA all getting their supplement before Primary factions.
>since they will already be running an 11th codex via the space marines Actually, it seems that no, they won't.
Either like that, the imperial guard regimental tactics, and/or the rites of war from hh2.0, or a combination thereof would be my guess
\>Eldar then Slaanesh Seems like a logical direction to take things.
Wait so… the arks of omen storyline ends with people teleporting into the webway, and somehow there’s no Eldar codex for at least 2 years? God damnit
That's because the AoO story is being left on the cliff hanger to focus on the 4th Tyrannic war which is happening more or less concurrently. I am guessing we will return to AoO around the later half of 10ed at the earliest outside of a novel about the Lion or smth
Yep my thoughts too, probably in a years time it will be the next big narrative drive of books and releases, maybe the first new primarch of 10th
World Eater Players: Wait decades to be properly recognised with a codex. GW: Immediately deletes it.
Honestly I think World Eater codex will more or less be intact. Units will get balanced of course, but I think very little in how the beta-detachments work will change.
Yeah I'm kinda pissed that WE and Guard are not one of the first Codex's to be redone.
People would be mad about that too. There is no winning.
COVID messed up the timing on 9th. Made the back half very rushed because of the delays
They could have just pushed it back into early 10th then. Seems silly that I'll have a codex for about 4-5 months before I have to wait another 5 years probably.
not a single eldar book...
If what they said in the stream is true and each codex release will get new models for the chosen faction, GW could be planning to get the eldar a second wave of updates to give them the other Phoenix Lords and their respective aspect warriors.
I'll be dead before they ever update warp spiders.
At least space Marines get two books, yay
i guess it will be more than just two befor the rest factions get some...
Have we gotten any info on what the actual content of the codices will be? If the SM and Nid codices are coming out more or less the same time as the indexes, isn’t it fair to assume they won’t bring huge rule changes?
Gotta make sure the space marines get their two codexes in before major factions like Eldar right XD
Only two? I think at least 4 -5 before we even get one of our books.
Ooh, new custodes models… in a year
Prayer circle for plastic tanks and dreadnoughts
We’ll get a new HQ and we better be happy about it…
It will be that chaplain this time. For sure....
It'll be a sister unit from 30k thst doesn't have a model yet
How long does each edition typically last?
3 to 4 years.
Hey I'm new and was hoping to start with 10th with grey knights. Does this mean I'll have to wait till their codex comes out to use them in 10th??
Everyone will have a basic set of rules at the edition launch, so you can still play the game. Specialized rules will come later with the appropriate codex launch.
Grey knights will get Index (all rules and data sheets) for free at the start of 10th edition
What about sororitas?
Yeah, i wanted sisters early too :( On the upside; if they continue with the "new models with each codex" we have some hope for a bikers unit or a cool flyer?
If we get sisters cav I’m immediately building sisters.
My god I really want a SoB Thunderhawk type model.
Corvus blackstar or Nephilim Jetfighter for me :P
Did he say all these will have new models or just some of them? Was distracted
All :)
All. No indication if they will be new original models or perhaps a refresh(CMON KROOT).
My wait for Emperor's Children to be their own army continues
Honestly ? Its very much possbile that they will release them towards the end of 10th edition as they did with World Eaters in 9th. So you might wait for a while. With that said it seems almost certain the they will come at some point. (Including Fulgirm)
Sad eldar noises.
Two questions: 1. Can I get a link for this page? 2. Should I buy a ninth edition codex of Adeptus Soroitas?
I truly feel invigorated right now and this is awesome!
goddamnit the Astra Militarum codex isn't here
Can't wait for GSC new book! ....in 4 years time...
If the faction doesn't just disappear. It's the least played and is probably too complicated to represent with 1 faction rule and 1 detachment rule. NB: Not a good thing, I play cults.
Astra militarum cast adrift once again with Cadians as the only viable option, further behind in priority than custodes. What a fucking joke
They’re getting an index day one which might be totally different to the current codex, we don’t know yet.
Fuck off with the codexes!!!
You will buy the books and be happy about it.
I really hoped for a blood angels range refresh :( looks like I‘m gonna have to wait 1-2 years
