Yeah probably so, speaking of which, it reminds me of Iran and their f-14s, it amazes me they have any left running at this point.... But I guess they do prove that cannibalizing some to save the others does work for weirdly long periods of time.
lol, I haven't caught up on the news today, I knew there was a strike but I didn't know of what, so f-14's got hit I guess? I feel like that would hit Iran the hardest, because they have such old planes they are desperately trying to keep around so everyone you destroy is a major blow.
I am guessing the plane was just taxiing, and the landing gear "malfunctioned". Lucky the gear didn't malfunction during hi speed landing or taking-off.
Me in DCS. Though to be honest it's the damn F-15c that I apparently can't land without blowing the tires. At least with the F-22 I can touch down like a butterfly with sore feet, except not being very "mil-sim".
There are no production lines for the F22, same for parts (and iirc it doesn't have much part commonality with any other aircraft), so any damaged airframes are probably gone for good.
If this F22 can be repaired, it'll be done using parts from another (probably older) F22.
It's likely that the aircraft will be written off and used as a donor for other F22s.
The F35 exists because the F22 was astronomically expensive to produce, maintain and operate, and couldn't be sold to allied countries. The general consensus is that the F22 is the better jet, but the F35 has better datalinks and the USAF have decided that big data will be the most important part of the next conflict.

Point is parts and systems can fail no matter what the total cost of the aircraft. An A380 or B777 is a lot more expensive than an F-22, it still happens even with good regular maintenance.
The F-22 is pretty long in the tooth now. It was designed in the 80s and refined in the early 90s. Avionics in particular are quite inferior to the F-35. The NGAD program is developing a whole new aircraft to replace it, that is a better use of taxpayer dollars than reopening the F-22 production line.
I mean, it’s just assimilating to the Japanese culture and bowing as a sign of respect.
"Oh look a penny!"
Face down ass up is *not* recommended landing procedure it would seem.
That’ll be pricey
I just hope it can be fixed, f-22s are an endangered species, stuff like this speeds up their demise.
At the very least they can probably use it for spare parts for other F-22s.

They just got blown up lmao

Raptor really likes showing off those afterburners don't they?
Switching into this post from a dashcam compilation was... Interesting. "Let me guess, dude was flying down the road, right?"
Look how they massacred my boy

It's just doing a customary bow

I wish they'd re-open the production line for the F22 F35 doesn't quite cut-it.
