Anyone who’s seen the actually fights of greats and can get past their biases would agree. He was fast and powerful, great on his feet, durable. Dude would KO Fury in 2 rounds.
So good/fast - people stopped paying to see his fights. You order pay-per-view thinking youd get a night of entertainment and the fight would end in a heartbeat. You'd pay for premium seats at the actual fight and it'd be over by the time you got seated.

I still haven't seen anyone like Tyson. His combination of intensity, speed, power and precision are still unmatched by anyone. Such focused rage. I need to watch some yt highlights
Lol the fact that you think the Holyfield fights happened in Mike’s prime tell me you know nothing about his life/career. after drug addiction, after clinical mental illness, after prison, not in anywhere close to his best shape. Also he lost once and was DQd once in the third round…
All right, then. Buster Douglas? Was he not in his prime then? It's ridiculous how you all want to fantasy re-book fights that actually happened already, and make excuses for the man, when any of his shortcomings were his own doing, which is part of what makes a fighter great.
So, let me guess, on the right day at the right time if the wind was coming just from the south west at less than 10 mph, and poor old Mike Tyson had a good nights sleep the night before, he could've beat Holyfield? Get out.
You’re making it seem like I wasn’t extremely clear about the parameters of the thought exercise from the first comment… the fighter *at their best* lol there’s not magic or confusion here. Tyson had a bad fight with Douglas and the thing Ali has in spades over Tyson is heart. So when it’s NOT their best night, Ali wins every time, because Tyson couldn’t deal with adversity for shit.
You don't know much about Ali, then. Taller than Tyson with a longer reach. Waaaaay faster than Tyson and had a much longer career fighting against better opponents.
Never flipped out and bit anyone's ear off.
Tyson beat taller opponents with bigger reach all the time. It’s why he used the style he used. Ali was flashier and frankly, less efficient in his movement. Tyson’s head movement was the possibly greatest of all time but he’s not remembered for defense because of his knockout power. They were also almost opposite stylistically, Tyson the inside peekaboo fighter, relying on precision of head movement and fast counter punching, and Ali being a classic outside fighter, relying on his reach to keep distance and his speed to escape and get outside again. Honestly would have been a really interesting fight but I think Tyson stays out of trouble with his head movement and destroys Ali with his explosive hand speed. https://youtu.be/uYZzMPsm6c4
For the record I’m talking about heavyweights specifically. But no if you think Ali for instance was faster than Tyson, you are the one who is confused, especially hand speed. And Ali (who was fucking incredible btw, not calling him a hack) had long limbs and fought outside, but had traditionally awful defense, leaning away from his opponents most of the time instead of bobbing, relying on his ability to stay outside (super dangerous style). Tyson would have destroyed that style of defense, closed the gap with explosive hooks out of the shell.
The ear bite has nothing to do with the debate. You saying that shows your bias. It's hella boxers with similar reach and height of ali that Tyson ran through. Tyson is faster, stronger, hits harder and throws more punches. Ali is a ring general that can control the fight regardless of who is the aggressor. But he's said himself he never fought to injury anybody or knock anybody out if he didn't have to. He'd rather dance, look pretty and win on points. That doesn't mean he can't knock people out tho. If ali fought his fight he'd win by split decision. If he tried to go punch for punch it would be a 5th-7th round ko by Tyson.
If you don't understand that mental fortitude is like 50% of what it takes to be a great fighter then you have no business weighing in on this discussion because you don't know what you're talking about. Where do you think a fighter's heart comes from?
Do you know how much shit Ali talked to his opponents in and out of the ring? Ali would 100% have gotten into Tyson's head.
George Foreman punched harder than Tyson and Ali beat his ass
Lol sure now take it to mentally fortitude. Get off Ali's dick. Both Tyson and Ali took Ls in that boxing ring and both had "mental fortitude". For to downplay Tyson's mentality shows your bias. And foreman lost because of he got out classed in stamina and boxing IQ. Foreman hit harder yes of course. But he did not have the speed, IQ, foot work, head movement nor did he throw punches in bunches as well as Tyson did. Stop being bias.
Seems you don't know how Tyson deals with bigger guys. He's floored most of the bigger guys he fought against back in the day. Height really doesn't matter too much vs the young Tyson.
The closest we can get is that it's dumb idea to ever enter a ring with the professional boxer if you are not also a professional boxer. But I agree, not really something that fits here
People say this but if you compare their fights side by side then you’d see there is no comparison. Ali was fast but lacked power. He would hit people so many times and outlast them.
Tyson would bring the physicality that didn’t exist among athletes from Ali’s day. Tyson would absolutely destroy him.
And this is why I treat any boxer I meet with respect, they could easily go from nice person to guy who can beat my ass and leave me in a coma in 3 seconds, people got me scared shit less

Mike Tyson at his best was better than any other boxer at their best. I will die on that hill.

Broose Lee would kick his ass, they just never fought

Weird thing about being good at boxing.
He was a wrecking ball. I’m no boxing fan but even I was awed.
What about the Paul Brothers
Teddy Atlas would disagree . I think we all got robbed by not seeing Tyson (in shape) fight Lewis before it was all over for both of them.
I still haven't seen anyone like Tyson. His combination of intensity, speed, power and precision are still unmatched by anyone. Such focused rage. I need to watch some yt highlights
I think Butter Bean would have lasted a lot longer than that guy
Aad that we never really got to see his full skills on display. He fought almost nobodies. That's why I never even consider him in the Goat debate.
When he was in his prime he literally got beat by Evander Holyfield twice. Stop.
He said at his best, meaning not having snorted any lines beforehand.

Ali would have beat the shit out of Tyson
Haha, no.

Tyson's head movement was the greatest of all time? Wow. I'm done here. Some of you are clearly talking out of your butts

Ali actually said, Im fast, but if he’d hit me once Id be out

Just an entirely different engine man
Seems you don't know how Tyson deals with bigger guys. He's floored most of the bigger guys he fought against back in the day. Height really doesn't matter too much vs the young Tyson.
Ali himself said Tyson would beat him
And Tyson has said the opposite. Ali beat fighters who could punch harder than Tyson. Tyson never fought anyone nearly as dominant and great as Ali
1) Golden Rule: Links must contain a stupid idea and something going wrong. Show me the stupid idea. Ref is just doing his job.
The closest we can get is that it's dumb idea to ever enter a ring with the professional boxer if you are not also a professional boxer. But I agree, not really something that fits here
Sub has lost its meaning a long time ago
Would have loved to see Tyson vs Ali in their prime
People say this but if you compare their fights side by side then you’d see there is no comparison. Ali was fast but lacked power. He would hit people so many times and outlast them. Tyson would bring the physicality that didn’t exist among athletes from Ali’s day. Tyson would absolutely destroy him.
That is pretty much exactly what I thought. The crushing fury of Mike would overwhelm Ali.
At the end the other guy puts his hands up like, “What’s wrong? I was just about to get him?”
Hahaha
And this is why I treat any boxer I meet with respect, they could easily go from nice person to guy who can beat my ass and leave me in a coma in 3 seconds, people got me scared shit less
That was before mushrooms
Not many ref bumps in boxing!
Tyson would have hurt Ali. It would have been a great match, yet short like nearly all the others.
Definition of “tomato can”
Tamaytah can
Dudes a savage. The referee, I mean.
Mike Tyson was a fucking beast
Why is ref sending the goofy kid back in the ring
