forward compatibility with controllers, my dad Xbox one controller was broken so he fixed it, and he told me that we could play overcooked or any coop game like we used to. later that day, my father suffered a heart attack and passed away. when the series X|S launched i bought it coz i wanted to keep using his controller, still have it and I use it to play occasionally because I like to feel that we spend time together playing some games like years ago.

venttaway1216

Sorry for your loss.

tuckyruck

Sorry for your loss my friend. My son and I have been playing since he was tiny. He's 21 now and we still play minecraft together when he's in town on the same survival world we've built for years. Every time he leaves its hard for me to keep playing because it's just not the same without him, but then I try to build stuff that will impress him when he visits again. I'm truly sorry for your loss and hope playing brings you fond memories of him. I imagine you were a huge part of the reason he played, not the games but the time you spent together.

Strange_Soup6853

Goddamn these posts really make me want to be able to raise a child one day

cotch85

I wasn’t mentally ready for this response.. you might not be lucky due to circumstances but your dad loved you guessing that he’d go through that trouble to play games with you. Cherish that controller!

Ok_Significance9304

Sorry for your loss. Having such a controller and memory must be a good way to remember

tarheelphenom

Man that's heartbreaking to hear. One of the things that I posted in my reasons why was the fact that my son and I can game together. He has his own system and I have mine. I appreciate you being transparent and willing to share.

Shon785

❤️

d3ryth

I'm sorry for your loss. May you play many games with your father's controller and with him in your thoughts.

ChiWhiteSox247

Sorry for your loss. My dad took me at release for the original and we used to play True Crime, Def Jam etc. He passed a couple years ago. LOVED the Assassins Creed games too. I still go back and walk through Origins when I miss him even tho we 100% the entire thing haha

RakkiRakki2047

My dad passed away couple days ago. I understand this 100%

darthjoey91

Backwards compatibility, first from 360 to Xbox One, then from Xbox One to Series.

djmc329

Same, I skipped the One but had a small library of 360 games around that I'd not played in 10 years. ...plus Game Pass and xCloud for playing on my travels without relying on home console being on.

-boozypanda

Mainly this. The 360 was my first console, then I moved to PS3, PS4 and PS5. I wanted to replay some old 360 games and the Xbox exclusives so I got a Series X. Now that I've replayed all of Gears, MCC, Fable, Forza, it's starting to gather dust.

EdwardMalus

Same— from the original Xbox, to the 360, (skipping the One). and now back… it’s great to be able to enjoy the whole ecosystem. First game I played on my new series x was Morrowind.

urmomstraightt

Emulation, Backward Compatibility, FPS Boost, and resolution enhancements

[deleted]

Can’t wait till I can play the twin snakes on my Xbox when I get a usb to put it on

[deleted]

Quite busy with the native game catalog, haven't even considered looking into emulation. Still as I like to bitch about not more games being BC, it may be time for me to read up on Series powered emulation 🥳 Edit: What a rabbit hole! It does align nicely with my expectations of the Xbox brand being the closest console to Windows and that proximity paying off in ports and emulation.

still_mute

Let's just say it's my ToddBox

screaminNcreamin

Am I really about to spend $600 to play starfield? Yes :(

Deacalum

I just did recently. Skyrim is my favorite game of all time so I want to play Starfield (and ES6 when it releases). I had resigned myself to returning to PC gaming but then looked at how much it would cost to upgrade my graphics card. Buying an Xbox Series X was cheaper. That being said, game pass is awesome and I'm having a lot of fun playing some old Xbox 360 games.

fauteuil2fire

In Todd We Trust

BeefsteakTomato

Todd dammit

CJKatz

Todd giveth and Todd taketh away.

aliomenti

Todd giveth..... eventually

[deleted]

Who is this Todd you speak of? Do you mean our lord and savior, God Howard?

the_other_dave

Google killed Stadia, and the Series S was the cheapest current-gen console so that's what I got to replace it.

Random_Person_1414

didn’t know stadia users actually existed

the_other_dave

There are dozens of us! Dozens!

[deleted]

*were There WERE dozens of us. And 1/6th of us are right here. Hi, fellow Stadian...

cardiffjohn

Hello fellow former Stadian

KaladinInSkyrim

same here, former stadia user, currently first time xbox user

Baguette_Theory

GPUs are way too pricey, also game pass

evanmckee

Ah, GPUs are too pricey, so you decided to go with the great value that is GPU!

Baguette_Theory

Figured it was a good excuse to try Xbox after being a Sony fanboy up until the ps4. Plus all pc games are bugged to hell for at least 3 months after launch. And I saved damn near $400

Expert-Phrase-1794

😆 I see what you did there. Great job! 😆

Arrasor

Fable. That game gave me my love for RPG back when I was a 10yo kid. The news of it getting remake made me buy the SeriesX to pair with my PS5.

venttaway1216

Yeah, I never played a Fable game, but it seems interesting. I hope we get to see something during the upcoming showcase.

jholway7

What are you waiting for, go play Fable! It's the game that got me in to RPGs. Such a great game series. It's really a shame it's been so long since they've released a new one.

rob_merritt

The controller. I’m disabled and symmetrical thumb sticks of the PlayStation line are too painful to to use. The adaptive controller is a huge plus for accessibility too.

Andrew129260

If you do ever want to check out playstation again, they are working on their own controller that's more accessible https://blog.playstation.com/2023/05/18/first-look-at-new-images-and-ui-of-the-access-controller-for-ps5-an-all-new-accessibility-controller-kit/

Stoogefrenzy3k

I was going to mention it and read to your message. It looks neat and creative, I wonder how it would compare with the Xbox Adaptive Controller. It'll be interesting to see gamers whom would use both to see which one was more easier to use. I do wish somehow they have figure a way with either to work on either systems to best fit in either conditions, if someone had both consoles to feel their most comfortable controls on gaming.

Andrew129260

yeah im just glad more companies are doing more with accessibility in general.

i_am_legend26

Well the playstation controller also hurt for me. Besides that the triggers of the ps3 and 4 are super weird feeling.

Kymmy_Kibble

This is the exact reason I got an Xbox too.

UNknownSSGamer

Im disabled as well and the PlayStation controller hard to use. I usually have to wait for a third party controller until I can use a PlayStation.

Natalie3656

I had a switch and wanted a second console. The Xbox Series X was the one I picked from the new generation because it was the first one I encountered at a store

venttaway1216

How are you enjoying it?

Natalie3656

Its a great console overall and I’ve definitely enjoyed it since I’ve had it

ZookeepergameBig8060

My backlog of digital games I have with Xbox

levi22ez

And this right here is what Phil Spencer was talking about. Losing the previous gen of consoles was huge for Xbox, because people built up massive digital libraries. So you bought a new Xbox because you already have all these games on Xbox. Other people who switched to PS last gen, stayed with PS because they had the digital library in that ecosystem.

ZookeepergameBig8060

Perhaps I should have also added that overall I do prefer Xbox over ps. The controller hands down is better, for me

levi22ez

Oh yeah same. I’ve never really liked PlayStation. Just the vibe of the console always felt off to me. And the Xbox controller is definitely better for me as well.

ZookeepergameBig8060

I didn’t mind their consoles just wasn’t a fan of A: the controller and B: I don’t like their fan base. I made the switch cause I wanted to play splinter cell and for some reason I thought it was on Xbox only (maybe it was an exclusive at one point?) grabbed a refurbished Xbox and bought and s controller and have been with Xbox every since. I will said this though, the ps5 controller is a lot better than the old ps1-ps4 controllers

Indoorsman101

When they bought Bethesda. I know Elder Scrolls 6 is years away, but damn it I’m gonna play it. (Not a PC gamer) That aside - so glad I have it! Many great game pass games.

Vestalmin

I’m honestly not even sure Elder Scrolls 6 will be a Series X game haha It will be an Xbox game of course, so you’re in the right place. But I’d bet it’s about 6 years away

StrtupJ

Almost two decades between Elder Scroll releases is insane

dpch

Same. Anticipating Starfield. Also had a little nostalgia from the 360 days, but all those friends are long gone ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|cry). Also, I missed the Xbox controller.

Silky_Wangzonya

My friends and I are still here on Xbox! Add me if you wanna party up! Gamertag: Silky Wangzonya

Ry-Vell

Bethesda played a HUGE role in me going all in on Xbox. My wife is obsessed with Fallout and Elder Scrolls. I wasn't about to take that away from her. I also started realizing how short the exclusives I enjoyed on PS were. I thought it would really bother me to not have those anymore, but I haven't felt like I was missing much since the move.

Breedlove22

Halo and gamepass

1019throw2

Haven't had a game system since ps3. We saw the Hogwarts legacy trailer 3 years ago and wanted a new system. After researching, we found game pass and ended up getting a series x. Then Hogwarts got delayed a year, but we've had so much find finding random indie games on gamepass. Now can't wait until starfield.

AddendumAltruistic86

I got the xbox one, xbox one x, and xbox series x. Also got LG c1. I purchased my xbox series x from best buy and got gamepass with it. The game I have the most on my xsx is skyrim. Load times are a thing if the past, the game loads so fast now. Love it. I'm playing minecraft,Redfall, atomic heart, and a few others. There are so many games in game pass that I've never played, it's quite overwhelming. Alot of treasures in there for sure. Having ea play is a huge win I think for gamepass.

illdanny

Halo combat evolved did it for me.

Emilia67

Also Gears of War

Own-Requirement-4893

LAN parties for the win

levi22ez

I grew up playing Halo on other people’s Xboxes. When it came time for me to buy my own console as an adult, it had to be an Xbox to play Halo.

[deleted]

You bought a $500 next gen system to play a 2001 game?

illdanny

The question was edited originally it asked just Xbox.

FieryTub

My kids liked it. I'm console agnostic personally. Game Pass is pretty neat though. Used it plenty.

Tee_Rye_Lee

Console agnostic… nice lol.

Damaellak

I was tired of moving my desktop to my main tv to play some games with my wife so I got an S and our quality of life improved a lot

nakabra

Times are tough around here and GAMEPASS is vital. Pretty much it...

Unlikely-Disaster-33

Gamepass, Backwards compatibility, Halo: Infinite, and Forza Horizon 5. I’m not gonna lie, it’s been kinda lite this year, but I’ve got Backwards compatibility to tackle my backlog, other systems, and other hobbies, so it’s all good. I just got Nier: Automata on sale, for example.

[deleted]

Halo CE and Morrowind.

Littletad

Ms rewards and backward compatibility. It's not even a biased ecosystem, it's a fact your dollar just goes further on Xbox, plus forward compatibility makes you feel good about your purchases.

[deleted]

I enjoy video games. I've always bought a PS, Xbox, and Nintendo console. PS has always been my main, Xbox is just for Gamepass now, and Nintendo for family gaming.

alamarche709

Same for me. We have the Switch set up on the big tv in the basement for couch co-op or party games, the PS4 in the living room for when I want to lay back and get into a great single player game, and my Series X is at my gaming desk where I play competitive online shooters through Game Pass.

[deleted]

This is me right here. Though I'm considering a windows handheld to replace the xbox.

DarthCheez

The steam deck is amazing. I still love my xbox for multi-player and some AAA single player games.

kftgr2

Heard the ROG Ally is great too.

VenturerKnigtmare420

Wow someone with actual logic. Can’t wait for someone to go “hurr durr you are Sony pony, sony games third person walking simulator” while simultaneously hyping hellblade 2.

angelgu323

Your comment was a left ball curve, which is why you are getting downvoted. No one is even hating on Sony and you reacted like this haha. But i agree its cringe as fuck when people call GOAT Sony games waking movie stimulators

pink_life69

A half decent GPU was 1500€ and it seemed the logical choice for single player games. I’ve never had a console before the Series S, then I bought the Series X. Now I have a good rig since the mining craze is over and I tend to play on PC more, but I like the Series X for what it is. Quick Resume is fucking amazing and the plug-and-play feeling is great. I wish Microsoft cared more about the device popularity though, exclusives have mostly been shit, Gamepass is cool though. As for the system itself, the Series X is the quietest thing ever, let down only by the shitty controllers. Next gen I’m going with Sony though for the main console.

SpicyMustard4Life

Got an X because it was in stock at Walmart and I couldn't get a PS5. I regret my decision but whatever, I'll get a PS6 in 6 years.

venttaway1216

Have you not been enjoying it? Do you just feel like you’re missing out?

VenturerKnigtmare420

I have a similar story. I went to Taco Bell during the promotion and won a Xbox series x. Am I happy ? Well let’s just say I am not a big fan of indie side scrollers and almost all the third party titles on gamepass I’ve played on the pc. The first party games aren’t all that intriguing to me as it’s mostly just halo and forza. The first party was the reason why I went for a ps4 previous gen. This gen I am just a broke masters student that got an Xbox thru sheer luck. I just play on pc gamepass and ps4 the Xbox is a paper weight nowadays.

venttaway1216

If you don’t use it, and you need the money, maybe you should sell it. You might only get half the value off of it, but that’s still nice considering you got it for free.

Sufficient_Theory534

It was regarded as the most powerful console at the time, which swung my decision to purchase an Xbox Series X initially. I didn't pick up a PS5 until January, but looking back now, the most impressive looking next-gen games have been on PS5. Gamepass is great value. It's a lot better than Sony's subscription service. Hopefully, we get a proper next-gen game this year that showcases the power of the Series X. Forza Motorsport could be that game. Both consoles have positives and negatives. You can't go wrong with either one.

McDubz36

I agree with you. Got the series X because it was touted as the most powerful console, yet games look better on the PS5. Wish a got a PS5 instead for the exclusive games.

skymang

Had xbox one s previously. Upgraded to Series X because friends have xbox and gamepass, i like the xbox controller and I like the look of the X. No regrets whatsoever

H8Bomb

I got an xbox 360 on 2007 then an xbox one in 2015 because of backwards compatibility then an series s at launch because I had enough MS Reward points to get one for less then $100.

karjoh07

I wanted to play next gen games but ps5 was unavailable. It felt weird going from PS to xbox but now I just really enjoy the best of both worlds. I love game pass and it’s probably the only reason why I wouldn’t get rid of it. Also love the backwards compatibility and range of games. Though I’m still very much a fan of the PS exclusives and controls better. Like I said, best of both worlds now, I feel incredibly lucky :)

GetVladimir

The fact they were actually trying and listening to their users. I really liked that the Xbox Series was very quiet, had quick resume and compatibility enhancements for current/previous gen games. The games I wanted to play at the time were Forza Horizon 4 and State of Decay 2. The main reason was Phil Spencer and the team, their vision with Game Pass, allowing you to play games on day 1 from anywhere

kid_jenius

Windows Phone. It was my first entry point into the MS ecosystem. Previously never had a phone and had a PS2. After getting a windows phone, I got looped into Xbox Live on the phone and then I decided to get an Xbox.

flylikejimkelly

Halo 😒

[deleted]

I’ve had live for 15 years. Honestly if it weren’t for such an extensive history, I would have definitely fully converted to PS by now lol

DingalingzJr

Came from PS4 last gen. A few main reasons: - always grew up with Xbox but didn’t feel that the Xbox One was the right purchase so I switched to PS4 (plus most of my friends had PlayStation at that point) - Them bringing back Fable, Perfect Dark and Halo Infinite were some key reasons. Everwild and Avowed really intrigued me as well. - It being more powerful on paper was a reason as well. Backwards compatibility is a great feature that matters a lot to me. - Zenimax purchase was a very big reason too as it showed their new commitment to bringing Exclusives. Felt that in the long-run it would pay off to get Xbox. - Game Pass and emulation have been selling points for me too I’m glad I’m older and able to buy my own consoles now, so I’m looking forward to what all 3 consoles have to offer

ElFenixNocturno

Promises, lots of promises that they didn't deliver at the end

McGregorMX

Gamepass.

jumperjumpzz

Exclusives like Halo and Fable. But sadly ms doesnt give a fuck to deliver true console exclusives to sell their freaking console

OmeletteDuFromage95

\-Most of my long-term online friends are on Xbox \-Prefer the Ecosystem and controller \-Halo \-Forza Motorspot \-Gamepass

LeglessN1nja

Game pass and my library. Also the pro consumer moves MS has been making in an attempt to claw back market share. Oh and the powerhouse RPG studios they've assembled. A lot I guess lol

venttaway1216

The acquisitions are arguably anti consumer in the long run, but that’s a separate discussion (argument). In terms of rpgs, I think I’m looking forward to Fable the most. Avowed might be something I pay more attention to. I don’t know how much State of Decay counts as an rpg, I’ve some people describe it as such. If so, that is another game I’d like to see more of.

LeglessN1nja

Agreed, but acquisitions are happening anyway and I trust Sony and Microsoft more than tencent and embracer. I'm dying to see fable and avowed

Ecstatic-Arachnid-91

Backwards Compatibility and the hope of Elder Scrolls 6 and a competent Starfield experience

Dougwug03

Gamepass, and It was impossible to get a ps5 where I am

roguefan99

Two thing, Forza Horizon being on PC and Xbox (brought it for PC) so had games for it instantly, and game pass especially with EA play in it as I wanted to play sports games but not have to pay full price for them.

pokszor

covid. I always knew if I have it I won't actually go outside for weeks. once covid hit it was evident that I can't go out, match made in heaven. PS5 wasn't available at that time, also a bit more expensive than a series S.

Existing_Skin_1564

The x makes it sound cool

venttaway1216

There’s now two Xs!!!!!

TurnShot6202

waiting for the XBOX XXX rated mature M. Witcher 4 will be lit in VR

hobbleshock

I was a Nintendo kid until the Wii, got turned off by the motion controls and remembered all the fun I had playing Halo with my friends back in the day. That (and Halo 3 and Bioshock) are the reasons I got a 360. I’ve just stuck with Xbox since. I have a PS5 and a Switch as well but those are exclusive machines for me, I play most things I can on my Series X!

Fakest14

The raw power being higher than the Ps5. But after watching a couple videos from Digital Foundary… Doesn’t seem to matter too much. Also liked the look of it

voppp

Game pass, cheaper and easier to get than ps5. I had a ps4 and Bethesda games and Halo games being Xbox exclusive drove me to it. Best decision I made.

L_E_F_T_

I was a PlayStation guy before this. I bought the series X because I think gamepass is an awesome deal. I’m playing games I would have never played before. Also with PlayStation, the only reason to get it is if you like their exclusives. For me, there was only 1-2 franchises I liked and cared about with the exclusives and it’s not enough to have me buy a PS5 for it. Additionally, I used to have the OG Xbox and 360 so it feels nostalgic to be back Also I’d like to play future Elder Scrolls or Fallout titles

navidee

The eco system. I was already a Xbox one user, so it was basically a upgrade. It was a no-brainer.

vaporizz

Gamepass was a big reason, but mostly just because I’ve always had Xbox so all the digital games I’ve bought over the years are there.

Bongo2687

The controller and Halo.

AmericanTrollBot

Been an Xbox consol only my entire life, back to the original. Wouldn’t ever change tbh

HaGa72

One simple word: “HALO”…

DistinctRelation2542

The Gears franchise

riotinareasouthwest

Starfield and Bethesda in general.

Foreign_Requirement6

The OG Gears of War, recommended to me from a good friend, got the 360 console as well.

MesozOwen

Starfield, then Gamepass, then now just Starfield.

ESPILFIRE

Backward compatibility. RDNA2 The promise to make Halo great again.

rm_enfurecido

Play 360 games and Game Pass. For me, play RDR1 or Max Payne 3 in Xbox Series X was amazing, and discover games like Katana Zero, Halo Infinite, Forza Horizon, Wolfestein or Flight Simulator a great experience. I had a PS4 and Im sure that I never play so many games in my life, in fact, I think that thanks to Xbox Series X and Game Pass Im living the best moment in my life with videogames.

OGKushBruce

Game Pass and Starfield

Qiqirnmercenary

Backward compatibility and upscaling for old games

Lewp_95

I had PlayStation all my life. Most of my friends had Xbox. I got console banned from black ops 1 on my ps3 and that was the big game at the time. So I picked up a 360 in early 2011 and had had Xbox ever since.

LordNutterButter2

Halo is the reason for me getting an Xbox

jewst00

Halo

BUROCRAT77

Be here since OG days. Best controller (can’t use a PS layout, kills my hands)

mebanelogo

I never owned an Xbox until the Series X. I had the PS1, PS2, PS3 and PS4. I was looking forward to buying the PS5, but unfortunately I've never seen a PS5 for sale in a store, online stock was always sold out in seconds. Those who had to sell, charged twice the price. I waited for 1 year, then I surrendered to Xbox Series X, with GamePass. It was the best thing that happened to me, I'm very satisfied, GamePass has already saved me some money. As for the PS5, there is already talk of the launch of the PS6 and I know people who still can't buy the PS5. What a joke.

[deleted]

[удалено]

SparksTheUnicorn

Isn’t the new KOTOR not releasing on Series X

angelgu323

If it ever releases at all

Ckhillia1

I had the orginal x-box, came back this year because of the Bethesda purchase

Exhumedatbirth76

The Bethesda deal. I want to play Starfield. Fable, and Avowed as well so that's pretty much why. I know we won't be getting ESVI or Fallout 5 this gen...so making the best of it.

CraigOfWar

Microsoft Rewards

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Nice to see a niche JP game get love here. PSO and Sega games were also the main reason I also returned to gaming and at the time, Xbox was a great option since it was 1/3 the cost of a PC that I would need to run it with how pricey and hard to find GPUs were. I immediately jumped on the Game Pass and MS Rewards wagon as soon as I got XSX and expanded my gaming options.

[deleted]

Xbox was what introduced me to the pso franchise as a whole

Shikoome

Gamepass, that's all lol

Iron_Chic

I was a Sega kid in the 80s and 90s. When the DC was dying and Sega said they weren't creating another console, I went with Xbox. They had games I wanted to play and I absolutely hated the PS1 controllers because they gave me hand cramps (had a PS1 though, lol!). From there, I Beta tested Xbox Live, got a gamertag and just kept with it through 360, One and now the Series. It's easier for me. I like Sony and Nintendo as well, but I am comfortable with Xbox.

waxyfeet

Gamepass, Halo + I hated how the PS5 looks

venttaway1216

Yeah, the design of the PS5 turns me off to it. If there is a slim version that looks nice, I may be more inclined to it.

[deleted]

I liked the One X more than the PS4 Pro. Gamepass better than anything PS had to offer as well as me being one of the few who doesn't like most PS exclusives.

venttaway1216

Yeah, I missed out out in last gen. I was curious of the PS4 exclusives, but at this point, I’ve missed out on so many that I’ve lost interest in most of them. Doesn’t help that many of them are really similar. No hate to anyone who enjoys them though.

[deleted]

The only PS exclusives I like atm are Bloodborne and Demons Souls, but if rumors are true about MGS remakes being PS exclusives I will be all over those

venttaway1216

I need to hear more about the MGS stuff, because from what I’ve heard, it’s only MGS3. If that’s the case, I’d be more annoyed than excited. I want to play the whole series, and a collection would be much more appreciated.

[deleted]

I have no idea but I would buy it whether MGS 1, 2, 3, or 4. That franchise is a money printer, I dont know why Konami is so stupid

LoonyConnMan

I was set to get a PS5, but the more I looked into it Game Pass was a huge benefit of the Xbox Series X/S over the PS5. So I traded my PS5 preorder with a person for their Series X preorder. Been very happy!

bucamel

I was thinking about switching back to PlayStation, but gamepass and the obsidian purchase made me decide to stay Xbox. InXile and Bethesda were icing on that cake.

OathOfRhino

I wanted the most powerful console

moff_tarkin

Have not bought a X or S because I have a PC, but I had the OG Xbox, 360 and One. Still chasing that OG/360 era high.

privat88r

game pass and to try something new since I think i've tried most of the the AAA games of the ps4 era

Ketrul

Cheaper than ps5 Better specs on paper than ps5 But gamepass really is the keypoint Also titles usually a bit more mature ( halo, forza, gear of war)

angelgu323

I mean... TLOU is beyond mature.

georgo85

It had the best next gen version of rocket league at the time. And gamepass of course!!

mabber36

I just wanted to load Rock Band 4 with all my dlc faster worth 500 bucks for that alone

ParsonsProject93

When the Xbox One X came out, it was such a clear jump technologically from the PS4 Pro that I couldnt justify getting a PS4 especially when most games I played at the time were 3rd party (On PC)

KhanDagga

Yo momma

spence624

Been an Xbox owner since the OG Box, bought every console since. Best gaming systems ever hands down. I will always support Xbox.

Fluffy_Space_Bunny

I've been asking myself that same question recently.

[deleted]

My mom sent me one for Christmas in 2001 even though I had no interest in one. I thought it was going to be another 3DO, Jaguar, CDi, etc. She just knew I liked video games. Turned out to be a good choice though, being the spiritual successor to the Dreamcast.

newaru2

1. Game Pass 2. When I bought my Series X in early 2021, PC components were expensive enough I didn't want to build a new system that could handle and play in 4K.

zrkillerbush

Halo Infinite and Forza Horizon 5

DABXBOMBER0976

Gears of war

NotJackKemp

Due to raising a young family, we bought a Wii in 2009 since it was the more family friendly system. Then in 2017 we got the switch. By 2020, I had a more established career and was considering one of the newer systems. When I heard Microsoft bought Bethesda, that’s when I pulled the trigger on the series x. I thought surely ES6 would come out soon, lol.

ChessyLogic

Forza

rickjamesia

First time I had the money to own all the consoles if I wanted to, so I did it.

ConditionLife1710

Gamepass, which has a lot less I’m interested in than I expected. I missed halo after ps4 last gen and felt like a ps5 content wasn’t enough to justify it. If Starfield doesn’t meet hype, I’ll prob jump ship again.

moralboy

I liked the way it looked, the specs seemed promising, most of my games are on Xbox, everyone I care to play games with play on Xbox.

BatShitBanker

A large friend group. We're are all in our 30s now but we've all always been xbox. Ever since halo 2 and the birth of xbox live.

No-Alternative-1321

My reason for upgrading was because I’ve been an Xbox fanboy since the original one, and honestly the console hardware and UI are just better than plystation imo, Sony does have better exclusives for sure, but star field was the game I was most looking forward to play, and with all the purchases Microsoft is doing I’m sure it’ll have comparable if not better exclusives down the line, plus game pass

Kgaines

As a natural progression, I had planned to replace my One X with the Series X and set aside the cash to do so. However, as we all know, they weren't readily available and after some half-ass attempts to do the tracker dance, eventually gave up and used the money for something else. Jump to May '21, and a friend of mine was jockeying a couple of online sales and accidentally scored 2. He sold me the second at retail. I've enjoyed the upgrades in performance on older games and backwards compatibility, but eventually grew bored. Went out and bought my first-ever PlayStation, a 4Pro, upgraded to SSD, and bought about 15 of the "must have" titles for it. Dug some, hated others, then went back to the X. I now grow bored again and picked up a steam deck. Haven't really been using game pass to justify it's price lately. Really hoping the Xbox team brings some fire soon.

canadarugby

It's what me and all my friends play.

Fenwick440

I had gamepass on the phone and while cloud gaming was fast on the phone, I wanted a bigger screen, so originally I got an HDMI to type c cable and that was fine but I wanted more power so I got a series S lol. Playing it more than my PS4.

TinyBig_Jar0fPickles

Game Pass...for sure not the exclusives

YPM1

Tired of the direction PC gaming was going. Game Pass was legit. Believed Phil and Microsoft when they said they were investing in studios... Doubting the last part pretty severely.

iiRetroZ

biggest reason for me was wanting next gen, and ps5 was impossible to get without paying $1000+. added bonus: all of my friends in college have xbox, whereas i had ps4 before XSX. i also like the backwards compatibility as i had xbox 360 before ps4

Blackcoffeeisgreat

I needed a friend so I got an xbox my friend never leaves me and keeps me entertained. Loneliness made me try winning it and I won it at a raffle might have to sell it soon moneys tight right now but its amazing to say the least first time owning a system and not having to play elsewhere.

jonstarks

I wanted to play my exclusive 360 games that are not on PC and I wanted to play them in 4k.

sneakyserb

Wanted a mini pc. 120hz is dope. specs were not bad(gpu equivalent of rtx 2070 ). gamepass was popping off at the time. Pass library was decent at launch *not like now with 90% indie cell phone games. They need to pump out more N64 games/ older AAA titles

jrobo566

Always have been a Playstation gamer for as long as I can remember but I worked at a game store for a little under a year and they gave 30% off everything store wide for staff so I brought a refurbished series s as I knew I'd need one or a better pc to run the new bethesda games coming out and I wanted to give the new halo ago as last one I played was halo 2

pichael289

Gamepass and backwards compatibility. Sucks having to pull out my PS3 whenever I want to play a metal gear game.

venttaway1216

I know the MGS HD collection was available on the 360. Maybe you can play it on the Series X.

Winring86

Game Pass is amazing for the games I play. And BGS is my favorite studio of all time

Digger977

I’ve been an Xbox fan since the OG so I felt the need to get the SX on pre-order. While I can say this generation the immediate upgrade definitely was not needed I am glad to have had it this whole time.

EmirFer96

I have Xbox 360 before for Gears of war & Halo after that I bought PS4 and I see all benefits in Game Pass so I get Series X.

Responsible_Quote197

I had a lot of games digitally already from the xbox one plus i wanted to play halo infinite which is on the xbox one but its 30 fps i only really started using Game Pass and the Rewards program during the new gen so thats been really nice too

ShaksHappy

From 360 to ps4 and now series X, because it was cheaper than PS5 and I heard it was powerful too, the only ps5 exclusive which I would care to play is ghost of Tsushima.I don't like Xbox exclusives like halo and gears either but looking forward to starfield

Shakezula84

I had a bunch of money on hand (I think I had done a loan from my 401k for car repairs and still had some money) and I got a notification from the GameStop app that they were available, and I managed to get through the process successfully and ordered one. While I had both an Xbox One X and PS4 Pro, my plan was to get a PS5, so I had purchased cross gen games (watch dogs and Hitman 3) on PS4 with the intent to play on PS5. So I rebought the games on Series X and within the week got a notification that they had PS5's instock. Long story short, I have an X, an S, and a PS5 and Microsoft refunded Watch Dogs for me.

Spartan2842

The amount of money I have invested in my digital library makes it my main console. I have always owned PlayStations as well but just for the exclusives.

theworldgoesboo

Got the Xbox one because all the preorders for PS4 were gone at Walmart lol. I started Destiny on the one so I guess I just continued on the series X. I like the controller as well. I’ve mostly been a Nintendo/Sony gamer. Mostly playing game pass on my series X though .
